Lambo Power _ General _ Koenigsegg Agera HH in LP family?

If so, congrats webster132!

QUOTE
The Mulholland Drive road is a twisty road in the eastern Santa Monica Mountains of Southern California, U.S. At exact this location automotive photographer Christopher Garcia spotted the brand new Koenigsegg Agera HH, the first ever Koenigsegg Agera registered in the U.S.

The one-off supercar was commissioned by Danish programmer David Heinemeier Hansson, who also has a Pagani Zonda HH in a similar color trim. The car was spotted on a transport and photographed a few days ago on an U.S. road fitted with U.S. plates.

The new photos show the vehicle driving across the wonderful driver’s road, where it truly belongs. For your information, the HH is based on an Agera S technical spec, which means it has Aircore hollow carbon fiber wheels, upgraded power and enhanced aerodynamics. The Agera S has a top speed of over 400 kmh. It runs on regular petrol and comes with a newly developed 1030 hp twin turbo engine with a torque of 1100 Nm.

I saw reports somewhere of a Koenigsegg being developed as an "HH" - I forget where. Considering the amount of press Webster got the last time he posted a build (the Zonda), I can understand why this one was kept a bit under wraps.

Congrats though and can't wait to hear impressions versus the Zonda!

Posted by: webster132 Jan 13 2014, 09:20 AM

Just a quick shot of the ass.

Quick notes:

1) I've never felt such savage power. In 200 miles of driving, I've maybe been on the full throttle for a total of 7 seconds. It's like riding an atom bomb.

2) Craftsmanship is second to none. Carbon fiber work, paint work, interior, stitching, leathers. Everything is on par with the very best in the business (Pagani, Bugatti et al).

3) Best single-clutch transmission I've driven so far. No judder on pulling away, smooth as butter when rolling, fast and hard when on full attack.

4) Laughable view out the rear mirror. I imagine this is probably what a Countach is like? It's like a tiny 1x1 square!

5) Incredible ride quality. It's very smooth. Helped, I'm sure, but the incredibly low unsprung weight. The carbon fiber wheels weigh just 9 pounds each!

6) Sound on full throttle is awesome (but not as good as Zonda on full throttle).

7) Short nose overhang and lift system makes it very practical for getting in and out everywhere. I've already taken some very steep drive-way entries. No problem.

That's it for now.

QUOTE (Assman @ Jan 13 2014, 06:14 AM) *
When did they become USA street legal?

When Koenigsegg applied to have the CCX/CCXR be made legal in the States, they were allowed to import 14 cars. However, they only imported 12, so there were 2 spots left available. BCs car (#92) and this car (#99) filled those two spots, so theoretically no more Ageras can come into the states under those previous exemptions. That said, a Koenigsegg rep did say recently that the Agera S/R is entirely US legal, so maybe they got a renewed exemption or the cars have the smart airbag technology that has limited Pagani from coming in as well.

That said, this car has several features specific to US regulations, such as the side indicators in front of the front tire. Also, the side mirrors are off the CCX, as they needed to be US certified as well.

Posted by: ag07 Jan 13 2014, 01:20 PM

Wow, huge congrats !!!! beautiful car

Best of luck with it !

Posted by: webster132 Jan 13 2014, 02:04 PM

No new Ageras until they've resolved the smart airbag issue. It took Pagani ~3 years to have a go at that.

Only side-door is if a buyer can someone get one of the cars in under show'n'display. But that's not that easy to do on a car that's still in active production. Maybe there are work-arounds via "special version", though. In that case, you'd be limited to 2500 miles/year (doubt most people would drive more than that in a Koenigsegg anyway!).

Why has this been such an issue for small volume manufacturers? Lotus had this issue too.

I would have thought this would be a standard system that could be purchased from any one of the part OEM suppliers.

BTW congrats on the car.

Posted by: webster132 Jan 13 2014, 02:11 PM

kinnsella, it's basically a rehomolgation process. Which means crashing a ton of cars again. I think Pagani had to do 22 different crash tests to get the Huayra homologated with smart airbags. Not enough to just stick them in, you have to prove that they deploy correctly. Very long, very expensive process.

Posted by: Davvemannen Jan 13 2014, 02:44 PM

Many congratulations!
I have to say, this is definatly one of my favorite Ageras built so far, it looks absolutley fabulous!

That sounds brutal for a small manufacturer especially using hand laid CF for a chassis material. Were they able to use the chassis for more than one crash test?

That hurts my soul to think they crashed a Huayra....let alone 20+..... crybaby2.gif

Posted by: webster132 Jan 13 2014, 07:20 PM

Yeah, I think the tub survived every crash test. But still lots of other bits and pieces they need to replace every time. I thought I heard that it was a ~$5M project. Which given that the margin per car is ~20% is a good many car's worth of profit to do!

Posted by: webster132 Jan 17 2014, 10:52 AM

It took 14 months from start to finish. Most of that was dealing with the US homologation process, though. The car was done in July where we drove it at the factory airstrip.

I didn't visit the factory before doing the spec. We already knew exactly what we wanted from the project with Pagani, so it was just a few emails and design mockups back and forth.

What kind of experience did you have with Koenigsegg prior to going ahead with the car? Or I guess in other words, what sold you on it? After the whole BC fiasco it seemed that any US buyer would be cautious, at least those who had not dealt with Koenigsegg or driven their cars in the past.

I think youre giving BC more clout then he actually has outside of L4P

True, but he did raise a point about US homolgation, and being that only about 24 Agera's have been made, its quite rare to here an owner's (although I guess he never was since he never took delivery) impressions of the car/brand.

Posted by: webster132 Jan 17 2014, 01:45 PM

I read the whole BC saga and concluded that he sounded like a complete tool. Koenigsegg, Pagani, and any small-time builder make everything by hand. They don't have a 50-person legal department. You have to approach it accepting all that, otherwise you're going to have a bad time. I've had a variety of minor issues with both Pagani and Koenigsegg, but they were always resolved by being reasonable and understanding of the situation.

That's not carte blanche to accept any shit that comes, but when you meet Christian or Horacio, it's so plainly evident that they're in this for the love of craft. You get to deal with them and the close group around them directly. That's a very special experience, well worth the potential conflict that can come from dealing with passionate builders instead of just a mega corporation.

Anyway, BC lost all credibility when he called the Koenigsegg a "hunk of shit". I just came back from a drive to get a sandwich, and even just that little run was a fcuking spectacular event of awesomeness. I don't think he has any authority to yield any meaningful review of the car either given his questionable driving skills.

Congratulation! Very beautiful paintwork! I have never thought that a programmer could afford cars like this! Kudos!

PS: I hate BC this young new rich Chinese guy, this rich parents son! He should make first a proper diver license and learn to handle sportscars and than make comments about them!

QUOTE (webster132 @ Jan 17 2014, 03:45 PM) *

A kid who spends his fathers money trying to buy his own happiness and impress others.

BC once said something to the effect of "My Veyron is more expensive than Herb Chambers, ergo I am better." Herb is a self made, generous, multi billionaire, lol.

I just read some of the stuff and , even though he is entitled to his opinion, he comes across as a pompous ass with no class. I can understand the dislike of his persona

Some photos for comparison.

The color combo is incredible on both cars...the blue on the Agera just seems to glow with an amazing aura though.

Well sorry for my disruption of those plans. sad.gif

It showed up in my Twitter feed, shared by the popular French car spotter Alex Smolik. He also shared it on his Facebook wall and with +700K followers there it has already been reshared over 600 times, with ~12,000 Likes.

Knowing Alex wouldn't have been anywhere near the cars himself I've just asked him where he found the photo and he referenced a FB group for automotive photographers we both belong to. I skimmed through there now and it was posted by a Spanish guy named Daaviid Puyane who said that his friend took the photo in Malaga on Friday.

No interest in tracking this car, or any other street car for that matter. Once you've raced real race cars, there isn't much fun in that smile.gif.

New Agera looks incredible! It's not what I want out of a hypercar, really, but I love that small-time Koenigsegg can upstage the very latest from all the major manufacturers. That's just the best.
