  1. FYI this is my NYCT. couldn't remember my login for bit. lol
  2. Hello All, First of all, I just watned to give a shout and thanks for this site and its members. I joined right after getting my CT a couple months ago and am delighted that this forum exists and so grateful to all the helpful members. If you have seen my other posts you know that I have had some electrical and then performance issues. I was able to sort out all the electrical issues, but sadly I seem to be still running on only have an engine. The passenger side seems to work fine and puts out good exhaust pressure and heat. The driver side putters only coldish air. The pipes on the driver side just are soaked in fuel. I have not been able to fix the issue, but think as others have said, that the issue is with that fun melted box of relays and fuses in the back. Thanks to the stand-up guys at Pro-Auto, where I bought the car, I am going to take it down to them and they are going to sort everything out. In the meantime, I have a few parts I need. 1. A new rear box (i think this is the ignition you guys have mentioned). To replace the melted hot set of relays and wires in the hanging "chad" of the lambo electrics. 2. Drivers side mirror. The glass poped out while I was driving. Appears that the plastic arm holding it on rotted and broke. Need the plastic mounting pieces and the glass. Would be willing to just get an entire new unit if needed. 3. Gas cap. Yep, you guessed it, I left it on the pump. I guess I'm too young to have been properly trained in keeping track of those caps without the lanyard. 4. Passenger side burtoni label. Maybe it just fell off, or maybe someone ripped it off. Either way I need a new one. It's the little plastic one long and thin below the intakes. So who can tell me where to get all these fun things? Thanks for the help. Stephen
  3. thanks mike. i guess they were new old stock. Definitely stll have those new-tire rubber hairs on the sidewall. I'll take em off once I can get the replacements.
  4. Mike- glad to find you. You guys did some amazing work on that car. I hopefully found the main issue which was a scarred up, cracked, loose positive battery terminal connection. Once I weld the new one on tomorrow I think all should be well. Are you going to be at Poconos this weekend. Assuming my issue is fixed now, I will be out. I would love to buy you a drink and pick your brain about the work done. I have all the photos and emails, but could benefit from some info on the engine work done to take it to a FI downdraft config. I'm expecting to get stumped by a few questions at the show!
  5. I was leaning towards towking my car to the Concourse next weekend. Everything is in good shape. Seemed to have sorted out the electrical issues. Finally found that the + battery cable ring was cracked and barely making contact. Explains the voltage irregularities while driving around. Potholes are teaching me a lot about my car. So my question is really with the wheels that are scraped. Is it worth entering? Pros? Cons? Forgive my ignorance, this will be my first show. Opinions welcome...
  6. thanks for the tip on the tires, and the wheels. Nice to know I got a nice show bonus with my purchase. I guess I missed a couple things in my pre-purchase research. I contacted Wil and will get the tires as well.
  7. Any 20 year old car is bound to have issues. The 86 is in great shape, especially the engine. Don't be too discouraged by my questions here. Pro-Auto has been right there with me, and if it hadn't been raining non-stop I would have brought to car back and they would make it right. Just decided I wanted to get my hands dirty. I am still going to take it down there this week and they will do a full walk through of the wiring. The fact is it is a stiff car for good handling. Things get knocked loose, grounds get dirty, etc. Even though Evans had worked through it, the car sat with less than 200 miles over 2 years. My opinion, having just gone through the process of deciding what to buy, is to go with what makes your heart pound, but also keep in mind what will continue to increase in value. I finally steered away from the Ferarris because there are just too many out there for almost every year (within reason). All of the 80's F cars are still declining in value while the L's are tracking up. Also, this may have just been my experience, but I test drove 9 Ferarris in my search and every single one had signs of mechanical issues. 50% of them I sensed synchro issues right away. No matter what car you go for, I would always lean towards one that is the most mechanically strong. Especially if you don't have a background to get in the engine. Electrical issues can be traced and you will learn. Finding the loose ground wire may be annoying, but it sure beats having to pay someone to take apart the transmission after dropping 100k. For what it's worth, "buyer's remorse" on the CT is nill. Nothing will get you and give you more of a wow factor than driving it home. FYI- Pro-Auto has a red/black anniversary on sale now with low miles (<5k km i think) I saw it and it is mint. Go test drive it on several different occasions. Until you get comfortable with the car, you can't tell what you should be looking for. and that concludes today's sermon.
  8. RedLambo - The tires were new on the car when I picked it up not sure where they came from, but definitely new. Are you saying the Pirelli's aren't available anymore?
  9. I have copies of the 25th anniversary diagrams I used with my qv. They are helpful but you still need to trace things down. Even if they existed they wouldn't be accurate so that is the best bet.
  10. Here are some photos of the rim damage. I shall now go cry myself to sleep and hope for a miracle tomorrow.
  11. So I am the new guy with the 86 QV in NYC. Yes, I know I'm crazy. I have figured my way around the good streets to by able to get out of the city as soon as possible without TOO many potholes. Unfortunately before I figured my way around (I know this will make owners cry as much as I did) I had an incident with an unavoidable pothole. Sometimes you can't steer around the ones wider than the car with cabs and trucks all around you. I managed to steer the left side around so I would have both wheels in and do a nose dive, but the right side wheels got there war wounds. Thank God the body didn't get hit. Short version is, my rims got scratched. The gold coating got peeled off with slight scratching of the metal. Is there anyone out there that is capable of refinishing the Gold on these wheels? What about finding a set of good condition rims as a spare? That way I'll have my city rims and country rims.
  12. Yeah I'm on the west side and take it immediately out of the city up 9A. I do like to have it close by, but looking to find a garage in Connecticut or Jersey side. I go back and for to Texas a lot so I'll be wintering the car there.
  13. Yeah I'm the guy who has a countach in the city. parking and potholes are a nightmare, but you gotta live now!
