  1. It's pretty much the same with Swiss First Class. They put you in a private Benz and take you to the plane. Paperwork is done separately too. I'd venture to say that Swiss, Singapore, Emirates, and Thai First seats are better than most private jets. Plus the food is excellent. You can get a RT for $10-15k to pretty much any destination on one of these airlines. A very good deal compared to private. Private only makes sense if someone else is footing the bill or if you fly to far-flung locales. I've seen many uber-rich celebs fly First, including those who can easily afford to fly privates. I've flown with a host of A-list celebs, various royalty, biz leaders, etc...
  2. I agree with you 100%. I spend a lot of time in Europe and I'm always surprised how slim and trim everyone is, considering their food has so much fat. For example, French people eat food drenched in butter, they love their fatty beef and duck, they have so much cheese and dessert and chocolate, but have you ever seen a fat Parisian? The reason is three-fold in my opinion: 1) They walk EVERYWHERE. You're either walking or riding a bike. People hardly use cars there. 2) The portions are smaller. Whenever I go to the States (I live in Canada), I can hardly believe the gargantuan portions they serve in American restaurants. 3) They eat more natural food and they take longer to eat so they don't rely on fast food (junk). They don't eat a lot of high-fructose corn syrup, GM food, etc..., and their lunch hours are not 10 minutes of eating on their desk. Have you ever sat in the Louvre gardens around lunchtime on a weekday? It's full of office workers eating leisurely.
  3. I went through something similar when someone close was ill (but eventually recovered). From being the calmest mofo in the world to being a nervous wreck in the middle of the night. I would wake up with my heart pounding so hard that I'm surprise it didn't jump out of my chest. I didn't take any medication though, because I didn't want to get dependant. Eventually, I became normal again. Going for jogs really helped me. Stress wreaks havoc on your body. Take care of youself.
  4. Not to beat a dead horse, but a complete garbage penny stock he recommended on the Business board is getting de-listed: http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=GSLO.PK&ql=0 I recall a few members made the purchase based on his "tip".
  5. This swil guys stock advice is worth the price paid for it, nothing. His analysis is amateurish and he plays in penny stocks too. I wouldn't be surprised if he was working for a boiler room or day trading from his basement. If he claims to have paid for his cgt from his trading, i would be very skeptical. Just read his analysis in the Business section, most of it is verbatim from the cnbc talking heads and the Bloomberg website.
  6. I bought the 2010 RR recently and love it. No troubles so far.
  7. I'm thinking of picking up a 2010 RR Sport SC within the next few weeks. The only concern I have is with supposed quality issues. Can any owners late model RR's chime in? Would you get one if you had to do it over again? The dealer said that if there is a problem, they will valet a replacement RR to me, which is a bit of a consolation...
  8. My gf was on the waiting list for a $10-12k one for about 6 months. Once she picked it up, she said she was interested in a crocodile one and was told that there was a 2-year waiting list. Lo and behold, less than a few weeks pass by and she gets a call from the Hermes store saying that they happened to have one available because a customer canceled. She ended up buying it; it cost around $40-45k. To answer an earlier question posted in this thread, yes, the buckle is made out of solid gold.
  9. 06 Cayman S. Great sports car, plus you'll have the warranty.
  10. Lasombra52: Why would you list your Camaro, Pontiac Grand Prix, and Hyundai Accent in your signature? Just wondering what your thought process was. --------------------------------------------- Spideysense CFFB # 69 88 Toyota Corolla LE (new tires in '99) 96 Geo Metro 93 Schwinn Mountain Bike (5-speed)
