  1. I handeled the situation of the broken center for Dymag. The wheel was broken at a track event in Mexico the customer runs full slicks all the time at the track and these wheels had about 60 full track days on them unfortunately they were not checked after each event and the spoke developed a hairline crack that started from the engraving on the back of the spoke. They stamp the back of the spokes with the model number of the mold. The crack propagated causing the spoke to break in half and transfering the weight load the the remaining spoke as he continued to run the wheel then broke as he was in a straight line braking zone at the end of a staright away. The damage to the car was minimal about $10k and Dymag paid for the damage and the full set of wheels the car was back at the track in 10 days time and the customer was fully reimbursed. The magnesium center was sent to a testing lab here in the U.S. to make sure that it had all the properties it should have for cast magnesium the test results came back with passing results and upon inspection of the wheel it was determined that fatigue was what caused the failure. Although Dymag had replaced them and paid for all the costs, I don't think they should be selling these for road use at all, luckily in this case, it happen at the track. I was thinking of them at one point but got HRE monoblock instead as my mate told me that this might happen and the slight weight difference is not worth it. Imagine the same guy was on a busy street instead of the track, there is no way he can control the car and innocent people might be seriously hurt.

  6. Rob comes to Singapore once every 3 months and stay for 3 to 4 days to tune up all the cars. Not sure about the states but u can log on to www.dmsautomotive.com and send them an email to ask the man himself. They also have a nice dyno chart showing the power increase of an 06 onwards gallardo to 546.2 hp after the tuning.
  7. Hi I had known Rob for a coupe of years, my 08 spyder is my 4th project with him. According to Rob, the gallardo mapping took him about 18 months to develop and he altered quite a lot of parameters to the mapping, not just air and fuel. I was with him when he did my car 2 weeks ago, it took about close to 4 hours, both ecu had to be taken out and one of the chip had to be replaced in each ecu, it is not just a plug and re-program. The car feel much faster in 4th, 5th and 6th gear. I was at the track as well with one stock spyder and constanly I am able to power out of the corner much faster and the driver of the stock spyder was in sport mode whereas I was in normal mode on the track. My friend was so surprised and after the track keep asking me why my car seem to be faster, initially I was pulling his leg and told him that my line was better in the corners and car is faster because of my experience and driving skills but I told him the truth after the track. The tuning is definitely better for the car but have not got the chance to dyno yet, so far it had only been on my personal butt dyno.
