emanon Report post Posted May 7, 2018 Black wheels or a lighter silver. Gray car, if the gray wheels dont match perfectly it looks funky. No go on the bronze.
Charlie Report post Posted May 7, 2018 Congratulations and I would personally go black wheels!
CHADW Report post Posted May 7, 2018 Agreed the polished wheels are a little too chrome. It doesn’t sound like a big change but I think it would be a big impact to paint the wheels matte silver to match the other trim and windshield frame. I love the silver trim on the car and the wheels matching would be perfect. I’m not a fan of the black or bronze options. cake Report post Posted May 7, 2018 Black or gunmetal or silver (if you’re looking for contrast). Black = more aggressive Gunmetal = monolithic - visually lengthens/lowers the look of the car (my fave) - will look clean the longest Silver = contrast and a more “polished” appearance (no pun intended). They’ll be harder to keep clean Gold/Bronze = incongruent - as stated by kmr it stands out and doesn’t tie in with any element on the car. Not a fan... I don’t think the gunmetal must match. If it’s close in color - it’ll more or less “blend” and won’t contrast from the car (unless there is something really shiny or “loud” about the wheels). I have a dark gray metallic GT4 with wheels in a similar (but not matching) color and it looks great. Obviously this is a personal choice and not everyone likes the look unless the wheels match the car.
Griza Report post Posted May 7, 2018 I would match the front windshield surround. Actually, I would probably paint match the window surround body color and do a dark silver wheel. Best of luck with your choice.
Lightning Report post Posted May 8, 2018 Agree with the others, no go on the bronze wheels IMO. Black looks like it will work well. Car looks great. Is it manual or automatic?

Thanks, the car is R-Tronic. I looked for 6spd too, none in this color/options/Spyder/V10 for sale in the US at the time. It's not that bad honestly but I do look forward to the dual clutch on the next car.

For an R8 it looks as good as it can. I don't think the chrome windscreen pillars work with black wheels. If you are going to murder it out with black wheels, you would need to wrap or paint the pillars.

I drove a V8 with the paddle shifters a few years back and loved it, those upshifts were amazing. I'm sure the sound and power of that V10 enhances that x10. One hell of an upgrade my friend! Nicely done, enjoy it.

Yeah I was considering wrapping/change the pillars to match some of these options, it wasn't just a wheel swap and calling it done! I think I'm going gunmetal!
