  1. Nice PA46 JetProp! (One of my dream planes, along with the TBM 700 / 850 / 900). The Countach ain't bad either
  2. Call me crazy, but I would say if it is mechanically sound, buy it and spend 25-30K repainting it (or wrap it if you prefer). The drivetrain is way, way more critical to the future value than the color in this particular case. That said it is a very rare color and it is a very rare drivetrain option so if it is all original 20-30 years from now, it may command quite a price. I personally would wrap it and drive the hell out of it
  3. One day, I have no idea when, but one day, (original factory) Manual LP640/670-SV's will be really unobtanium. The premium over an original e-gear car (regardless of which is "better") will be HUGE. Collectors love very limited, highly distinguished features amongst an already rare/collectible item. If I had the disposable money, a manual 670 would be in the garage as a long term investment. The best news is, it is so damn rare you can put miles on it and enjoy it and it is still going to be worth a lot in 10-15 years. Roy is my hero in this regard
  4. Congrats, enjoy it in good health! It may not be faster than a 737 at sea level, but I'm pretty sure it would outrun some turboprops at that altitude
  5. I have this "wild theory" that the company must be a, ah, front for "something". No evidence, just wild speculation, based on my attempted dealings with them long ago and everyone else who has ever tried to buy a car from them. That and of course their inventory sits forever. I can echo other's comments that they certainly don't seem to be in the business of selling cars... Assuming Donzi didn't buy it, how do we know it simply wasn't traded away? A lot of dealers will mark something sold and then quietly wholesale it off... P.S. Awesome color
  6. Thanks all for the suggestions! Will take a close look at everything mentioned. Jeff I will be in touch, I've been meaning to swing by to meet you. I also should probably check if there are any outstanding campaigns on the car or software updates etc! Have a great 4th everyone!
  7. Agreed, it is an epic Bull. Now... if only the steering wheel was on the "right" side of the car
  8. Hi All, My Diablo has always been "hot-blooded" on the coolant side of things in ambient temps much beyond 75 F (basically half the year here). The symptoms persist in that, while it will stay between 95-105 C is light throttle applications, and stop/go traffic, any kind of "sporting" use of the loud pedal will get a swift and rather disconcerting reaction from the coolant temp gauge. I took her out the other day for some local canyon driving and at 85 F I saw here go from 95 C to 115 C in about 45 seconds of 3000-5000 rpm 2nd gear switchbacks, no significant elevation changes (Live Oak Canyon for you South OC people). I was part throttle, never went to redline or camped high rpms and had my eye on the gauge the whole time, basically conducting an expirement after having done the following: Thermostat checks (opens/closes properly) All new coolant lines New coolant with high temp weather mix + water wetter New coolant temp sensor No apparent leaks Many burps to clear air out of coolant system Both fans run and seem to be pushing a strong radiator exhaust flow (no rpm or cfm data to be objective though, but given these symptoms come on at 40-60mph pulls I would think the fans are marginal at that speed range?) Radiators *appear* to be OK from exterior None of the above has changed the behavior in warmer temps (80-85 F, low-mid humidity, I will not even take the car out at 90+ right now). Now a 70 F it takes a while to really manifest this same behavior and it comes back under control much quicker, so ambient temp is definitely a factor. Interestingly, oil temp never broke 85-90C, and seemed rock solid the entire time once warm. Meanwhile the damn coolant gauge appeared to be directly connected to the throttle on the way up, and then needed a good amount of light throttle application / low rpm high speed cruise to go from 115 back to 90-95. I was first thinking, maybe the coolant gauge isn't calibrated properly, but with how the damn thing moves I just don't see that being the ultimate answer. I am starting to think: Radiators. Either there are issues I can't see with them (corrosion inside or bent fins I didn't see), or the car is woefully inefficient if everything is indeed in full working order, in which case I would love to hear if anyone has done an aftermarket radiator install? I realize without front-mounted radiators that the Diablo isn't going to be a (modern) Porsche in terms of coolant temp stability/performance in demanding conditions, but I am expecting at 80-85 F that the car isn't going to run to near red-line coolant temps in under 60 seconds of part throttle fun either. Thoughts before I go off and buy a pair of radiators of some sort?
  9. Wow that car just keeps getting more amazing every time I see it. I'm really excited that it went to another enthusiast owner. Enjoy it in good health!
  10. Congrats on this beauty! I believe we may be in close proximity to each other, we should get our respective V12 bulls together. I would love to see that car in the CF/metal! If you see some crazy person in a silver 911/Diablo/M5 trying to flag you down in traffic, that would be me
  11. Born in 1980, had the Countach, Testarossa, and whale-tail black 911 Turbo on the walls. Naturally wanted all 3 for different reasons/purposes. My first real head-explosion moment with cars (beyond the typical posters, books, matchbox cars as a little guy), was my brother teaching me to drive his stick shift 5.0 Mustang when I was ~ 12 years (I was a tall 12 year old). Yes this happened in the midwest where we blow things up with gunpowder and other explosive materials as forms of entertainment, and 12 year olds have their own assault rifle collection already . I realize a 12 year old piloting a manual gearbox V8 Mustang around a parking lot is not really "PC" here on the left coast The Lambo obsession initially sparked from Cannon Ball Run (the movie), made a trip to what was then Nelson Lamborghini in Columbus OH, and then solidified when I got a ride in a 99 VT Roadster (black/black) and felt/heard the 12 behind me at WOT. Game over, must buy one, took me awhile to get around to doing it I think generation-wise I am on the bubble with pop-up vs. non pop-up lights.
  12. Not only will I be able to see (because of the reliable Japanese headlights) but I will be sailing past you at night at 200+ mph because I don't have two barn doors open on my hood... at least these are things I tell myself to sleep soundly at night I do like the older pop-up light look IF they are down / during the day-time. I'm not a fan of the Diablo lights when up as compared to the open head light cars, but there is no accounting for taste. The only cars I like with pop-ups with the lights up would be the F355 and NSX. Not sure why, it just works for me on those two...

    Just curious...

I really feel like my math skills are seriously inadequate after reading this post
  14. This could be it barring a concept car: It looks too wide to be a Huracan variant, unless it is a Trofeo race car or something. It does seem a bit quick to release a SV roadster, they could have milked the coupe for a year or 1.5 years first I would think? Perhaps they are peeling a page for Ferrari's book and releasing in "16M/Speciale Aperta" style which is not too far after the hardcore car is released but claiming it will be limited in number produced in the open-top variant. I really hope Lamborghini get back to making *real* limited/numbered cars at some point (not just cosmetic special editions), especially since the Aventador production numbers are pretty large already.
  15. It seems the LPower is having issues with attachments at the moment? I don't want to cross-link the images from another forum. Let' see if they sort out the attachment situation here. She is a platinum edition car (basically silver over tobacco) VT coupe. Here was one of her promotional photos before I bought her from Roy: http://www.autobestlist.com/images/6/5791/thumb_1.jpg No other color shows Diablo lines off like silver does, I don't care what you purple car driving SE30 guys say
