Any info about the mid cycle refresh/update?

Are we going to see a new model released entirely? They just released the SV which I thought was an indication of a final run?

If that is the case and a new model is introduced, then that would put selling pressure on the existing Aventadors. As a potential Aventador buyer (lp640 currently), it is a challenge to see where the market is going.

The SV is not always the end of the run as we saw with the Diablo. The Aventador still has plenty of steam left in the product life cycle and sales are strong. The gen 2 cars might go dual clutch (which is a shame). I can see Aventador values going up once the new model is released (in about 6 years I'd guess) since this will most likely be the last NA, single clutch V12 in mid-engine car we'll see.

Was sort of assuming they were switching to the Ferrari 7 year cycle for models as 10 just seems too long, but i have no basis of this other than the SV being early, which would put a new model at 2018.

Would expect a few minor Aventador updates maybe a bit of power styling and wheels, to keep the sales going but i doubt that much will change, if they are going 10 years they will definitely need a substantial facelift if they want to keep sales rolling.

Talked to the Ad Personam Director in October in Italy. He also confirmed that the Aventador has plenty of years left! New model won't be released anytime soon.

Don't know the details, but lots of Aventador "refresh" and special editions coming up.

This is great news! I hope they span it out like the Countach!

I thought the production limit was 4,000 which they should be nearing or passed by now.

That's what I thought. Though I wouldn't be too surprised if they exceeded the limit.

I learned my lesson not to believe everything Lamborghini says after they announced the LP550-2 would be a standard production car, making my Balboni seem like a gimmick.

Well...here's our evidence that Aventadors have surpassed 4000 units as announced back in 2011.

Many more "refresh" and "special editions" to come. SVs (coupes or roadsters) will not be as special as future releases.

I thought the significance of 4000 was that was what the tub tooling was good for. With sales as good as they have been, it's an easy call to buy another mold and keep on rolling.

What's the fastest way to get people to buy something? Tell them you're running out. SV pre-orders looking low? Tell the world you'll only make 600 and then bam everyone gets a reservation in. Launching a new flagship? Tell people only 4,000 max will be made. Putting a limit on something gives people a subconscious reaction of scarcity. My first question when they said they'd only make 4,000 was due to the mold, my first thought was "I'm pretty sure they will buy more molds...They've been talking about growing their unit output and 4,000 is not growing." Strong sales, long wait list, and strong demand make it a no-brainer. Brilliant on Lambo's part.

I am pretty sure the 4000 limit started here as a rumour, there was zero chance for it to happen.

The 4,000 units limit hype was in fact created by an article published by AutoCAR in the UK : Lambo set for 4000 Aventador ... but it is obvious they are planning to build a lot more, most likely a facelift could be happening in 2017 with a totally new model in 2020 or 2021 as I mentioned in my article : Will the Superveloce be the last of the Aventador breed

No, there are quotes from Winkleman saying it would be 4000 cars.

" In total, only 4000 units of the supercar will be produced, which is 99 units less than the Murcielago. If any more than that were produced, the Aventador would not be profitable. According to Autocar, "the carbon fiber molds that are used to construct the car’s monocoque can be used as many as 500 times before they have to be replaced." The Aventador’s price is equivalent to eight sets of monocoque molds. If you are truly in the market for one, there are far too many bespoke options to choose from – we would certainly want to go through the design process ourselves and order one from the factory in Italy."

Obviously with the wild success of the car they have bought more of the molds.

Pretty easy call if the mold really costs $100 per car.

They told it would be possible to use them for 500 units ... so at $100 per car made that would mean each mold costs $50,000 ?

Yea, I remember Kris being willing to bet anything there would only be 4,000 units and debating with so many people about that. THe numbers just didn't make sense after they made so many in 2012 and 2013. 12's and 13's are starting to drop like rocks! Looking forward to picking one up sooner than later!

There is obviously a problem when my information comes from reading LP only LOL

I can't remember exactly what's been said but I remember people arguing here over the potential numbers.

i remember hearing the 4000 number and i'm certain it wasnt on LP.

with Audi being involved, i dont believe anything.

The " I don't believe anything" rings true with everything in the car world and even more so with exotics owners dealers and factories.
