Veyron Tire Options

What are you guys that have switched to aftermarket options using?? I am wrapping up a set of wheels on an 08 Veyron and tires are providing to be a huge hurdle! Apparently the stock tires are "PAX" and semi-beadlocks. They are also no a "real" tire size, rather they are 20.5" and 21.25 (or something along those lines).

The only thing I have come up with are Pirelli Pzero's in 275/30/20 and 355/25/21, which are basically indefinitely back-ordered. The wheels are nearly done so I would like to address tire options before I get stuck with a Veyron on the lift and wheels with no tires :turboalex:

$3700-ish for the set.

That's a hell of a lot better than what OEM tires apparently cost. Something like 20K for a set?

That's very impressive, I didn't know you could actually request to have custom tires made.

Not exactly custom, just a special run of an existing tire.

Custom tires would be many multiples that cost in mold tooling alone.

I see, I misunderstood, I thought it was a one off special run, thank you for clarifying it for me!

it was a special run, just a special run of a tire they already make! I was surprised they agreed to it as well.. like I said earlier, initially I was going to have to wait a couple of months to get these in. I guess money really is the key to getting things done :headbang:

I was told by a not so helpful dealer that it was around 30k with valve stems and what not.

Those valve stems will get you ever time.

$29,998.00 for the tires.

$2.00 for the valve stems.

Its a veyron, the valve stem is rated for a 300g load, weighs exactly 22.6 grams (the exact weight of the aluminum hole in the rim it fills, and requires a special fitting to fill them.

I was thinking $12k in tires and $18k in NASA STIG valve stems.

I don't recall 100%, but I think I remember them saying $6000 for the valve stems with associated hardware, etc.

Very surprised to see the pzero nero was the choice of tire to be custom made for a veyron. I had those tires on one of my exwifes cars and hated them. Found the grip to be relatively weak but the worst part was the soft sidewall. Def would not have been my choice, but im not sure what choices you had.

I see some potential with future owners buying these for 500-600k and throwing on shit wheels, old strange rubber on them and having some very major high speed problems. Only a few wheel manufacturers I would trust with this car and there is a reason the tires are so expensive. This isn't some $2,000 cup holder...

that was the only thing they offered me. There were tons of options for the front, not the case with the rears.

The my understanding is that the tires are so expensive because they are an extremely limited run, in a unheard of size made specifically for this car. UGR cars mainly run Toyo's and go as fast as the Veyron without any issues (on HRE's, ADV1's and stock wheels), and they can do it for more than 4 minutes or whatever the PAX tires are limited to at that speed. what makes you say aftermarket wheels are "shit"? Weld wheels are cheap as all hell and routinely go 200+ MPH without any issues on drag cars. Fadi is running ADV1's on his stage 2r or 5r or whatever his LP560 is up to now and drives his car harder than probably 99% of Veyron owners out there(not an attack on Veyron owners, but Fadi really drives his car!).

I doubt you will ever see a veyron for 500k unless it has a ton of stories, even then I doubt it, but who knows.

If I recall correctly, the issue with Veyron tires isn't the speed of the car, but the weight. Also I believe the Michelin PAX tires were run flats as well. As you pointed out, most UGRs run toyo R888s, and they can obviously handle insane speeds and acceleration. Koenigsegg and Hennessey both run off the shelf (i believe) Michelin Super Sports (or Pilot Sport Cup 2s) on their cars, and they seem to handle the power and speed well.

  • 4 weeks later...

Wheels look sweet......... I know Bugatti went through some MAJOR R&D with wheels, tires and stems. If it's the wrong stem apparently the tire deflates when running near top speed. The Veyron, unlike most of these "I can go 240mph" cars, is that VAG designed it to go 240+mph for extended periods of time. Heavy car in warm climate going that fast will delaminate most tires. 95% of ppl will never get to that point, so if they wany better looking or more unique wheels, I'm sure they will be fine. Odds are they will keep the OEM wheels and tires anyways for resale. Plus for driving around town, I'd rather kill 3K worth of rubber the 30.
