  1. So sorry to hear about all your troubles! I hate to bring up what may be an obvious thing you've already checked, but by chance, did the previous owner put on non-OEM tires? That might explain some of your diff/tranny issues. AWD Murcis are notoriously sensitive to tire size.
  2. Thank you very much for doing this, MrEd! Great to have all this in one thread! Would love to see one of these unicorns someday in person...
  3. Yeah, not only there, but where he pulls out in the street he hits that spot too and it sounds awful. Normally, the Murci has a nice low-pitched growl at that RPM range. I watched another brief video where the same car has the camera stuck on the rear bumper while the driver is doing a WOT. I'm just not a fan of the "F1 scream" that everyone tries to achieve. By radically altering the exhaust that Lamborghini worked so hard to tune, the balance of the exhaust note has been changed. While it's still recognizably a Murci, it either removes, or covers up by virtue of the higher decibels, some of the music the engine is capable of, and noted for. OK, so the free-flow exhaust allows for more power. I'm all for secondary cat delete, for example. But when modifications to exhaust stretch the legal limits of such (and probably exceed them), I say enough. Can I also say that I hate the videos of someone sitting in a Murci (or other supercar) and revving it just for the sake of doing so...especially on a cold engine...just to make noise and impress others? Just sayin...
  4. Just watched the video with the "Subtle" car. Sounds like ****. I hate the evolution in car exhausts over the past few years that assumes "louder is better." IMO, the best-sounding engine ever made is in the Murci. If you allow the exhaust to be too loud, you can't hear the unique harmonics that make the sound so beautiful.
  5. This probably won't help much, but just for the sake of linking threads, this one discusses the huge variation in hp readings, and drivetrain losses: http://www.lambopower.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=39251 -- also a few dynos. Each beast is different...
  6. Good luck with your project! I hope you can do before/after dyno runs.
  7. Granted, the rubber still can go bad over time, but my main point is the cost, and availability. Braided steel hoses are available easily from several sources, and is a good-quality alternative. Just a thought...
  8. Just out of curiosity, why not braided steel lines -- that should theoretically last the life of the car? Avoid rubbing and heat issues, too. Pricing seems less than what has been quoted for OEM and rebuilds...
  9. I agree about the music, but knowing all the attentive care your care receives gave me great joy watching! What a beauty!
  10. I could be wrong, but I understand that most of the horsepower gain from the LP640 to the SV was from changes to the intake. Would it be cheaper (and more effective) to bolt on the SV intake, or is there not enough room in the compartment? Seems like it should fit...
  11. Hat's off to you for undertaking such a massive project! Pancho's has all the tools, and lots of working space!
  12. Before committing to the R888s, you may want to read some of the reviews on the web. They're very sticky, and reasonably-priced, but also very noisy. If you're running aftermarket exhaust, maybe it doesn't matter, but some claim the noise is quite distracting -- even enough to cause a couple folks to wonder if their wheel bearings were going. There's a trade-off, too, with the stickiness...as that's achieved by a softer compound. So, they'll need replacing more often. Just food for thought...
  13. Big difference in the weight distribution. You can't snap a mid/rear-engine car into tight corners like you can Detroit iron...or even a rice-burner for that matter. I remember watching the video of the Calgary (?) Murci racing a Viper on a highway with other cars around, and spinning it out trying to make a quick lane change. Seeing other accident photos, I think the same thing has happened countless times. Such a shame. I so hope at least the engine and tranny find their way into another car so at least there's not a net loss of 6-speeds...
  14. I certainly hope this is the outcome. I really hate to see this...especially since I have yet to find mine... Just goes to prove, that if you have the money to own one, doesn't necessary mean you have the skill to drive it. Seems like Lambos are getting wrecked left and right...
  15. I was looking at this car, too, but listened to everyone else on this board and passed. Congrats and props to you to forging ahead, and finding the sweetest deal to ever make its way into the used Lambo market!
