Aventador Difference In Years

I remember stumbling across a thread that talks about the year differences a while back, but I can't find it.

I am looking to buy an Aventador coupe.

I know the 2012 cars are prone to have transmission problems.

Are the 2013 to 2016 cars all the same? Can someone break down the new options and features by year if there is any. Thank you!

Off the top of my head:

MY2013 onward have Start/Stop and cylinder deactivation. Suspension setup was revised. Dione wheels were introduced late in the year. Major ECU revision.

MY2014 onward, they did away with the tiny grills on both sides of the rear exhaust. Some new trim options for the interior were introduced. Sport exhaust software upgrade introduced late in the year. Carbon fibre roof panels on the roadster available late in the year.

MY2015 onward, button to override the rear wing was added (finally). More interior trim options and colours were introduced. Race exhaust hardware & software upgrade were added.

MY2016 centre-lock wheels from the SV can be ordered as an option.

(This list isn't exhaustive.)

Early cars had very bouncy suspension and a few electrical gremlins, don't know when this changed though. They gradually resolved the issues but it was annoying.

My 16 SV has been perfect though whereas my 11 Aventador when they first came out had a different light on every time i drove it, although nothing that ever stopped it working, finally decided to let it go when I shifted up and it shifted down!

You can probably go back through my posts and see all the bits as i cant remember that far back

  • 2 weeks later...

First post here. I'm wondering the same. We are Ferrari people. (My wife and I). She has a 458. I have a 430 MT spider. Never cared much for L cars until hearing an Aventador recently in traffic. Sound was magnificent. We've been to two of our local dealers recently. We are considering an Aventador later this year, Just thinking about it at the moment.

We're still tire kicking a bit trying to learn about the car a bit.

Nice sales guy at Prestige Imports in Miami told us on Wed afternoon that best to get 2014 on up because of violent transmission shifts and stiff suspension on the '12 and'13 models.

I'll be lurking here for several months so bear with me. I'll probably have a lot of questions.

While I agree with their year choice regarding he Aventador, wait until the new Aventador is out for prices to drop a bit. You'll save some dough, unless money is of no object.

Money is an object with us. We're doing ok but not in that league.

Yes from 2013 the gearbox had some parts inside strengthened and better sealing as the earlier ones were prone to oil leaks. Gd thing I had mine upgraded to the latest gbox.

Also earlier Aventador's had manual seats for reach, I got that to and I love it. I'm a bit old school and prefer less electronics.
