I just started noticing that there is a gurgling sound coming from what I imagine is the air intake vent right behind the drivers side window. Can anyone tell me if they've experienced anything like this and whats causing it?

No first hand experience, but it could be air in the heater core. Try turning on your heat to full blast and driving around like that for a while to see if the gurgling sound goes away.

I hear that noise sometimes when my car is idling and just started, It has never been a problem and goes away when the car is warm and at higher than idle revs, no idea what it is, I just thought it was some sort of reverb through the air box and intake.

Oh, sorry, I read quickly and thought you meant the A/C vent.

That's definitely strange to have a gurgling sound in the air intake for the engine. Very strange.

I would pull the air filter box lid completely off and examine the filter box for any trapped water, and look inside the throttle body area for any unusual signs.

Hi you are observant, On my car its on the left hand side as you face forwards with the car. Sound comes from the rear high level vent inlet and sounds just as you excellent say Gurgling not easy to explain the sound.

I was told nothing to worry about from the dealer, scavenger pump for the oil and engine.

Hope this helps.

I should have added particularly noticeable at idle

My car never gurgles. Don't know if 640's are different. If it's oil, that can't be good because it would mean pump is sucking air and that's not normal while the car is just idling.

Note the Gurgling is a very good way to describe but mine was very quite and not like drawing air in.

Many people would not pick up on this noise though in a garage easier to pick out.

For peace of mind I asked the main dealer about the sound almost 2 years ago had a major service since (carried out by possibly the best Murci. guy in the UK) and everything is in order and perfect as can be and the sound is still there.

What are you doing when it's making that sound?

Whiteout,

I notice it mostly in idle on a cold start in my garage. I haven't had any time to take the car out lately, but will let you guys know if it changes at all after some driving.

AJC,

yes, that is exactly where i'm hearing it from. Its only coming from the wing on the left side. Have any other LP640 owners noticed this sound at all?

I replied a few days ago that my LP640 has done this from new from the LHS air intake when cold and at idle.

Thanks for the comment yellowmurci johnn, and everyone else that chimed in. I finally had a chance to start the car, and kept it in the garage so that I could clearly hear the gurgle sound. Just like you said, once the car warms up, the sounds fades away, so i gather from the feedback here that its pretty normal. Thanks again for everyone's help.

Can you take a phone video so we can hear the gurgle?

Mine definitely never gurgles, and I park in a garage every day.
