  1. Well guys, After flying all the way over the pond for some McLaren Factory training for technicians and Service managers we got to experience the car first hand on the track. All I can say is WOW... For a new production car company they did not miss a beat. The drive is incredible. Coming from Lamborghini the seamless shifting is something of a shock, but it just pulls like no tomorrow with super smooth acceleration across the whole band. The turbos are tuned flawlessly to add boost over the power range without a sudden surge. The adaptations that they chose in their set up are right on the mark. I thnk most customers are going to be amazed at how smooth and nimble the car drives. It definately is capable of being a daily driver and replacing the Porsche Turbo. The steering and hydrolic roll control is something that I was sceptical of from the traditional sway bar that we are all used to.... Let me tell you these guys got it to work, full stop. It is much smoother than a Gallardo in normal mode, then when you switch it to be more agressive the car just does not roll. The forward facing vision is absolutly perfect, you can pick a spot and steer right to it with no obstructions in your view. One thing that takes a little practice is "pre-cogging" the gear changes for maximum shift speed. with the dual clutch tranny you can pre-load the next gear (up or down) by just pulling slightly on the shift lever (up or down) and it will load that gear, then continue to pull the paddle and it instantly places you into your desired gear.....incredible after you figure it out. Then to top it off is the Holy Grail the F1 McLaren factory. After spending 2 days walking around F1 cars parked everywhere you are just blown away. This place is just off the hook insane, no expense spaired. Divisions running 24 hours a day on F1 development, everyone friendly and totally pasionate about winning. For me who has traveled around the world and been to most of the supercar manufacture factories this one is definately special with the heritage Ron Dennis has kept by never selling a race car. They are all there from McLaren number one. To sum it all up the future looks very bright for this product. They have assembled an incredibly experienced staff of industry experts and definately want to be "the" super sports car of the future and will not let anything hold them back from that. I am happy to be part of this experience and look forward to an unbelievable road ahead. Well guys my plane is boarding so thats it for now....Just wanted to give all you followers an update and hope to see you in our dealership soon Grant Johnson Service Manager Mclaren Newport Beach

  6. Jeff and all, Thanks for the great reviews. If anyone needs any info on a system for their Lambo feel free to contact me at [email protected] or 949-241-9534
  7. Micah, First I want to say that I am glad you feel that your car is now fixed, being it has only been a week since you had it repaired and the shifting problem used to take over a month to rear its ugly head every time we bled the system. But I am glad you are happy. Now regarding your accusations of my service department that Jeff and myself ran diligently earning us the highest praise from both customers and the factory greatly upsets me. Never have we mislead a customer or tried to defraud anyone. Your accusing us of lying and cheating is unfounded and completely miss guided. I am glad that David was supposedly able to fix your car this time. Since he was the technician who Jeff assigned to work on your car last time it was in when we replaced the clutch master. So he, saying that the fluid was never changed is ironic since he was assigned to do the repair. Regarding the oil change and throttle bodies, first off I don’t remember if you had an oil change performed since you bought the car so I can’t say that you did unless you can show me some paper work showing you did as I did thousands of oil changes and I can’t remember every car. If you did then the date on that invoice is the date that would be on that filter. The throttle bodies have always been an issue on 02-03 Murcielago’s. We would clean them for customers regularly to resolve the idle and stalling issues, so to say that I don’t know what I am talking about is outlandish on that issue. As for the lifting system, I would never tell someone that’s the way it is, and “it’s a Wednesday car”. Lifting systems in the early Murcielago’s are a problem. We worked on hundreds of them and replacing the pressure switches is the popular repair. Now this repair not always lasted and sometimes would only last for a few months and the system would require more fine tuning of those pressure switches. Replacing the hose that David did is also another common problem of early Murcielago’s. The hose itself will not fix the lifting system unless it was completely burst and leaking fluid everywhere. The hose is known to “weep” oil and start dripping over time. I can say that we replaced tons of hoses on Murcielago’s for oil leaking, but not for lifting system failure. My guess is David spent time playing with the adjustments on the high and low pressure switches and got it to function correctly at this time. We would do the same many times to cars to just have them return in a month or so with the same issue. Our bottom line was to replace the pressure switches with new factory set ones that came with a warranty in case of failure. But once again I am glad it is fixed, I hope it lasts. Now let me address the issue about David, as David was a former technician that worked for us. I am sure David made a big list for you to through back at us to push Jeff and I under the bus in the blame game. Bottom line is David was laid off by me, so for sure he would like to make up whatever he can to disgrace myself and Jeff as he did not like either one of us and resented being let go. David was a good technician and I would have hoped that he would not have made up ridiculous accusations regarding repairs on your vehicle, but it sounds like he has. That’s all I have to say about him. Let me just say that several of my former technicians from both OC and Calabasas have found themselves new homes and claim to be “Lamborghini Experts”. Truth be told that without Jeff or myself there to back them up they are merely technicians. In fact most of them to this day continue to call Jeff to solve their problems, yet they deny to acknowledge our existence when one of our former customers asks about us. In conclusion, I am glad that you feel your car is now repaired. That’s great and I hope that it lasts and does not continue to malfunction again in several weeks, time to be tested. If in fact David did find the “smoking gun” on your shifting problem then great. I am sorry for the way that you feel about Jeff and myself, but truth be told that we never defrauded you in anyway nor made those ridiculous comments you are claiming. Like I said before Jeff and myself have worked very hard over the past twelve years to build the Lamborghini service reputation that we have. I don’t think we would be so highly regarded by the factory and customers if we acted in the way you are claiming. For all the other Lamborghini customers out there, thank you for your continued support in these tough times. Jeff and I continue to work diligently to take care of your service needs in this time of transition and look forward to seeing all of you again real soon when the new Lamborghini dealer opens in OC real soon……
  8. Hello and thanks for the props. You can reach me directly at 949-241-9534 or via email at [email protected] Feel free to contact Jeff aka (JEFFLAMBO) or myself anytime for all of your service needs in the So-Cal area. We are both still working on cars until the dealership re-opens soon.....
  9. Was justt reading this thread.....Did you get it resolved? First thing I would do is swap the LIE's (engine ecu's) side to side and see what happens. We have seen this too many times as the 1-6 LIE controls a lot more things on the engine that the 7-12. You might have a problem with the 1-6 LIE and since they are the same by swaping them the 7-12 will now become the 1-6 and take control of the "master" requirements which might just solve your problem......Let me know. Grant
  10. Kevin, Yes most of the cars that went through LOC we shut this off as it used to drive us crazy.....I feel the MED system is a great system, you just have to understand that it has multiple layers of protection, which is what you want if someone is trying to steal your car without the use of a flat-bed. Keep in mind that Lamborghini uses this system worldwide due to the fact that in Europe the regulations are much different and a manufacture can be held responsible for a portion of your vehicle loss if stolen. Yes the system is somewhat difficult to service, but it is effective and I believe that is the point. Grant
