To whom the Aventador matters, coupe and roadster models manufactured in Santí#### Bolognese from March 22, 2011 to October 14, 2017 are under recall. No less than 1,700 vehicles are affected in the U.S. according to the automaker.

The issue apparently stems from the software of the engine control module, which is set up to downshift when the engine is running at below 2,000 revolutions per minute. What that means is, the IRS (independent shifting rods) transmission could stall the 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12, thus increasing the risk of an accident.

Bearing in mind the Veneno and Centenario are both based on the Aventador, those special editions are also included in the recall. Adding insult to injury, remember that Lamborghini called back the V12 flagship last year over a fire risk from overfilling the fuel tank.

Owners in the United States will be notified starting August 3, 2018. The fix, as you would expect from a software-related problem, comes in the form of a reflash. In the meantime, customers are advised to call Lamborghini at 1-866-681-6276. Those who would rather do things in a different fashion can refer to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's website, where you can check the vehicle by VIN.

When I sell something I emotionally detatch myself from it so from that perspective I definitely donít miss it, with the HP here and knowing the SVJ is in the pipeline, no love lost.

Having said that, today I drove around with my 5 year old son in the HP, he said papa where is the blue Lamborghini, I said I sold it, he say WHY?? I said which one do you like better? He said both of them icon_mrgreen.gif

Holy shit, this happened to me! Scared the hell out of me. I was doing a canyon run, ran into a very sharp hairpin turn. Car was practically stopped, traffic in front of me and behind me, on a very steep slope and the damn car just stalled then went into limp mode. After a brief moment of sheer panic, i turned car off/on and it seemed to be alright. This explains why it happened.

Thank you for this, not sure how this will be dealt with for us in Canada, but I'll followup with the dealership.
Appreciate the head up!

Top Gear: In eleven years at the company youíve met a huge number of your customers, can you tell us what a typical Lamborghini owner is like?

Stephan Winkleman: It seems very superficial, but itís really male. Usually, theyíre all self-made men Ė ranging from those in the 20s right up to men in their 70s. Theyíre very proud of their product, and they have no fear to be seen in a car like this.

And when I speak to them, I feel that they buy into a world, not only into a product. So itís also a lifestyle, an idea they see behind that. And they enjoy the car as something that is rewarding them for the hard work theyíre doing, or a dream that came true after, say, saving for 20 years.

He IS a mini boss! He almost knew how to pronounce "Lamborghini" before he can speak properly. And he certainly knows his cars! icon_mrgreen.gif

The fix sounds simple enough; not unlike a firmware update which more than likely is exactly that.

Finally 7 years later and after potential legal liability, Lamborghini acknowledge and hopefully really fix the obviously shit sw for the transmission that I and others have complained about for years!

Let’s hope it works better not worse as they did a few years ago when they screwed up the sport auto mode

Kids aren't that interested in cars anymore, in the next few years with all the electric cars in the pipeline they will be viewed as a transport household appliance so we have to do our part to keep the flame LOL
