Dealer etiquette?

Hi everyone, at a part in my life where I wanted to buy Lamborghini, figured I'd start with a preowned Gallardo. I went to Lambo in Dallas twice with the intent on buying but both times seemed nobody was available to talk. These were both walkins. Actually, the receptionist girl the second time was helpful and apologized for the wait. I said i would wait. Waited for another hour, still no one available, still discussing with other clients. She actually stepped up again and apologized, I asked for a contact number to call and maybe speak to a salesman eventually.

Is this usual? Is it the unwritten etiquette to make an appointment first in exotic car dealerships? I hear good things about Dallas but have been disappointed both times. I figure I'd try the appointment method but if still not a favorable experience, I'd have to go somewhere else. I'd figure I'd ask everyone else's experience since this is my first time buying an exotic and don't want to just write them off so quickly.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You waited for an hour?

Yes, the receptionist kept saying the only two salesman were busy. I saw one guy finish with a client, the client left, he went to his office, appeared to be doing some work. This was probably 45 mins into it.i figured he would step out in a bit, apparently he just sat in his office and the receptionist had this awkward embarrassed apology. Hats when I asked her for a contact number.

I just waited because I figure eventually someone would come around. However, figured an hour is kinda crazy to no even have someone say sorry, we'll get to you. After that, i got tired and just left. Had other commitments to do around town by then.

I have always heard good things about Dallas too, but when I have inquired about a car I have not been impressed. Nothing crazy bad, but not what I was expecting given their reputation of being so much better than the rest. Sorry to hear a legitimate customer seemingly got ignored.

I make appointment if I were serious about needing service or test drive. But, I have never had any problem talking to a sales guy. They usually get me within 10 min.

This is one of many poor treatment from Dallas recemtly

I’d call in and make an appointment, your time is more valuable than sitting around hoping someone will help you. Just my thoughts.

+1.

This is what I did when I got my first Lambo a couple years ago. I e-mailed the dealer with the questions I had for the model I wanted to order and I received a response ASAP. Had a quick convo on the phone and booked an appointment. I wouldn't take it personal.

Dealers get a lot of walk ins that aren't serious, so they're far less likely to entertain you right off the bat...I have friends at dealers who've had people come in pretending to buy a car, they even fill out all the paper work and such, but then when the check tries to clear...

It's always best to call ahead and make an appointment if you're serious about buying.

I just back from Texas, you guys out there like your speed, but the funniest sight was a raised white raised Ford F150 towing a Grigio Titans Heracan Performante on a trailer. Yee-ha!

Strange. Been there several times and was always greeted in a timely fashion. I'm always in shorts and t shirts, so they definitely aren't judging me by what I wear.

Customer service is dead in the world of today. Probably a result of the Internet. Buyers think they know everything, sellers probably have to weed out fluff buyers.

Nevertheless, in my business I treat all “customers” like gold. Think it’s a lost art.

It's ashame plastique, I agree, there are times in my occupation of service I would rather not talk to certain folks but it is expected of me to be professional, greet everyone and advice them as they expect me to. I was dissapointed since I am local and would like to support the local dealer and have heard Dallas has a great reputation.

If anybody has recommendations for other dealers, suggestions via pm would be welcomed. Don't mind traveling at this point.

Lambo Dallas is usually great. Call ahead and ask for John Hrad. He has been there for years and is a terrific person to buy from.

sometimes it's better not to have the salesman all over you right off the bat or even an hour later...look around, ponder what your thinking off...when you start to get serious give your name and number to the receptionist. I guarantee you'll get a call back, or the reception will call over a salesman right away. If it's a "Lambo only dealership" as mentioned their not pumping out sales on a daily basis, but by the same token they normally will not have a ton of salesman either, maybe two or three so they have to manage their time. But I can guarantee if your a serious interested buyer you'll get full attention....at least you should!!

Go up to a car, lie down on your back and then slide your underneath the car as far as it can go. Someone will come over to you.

The security detail...LOL

Several years ago I walked in Lambo Dallas with my jeans tucked into my work boots, fishing shirt untucked wearing a cap. Scot Whitworth came right out, greeted me and that's when I bought my first Lambo.

A few months later I had gone to the local chevy place here in Abilene, dressed the same way, drove my old pickup, not my Range Rover or Lambo. Nobody would wait on me, the receptionist didn't even acknowledge me when I walked in or left. I peeked into the windows of a couple vettes, nothing. Salesmen on the phone, texting, moving mouse around on their computers.

I came back an hour later in the Lambo. Front door was opened for me. Greeted by a salesman, even the receptionist! go figure.

I wouldn’t put up with that, the reasons I like Lamborghini as a brand is because I get treated like family every time I walk anywhere irrespective of how I dress or what I drive there in, of course they have to screen the time wasters but how can you do that by ignoring people for over one hour?

OP I’d make contact with the person in charge and let him/her know about the treatment you’ve received, if you want to be treated with contempt you have to try to buy into a Ferrari or a RS Porsche, that’s the main reason I don’t have an interest in those brands, I refuse giving millions to arrogant pricks!

I walked into Lambo Scottsdale and was immediately greeted and even upfront told them I was just checking out what they had. The sales person went above and beyond opened up 3 separate cars so I could compare comfort seats vs sport seats, etc.

Since he did that he will now have any referrals I can send his way and I will also purchase from him in the future. Smart gentleman who knows the power of good customer service.

I walked into Lambo Scottsdale and Rolls Royce and they ignored me the entire time.

What do you expect? You are a Ninja, the whole point of being a Ninja is to be invisible.

I just walk in with no shoes on, works great every time.

If they know me, I’m not waiting at all

If they don’t know me, 2-3 people will approach me and when they figure it out I got action instantly.

I’m dead serious about this. In LA it’s well known ,I do it world wide.

Best,

Eric :)
