from Vanquish to Huracan 610-4

Hello everyone,

Considering swapping my 2016 Aston Martin Vanquish for a new Huracan 610-4. I love the idea of the Aston Martin but there are so many small annoying issues all the time with general build quality, maybe I am just too picky with squeaky sounds and small details.

Any thoughts on Huracan from the perspective of build quality, reliability and general enjoyment with these cars? I have never owned a Lambo before - only 2 short test drives in a Huracan and my first impression was very good although I was not able to push it a lot as it is brand new.

Feedback is welcomed

I've had 3 Aston Martins and I understand where you are coming from. I had a V8V Nurburgring Edition, Casino Royale DBS and lastly a V12 VS. Astons are like seductive mistresses - so damn sexy but have issues so tough to keep long term. I've always felt they were somewhat underpowered until I owned the V12 VS. This car got it right - excellent power to weight ratio, well balanced handling, supreme stopping power. It really is a well designed package.

The two things I can't stand about Aston: massive depreciation and the little quirky annoying things that go wrong - had a stuck fuel cap on multiple cars, the dreaded Emissions warning signal, etc. These are just not acceptable for a $200k+ car. So I always ended up getting rid of the Astons and losing $.

Funny I still kinda lust for one - they are so damn sexy and elegant. Like that old psycho GF you wanna bang again.

I have a Huracan Performante on order but haven't driven a Huracan regularly. I do know a Huracan will be a Hell-of-a-Lot faster than the Vanquish. It will be a tighter cockpit. Less practical storage space. Wayyyy more attention. Better build quality.

You will miss the smell of the Aston leather, the pristine 7 layer paint of the Aston and the sense of being James Bond.

Wow - thanks for your comprehensive reply - that is pretty much spot on how I feel - I want to love the Aston but you feel like it is cheating on you. I am worried that the Huracan will be too "loud" not only sound wise but attention wise too. To make matters worse the one I am looking at is yellow with black rims.

I guess "You only live twice" and if you go Lamborghini there is not much point trying to making it discrete by selecting a Bon color.

Will make up my mind this coming days - toughest car changing decision I have faced.

Big philosophical change here.

Plastique has many good points.

I don't think it will get any easier until you can drive the Huracan.

Agree with Plastique999's comments.

I would add that as much user-friendliness as Lamborghini tries to integrate into the H, it's still not quite a DD overall. Compare to the AM, the H's outward vision is compromised, storage space will be less and it rides quite a bit lower. But the H is better engineered and have much less quirkiness than the AM. If it's considered as a toy, which it likely is, then I don't see much negativity.

Join the Dark side!

It's only tough because you're afraid you'll love the Huracan too much :)

But prepared for all the silly attention, people taking pics of your car, etc.....Lambo's just grab more attention than all other marques.

Astons are much more understated and yes, they have that "boring" crowd....older gentlemen, not many drivers.

Lambo's have a wide array of drivers from kids to racers to older guys with gold chains....you get to choose who you want to hang out with ;)

My first sport car was V8 Vantage but I was in love with Gallardo Nera but couldn't afford it at that time. I loved the V8 (the other choice was Jag XKR) - it's looks, sound and quality. I had zero issues for 4 years and sold it very well. In the meantime I bought Gallardo Spyder and it was so much different, raw and loud. Then I had DBS Volante and loved the looks and the sound and the build quality was very good. Every time I got in it felt (and smelled) special. Since the Gallardo I have always as much alcantara as possible and the wear is minor even after few years. Then I bought Aventador Roadster and SV Roadster and this is the best car on the planet for me. I think I may add Performante Spyder next year to compare it to SV Roadster and probably keep both long term. I would love to get an Aston in the future but I don't know where this company goes - DB11 is a miss in my opinion - it lacks the AM soul.

don't mean to be rude, but I've driven Lambo's since I was 22 and it will NEVER compare to an Aston... once you go Lambo anything else will be boring... btw your car looks SICK.. great choice.. Love Giallo Lambos, that was my first choice but had 2 Yellow Lambos in the past had to mix it.

Just a quick update - sold the yellow Huracan last week after 2 years of great fun and nearly 11,000 km.

If you drove it that much and sold it, I'm curious to see what you replaced it with as well!

The best ever in my opinion - feels very special and a potential keeper. Perhaps we will get some official production numbers later this year when they stop production?

A few more shots attached
