Huracan Speedometer...

Ok, let's not get too excited about how fast the display is telling us our cars are going.

All along I knew there was a difference as the speedometer would indicate a faster reading than the GPS on my Escort iX and Waze. Speedometer says I am going 90, the other two say I am going 86. The faster I go, the bigger the difference.

Today at TI I took a couple fun runs in my stock 17' Spyder. One in Corsa, the other in Sport. I actually clocked faster in Sport mode. My display showed I hit 147 at the line, however the radar at TI clocked me at 137.

yep, speedo's in Lambo's have been off for years, not sure why they don't fix it.... obviously these days they are doing it on purpose...

My BMW is off by the same amount. The dealer said cars are allowed a certain percentage of error and all manufacturers err on the side of a false high reading because it’s safer and also the miles rack up faster which may translate to lower used car values, prices, and even faster replacement with a new car. Plus it means more frequent maintenance if done based on miles. It’s a winner for the dealer

Our Porsche’s are more accurate and usually read the correct speed when checked with GPS. sometimes off by 1 mph which I assume means the error is a fraction of 1 mph.

We wanted the BMW fixed but they said no can do

I’d rather it read high, when you get pulled over it’s always good to get a nice surprise by being told by the officer a lower number than you anticipated :icon_mrgreen:

My Cayenne Turbo S is the same, it reads fast.

I won't argue that at all.
