cuhuba Report post Posted September 3, 2016 So I received my secondary cat deletes today from Fabspeed. Started my little project at 10:00 pm. Let's see how long it takes to get these kitties out. I just hope I don't regret scrapping the primaries later because it's a pain in the butt to do it again. Here's my progress so far 1.5 hrs and 3 beers into my mission. My goal is to wake up my wife by 2:00 am.

cuhuba Report post Posted September 3, 2016 12:12 am, woke up the wife. Sounds waaaay nicer at idle. I had straight pipes on my 04 and it's definitely not as loud. Will really floor it tomorrow and see what she does. Btw, Fabspeed fitment and hardware is top notch!

MrDoctor Report post Posted September 3, 2016 Sweet! Just out of curiosity, did you do a Dyno before/after? Were there any performance gains with deleting the cats? Or, were you just looking for sound and don't care about that? You did that job yourself? Very nice!

Or, were you just looking for sound and don't care about that? You did that job yourself? Very nice! I did it really for the sound more than anything. Based on everything I have read deleting the secondaries makes no real difference in power. Deleting the primaries will gain you some with a proper tune, but will lose low end if not tuned. I experienced that with my 04 that was straight piped. The car already had an LOC muffler delete so I hope the secondary delete will get me right where I want it sound wise. Honestly, the LP640 feels so much more powerful than the 04 that I don't think I would notice a small power gain or loss. Don't get me wrong, I'm a track junkie and love performance mods too. I'll post some track videos
Luxeous Report post Posted September 3, 2016 Mine has both deleted as well, sounds mental. The best way to explain it is that it now sounds like what it used to when I'd drive through a tunnel all the time. When I actually do drive through a tunnel the sound is so powerful it'll give you goosebumps.

Stimpy Report post Posted September 12, 2016 Secondaries are easy. The primaries are a pain the first time, but after you've done it once and learned the tricks, it's pretty quick.

I think what you mean is, once you get single bolt v-bands in the car the primaries are not a bitch.
MrDoctor Report post Posted September 12, 2016 Beer helps me stay focused when I wrench at night. No left over bolts so I guess I'm good to go. Having a beer while working on my car is something I've always wanted to do. I always work on my car, but never had the guts to drink while doing it. I'm afraid the beer will make me too foggy and I'll make a mistake somewhere !
Stimpy Report post Posted September 12, 2016 I think what you mean is, once you get single bolt v-bands in the car the primaries are not a bitch. Yea, it's really just getting the old clamps off for the primaries that's the problem. I showed how to do it in my DIY if someone wants to know. Once you learn the trick of rotating the clamps and you have a boss collection of extensions and swivels, you could pull primaries all day long in about a hour or less over the time to remove the other exhaust parts. (The shops that charge big $$ don't want you to know that!)
cuhuba Report post Posted September 12, 2016 Everything is repetition. I can swap a Chevy small block in about 2 hours solo. Well the wife on the cherry picker. The Lambo is surprisingly simple to wrench on.
cuhuba Report post Posted December 1, 2017 OK, so I am embarking on removing the primaries on my 2008 LP640 and I received the deletes from Fabspeed that look like this: http://www.fabspeed.com/murcielago-primary-catbypass-pipes/ but what I should've received was the ones with the double outlet like these http://www.fabspeed.com/lamborghini-murcie...atbypass-pipes/ I will need to contact my dealer in the morning to sort it out. A question I have is should I order them with the valves or just leave it without valves? And how will this affect my sound and ultimate goal of getting some fire out the back? So far I have Fabspeed secondary deletes and a LOC muffler. I really don't care about being turning the volume down so I'm not sure how crucial it is to retain the whole valve apparatus. Hope somebody can chime in before I start ordering stuff. Thank you.
whiteout Report post Posted December 1, 2017 They sent you pre-LP primaries. Not going to work with your exhaust tip. The valve is unnecessary if you don't care about turning down the volume. But if you're not running a valve, then the LNB exhaust system is basically dead weight since the bypass is the path of least resistance for the exhaust. Personally, I went without the valve since my car's factory pipe had the valves open at all times and like you, I don't care to turn down the volume. I definitely kind of wish I could start from scratch and just do straight pipes, no LNB, no valve BS. But...I'll just do the primaries, no valves, and call it a day. My '04 was just straight pipes (bought it that way) and sounded insane, although sometimes annoying at idle to have a conversation. Question, do you think my no cat system, without valves, and the LNB/LOC muffler will sound and make fire like a straight pipe system? Or does the extra route of gas travel mess up the sound and fire probability?
cuhuba Report post Posted January 19, 2018 So the saga continues. I received the seemingly correct primary deletes with the valve deletes and a pair of O2 sensor spacers.....but the primary deletes only have one bung for an O2 sensor and I realize that the primary cats actually have 2 sensors each. I’m assuming you can’t just run the car with only one sensor? And I assume I need to run a total of 4 O2 sensor spacers. Any thoughts? Fabspeed did the same thing to me on my old lp640 multiple times. They got it right eventually. You need all the oem sensors sometimes you will still throw a CEL and sometimes you don’t. It will be retarded loud if its completely straight. If you keep the LOC exhaust, it will quite it down a little with the x-pipe

whiteout Report post Posted January 21, 2018 Has anyone just removed primary cats and left stock muffler? Any sound clips ? I haven't heard of anyone doing that. But primary deletes with valves and some type of secondary cats is a good option for LP's. Make it LOUD with valves open an reasonable with valves closed. Aside from the power and sound, the stock muffler on the non-SV is so heavy that deleting it makes a significant difference. cuhuba Report post Posted February 23, 2018 So it’s 2:00 am and I’m finally finished installing the primary deletes. My helpful advice is wait until you need an engine out clutch job or something. Holy crap that sucked. I ended up cutting the cats in pieces with a plasma cutter to get them out. Not sure how it works on the early murci, but on the lo640 it was an absolute pain in the ass! I turned it on briefly and on start up it so worth the headache. Tomorrow I’ll do some road testing
