Who needs a CD player anyway :icon_mrgreen:

The car will be done in time for the AZ Ferrari Concourse :aiwebs_017:

Vin, does that thing support CD changer? I have an old Alpine DIN cd changer if you need it. Check if it has a round DIN connector on the back.

I don't think so. Thanks for the offer. How is every thing else going. Coming to AZ again any time soon?

Would you mind me asking how you found that radio? I’m looking for an Alpine 7385L for 1989 Anniversary.

Period correct radio is sooo COOL!

:iamwithstupid:

Buy an Ipod, if you want good music while you drive. Just keep the original, non-working radio in your car.

I have a Blaupunkt Berlin (radio on a stalk - early edition) with in dash cassette and microphone - it records cassette's (was meant supposedly for Dr's to dictate and record) - standard in some special edition 70's Porsche's, Maserati's, and Ferrari's if anyone wants a period correct and perfect condition unit - value ???? or perhaps I can trade it for something you have that is extra cool!

I MAY know of a place in Santa Monica that fixes old Alpines, but I cant remember the name.... I know they do the CD changers. I think it might be "Santa Monica Electronics". 310-396-7781

I remember reading an article in Sports Car World magazine from the late 70's where Balboni took a journo for a ride in a red S1 (black flares, no wing) at allegedly 315 km/h. That car had a Blaupunkt Berlin in it and I just thought it was the coolest looking stereo in the hotest looking car - kept that magazine for like 20 years until it got lost in a move.

I have the manual for a 7385 which came in the leather folder with the original owners manual, service book etc, so I assumed the 7385 was the radio originally fitted to my car. Maybe it was an fitted as option. Or maybe UK spec cars had different radios. Does anybody know?

Ralf, do you actually listen to music in the car? I just found a CD changer that I didnt know I had until I was cleaning the cubby behind the seat. I have yet to put a CD in the CD player and turn on the radio. The engine is too intoxicating to interupt.

What radio is in your car now?

If I remember correctly, and I may not, I thought the '89 Countach was the first car to come with a CD player and tuner in the form of the Alpine 7903. Its one of the reasons why Alpine made such a big deal over their association with Lamborghini. The 7903 was certainly in many '89 cars - and yes I thought all.

Thanks Mick, looks as if I'll have to do some more research. At the moment my car has a modern Alpine which was fitted in 2004, but I'd prefer an original radio.

I'm surprised that they put a 7903 in there instead of the 7909 (their flagship model that year)

Na.... Sponsorship never involves giving away your BEST product.... Its about giving away as little as you can in exchange for the advertising you get in return.

The 7909 is still considered an awesome HU.

Alpine was a pretty HUGE electronics company before the Lamborghini tie-in.... But nobody had heard of them.... For instance.... They made ALL of the head units for BMW in the 80's (and a lot of other car manufacturers as well I assume) but the units were re-branded as BMW, carried none of the Alpine signatures- the green buttons etc....

But in terms of direct to consumer, the Lamborghini ads put them on the map.
