Anyone have any leads so far to putting a deposit down on the new Raptor? Or better yet has anyone drove one yet? Really thinking of picking up one for when we do field training and need a truck not the SUV.

Thanks guys

I been following it since last year. I have a 2016 Platinum now and I am definitely trading it for the Raptor when it comes out. Is this something that will require a deposit? How did he previous gen work?

Have these been released already? I could swear I saw one in Malibu last week with the GULF livery. Truck looked amazing in person, super aggressive!

Nope. Perchance you saw a factory tester.

They won't be in dealerships probably until December/End of January...if I were you and you were wanting one, I would put down a deposit with a dealer and get on the list. My dealer already has a list of people going.

Ford released a teaser video this week. I have a tough time getting over the sound, but based on the few specs they have released I think the performance will easily overcome most objections to getting rid of the 6.2L V8.

^^^They aren't letting you configure anything yet online since there isn't a release date set. And Im pretty sure the first few wave of Raptors will be sold before they even arrive at the dealership.

I didn't know if anyone had any connections with ford in here. I love the Raptor but, Im a big diesel guy and the new F250 Platinum in coming out as well. More then likely Ill lean towards the Raptor since it could be used more for what I need it to do.

Stupid So cal. Price gouging assholes. So first wave was dealer allocations. They all wanted 10k over at least for those. I told them to kiss my ass. Someone I know has one on order and got his VIN already.

Lucky, I called my SVT dealer saying I wanted to order 2 and they never even called me back lol

I'd wait until the first wave dies out. I'm still interested but I would only do it if the Gallardo sells. The raptor appeals because of the turbos, panoramic roof, and better gas mileage than my Tundra. It annoys the hell out of me that they are this close to production and you can't even do a build configurator online for it.

Try Galpin, those guys are usually straight shooters and will probably be allocated 100 of these things the first month.

Are these trucks really that bad ass? Like Willis, I've always been a diesel guy but everyone seems to love this damn Raptor.

I thought I would not like a gas truck after having an F350 years ago but unless you're towing a lot of weight or need a huge bed, I don't miss it a bit. Even my lifted tundra will move out very quick for what it is. Much easier to get around in tight areas and park too compared to most of the diesels.

Just so everyone knows, fcuk dealers who are asking premiums. Ford Performance now builds the Raptors, not SVT. There are no 'allocations', they will build them just like all the other F150's. You can order one from any dealer.

My brother just ordered his yesterday, no premium.

Maybe the order books are open now? The person I know who ordered one lives near you. Either way I was so put off I decided to put the truck on the back burner for now.

As far as the f250 and bigger, I love diesel trucks and thought about a badass 250 platinum but then I read they give about 10-12mpg. Screw that. The most I'll likely ever tow is a couple of jet skis.

I did pick up a Merc gl diesel for the wife so that can do the work in the meantime. It has given 18mpg in mixed driving.

Additionally even though it's not SVT, you still can not get it on x plan or y plan.

Not sure where you got the MPG for the Super Duty from but my wife has an '11 F250 with the 6.7 Powerstroke and she avgs 15MPG. All her driving is off highway at about 7000ft of elevation and higher. She loves the feel when the turbo builds boost so she doesn't drive around with a light foot hunting MPGs.

Raj, any of the diesels are going to be better mileage than the Raptor, especially on longer trips. Really just comes down to the cost of diesel VS regular unleaded where you live.

I looked up the 250 on forums and that's what I read, but TBH I only read a few posts. Chip, the new raptor has a new 7 or 9 speed tranny? and the 3.4? Ecoboost instead of the big v8. It's supposed to be better mileage in mixed driving.

It's a 3.5 liter Ecoboost motor, twin turbocharged - V6. It makes 450hp, which is 39hp over the big 6.2 the previous model has... Plus a lot lighter. Ford is claming a 23% increase in fuel economy... So around 16mpg combined, which is much better than my old one I had. The tranny is a 10 speed, which will be phenomenal. I know here in Nashville, I can call my sales guy and order one anytime I want, which is what our friend did, and what I'll do when I'm done with the Cayenne GTS, however I believe delivery is around Dec right now. No premium, but right now there are no discount of course, so price is what the sticker says.
