Have had this car for a while, have just been too busy and haven't thought about posting pics.

It's a 1998 SV #10 of 20 Monterey Edition. I wasn't actually shopping for a Diablo when this car came across my plate, but I caught wind of it and I could not resist! It has 37k km on it and it is in impeccable condition and runs like a champ!

Here are some pics! First time using imgur so let me know if there's a way to post them direct without having to open a link...

Beautiful Monterey SV. Why don't you have Monterey SV wheels?

If your asking about #2, Monterey Blue, those where the SV wheels that were on it when I bought it in 2013. When I restored her we made a few changes to the wheels so they didn't look like miss mathed jewelry, i.e. Black and gold bull center cap and gold lug nuts to match the outer (factory?) gold bolts. Don't know if each of the 20 ME's all had the same wheel in '98, or if they where car specific to the original buyer.

Congratulations, I own #5 it is Russo Vik with 13k miles. To answer the wheel question. They were decided by the factory as none of the cars were sold prior to the release at the Cali Monterey Concourse in 98 other than for the exception of the first was sold to a lottery winner a few days prior to the display.

Cheers

This isn't a long term keeper for me. Wasn't shopping for it when I bought it. But couldn't resist! It'll be for sale soon Tiago! :)

Always willing to listen to offers!

Surprised that they would - but did the Monterey Edition come with chrome wheels? This is the third Monterey that I've seen or heard-of, with chrome factory wheels.

I came across a yellow one back in 2005 that I'm pretty sure had chrome factory wheels as well (owners name was Oscar, really nice guy).

All 20 Monterey SV came with Monterey wheels which were made by Kinesis(not OZ Racing). They are also lighter than a regular SV. Monterey wheels are super rare and that's the reason people put regular SV on their Monterey. I believe Monterey wheels have been discontinued for 2-3 years.

Chrome wheels - lighter than same/similar style non-chrome? That's a neat trick.

Chrome doesn't adhere to aluminum. It actually takes 5 stages of plating to get a chrome finish on aluminum wheels including a copper layer, nickel, perhaps zinc. It's been awhile since I learned but there are 5 different additional layers on the wheel. Granted there is some erosion of each during the continuing process, but practically speaking - we've had wheels in straight aluminum - and same style/cast/mold/design in chrome finish - and the chrome wheel is always a bit heavier.

Anyway - perhaps the Kinesis wheels are originally of less material, which would explain it. OR - maybe their just polished aluminum (and not actually chrome) which would definitely explain it.

I was offered a 'chrome' Diablo SV wheel (for work) and haven't jumped on it. Learning all of this, perhaps I will.

I think they are saying the Chrome Kinesis wheels that came on the monterrey editions are lighter then the standard 5 spoke block SV wheels that came on the standard cars......

Not all Monterey Editions can with Chrome Kinesis. Mine is # 5 and I have a photo of all 20 that shows some with chrome rims and others with the factory black faced rims. Mine came with the Black faced rims not chrome.

You can also search on YouTube to see the collection back in 98 at the Running of the Bulls to Monterey.

Would you mind posting your photo please? Would love to see all 20 of them together.
