alpha6164 Report post Posted May 3, 2016 I am thinking about adding another vehicle to the collection and wanted to know what your thoughts were. The 08 SL manuals are impossible to find and when found are asking $200k+ and if I was going to go that route options become endless. So since manuals are so hard to come by anyways regardless of pre or post LP would you pick an 08 SL Egear or an 08 manual tranny spyder? For long term value. This is assuming both are in similar conditions and mileage etc. All inputs appreciated.
Chipster Report post Posted May 4, 2016 Colors? That's a tough one though. Long term, I'd have to say the manual but I don't think the SL would be too different value wise.
Livethedream Report post Posted May 4, 2016 As much as I love the 08 SL and I do see it being worth something in the future I believe a manual car either LP or pre LP will be worth more than the SL. This is probably best seen with what is happening with prices of manual Ferrari's.
DarrinB Report post Posted May 4, 2016 I would go with the 08 SL Less than 200 in the states plus the interior is sets it off
Assman Report post Posted May 4, 2016 Long term the SL wins. Look at the Ferrari challenge verses a 360 spyder manual or a 430 scud Vs a manual 430 spyder. The 'sport' models are always more precious.
ATL_ Report post Posted May 4, 2016 IMO, long term, manual cars will not bring a super premium. As soon as the premium gets to big, the tipping basket takes effect and manufacturers will allow them to be spec'd again. Just my opinion. Frankly, just get the SL and do a manual conversion if that is where the value is to you. Can always go back to stock if you want to sell. kinnsella Report post Posted May 4, 2016 SL all the way. Pre LP's manual's are pretty common.
emanon Report post Posted May 4, 2016 08 SL is way more of a special car than a manual spyder imo. But you live in FL, so I can definitely see the appeal of a spyder, but for completely different (non financial) reasons. FikseSTS Report post Posted May 4, 2016 I don't the manual is coming back for Lambo or Ferrari no matter what the premium of old manual cars is... I would go with the SL.... VCR Report post Posted May 8, 2016 SL without a doubt.
djantlive Report post Posted May 8, 2016 I am going with what's said above: SL When I first bought my Gallardo in 2010, SL was around $145-150k. Since then, prices have not gone down. 2010 is pretty much the bottom of the super car price in the last decade. So my guess is it will not go down. 08 sypder was about $155-160k back in 2010. I would venture it is around $130-135k now. Of course, past doesn't always mean the future. And 2008 model year back in 2010 can be still under warranty. By the way, if you do get a manual, I would recommend a coupe. It is lighter and I think a purist would prefer that.

megachad Report post Posted May 26, 2016 I think in a couple years time the argument won't be egear or manual, but N/A vs TURBO... N/A super cars imo will all go up.. so go with the SL..
