IanMan Report post Posted June 21, 2016 I've been seeing this in the news a lot lately. I'm guessing the majority of the members here would be for UK leaving the EU. I'm not a fan of the EU and don't think it has accomplished much at all. I'm interested to read some opinions from our British members and others. I do feel as though there are a lot of news outlets and politicians trying to fear monger people into voting stay, including the recent death of a politician. rmtn Report post Posted June 22, 2016 2 days to voting. They have not been in the money union anyway so that would not change. Biggest plus side changes will be independent refugee policy and getting rid of Greek debt crisis. Negatives will be a lot of import&export customs paid and collected. Interesting to see where they found out being at. I think nobody knows how it will go. But I dont think it changes much even if they decide to let go. Propably marks more to EU it self, would be a new page turned. First time ever major contributor leaving. EU polarises views always. Has enabled good things to finnish car enthusiasts in many ways. And having same current everywhere is ofcourse very good thing. But then there are much to be improved. Imho EU should have stronger military co-op between member countries. capt_chaos Report post Posted June 22, 2016 Money talks, they will stay. I am against leaving but I can see the immigration card being the key factor that swings open the exit door. I don't see a need to be out and the many reasons many voters have given for out are mind bendingly cretinous. Example: Stupid bitch office manager said she is voting out because Hitler wanted to run Europe and this EU is what Hitler wanted. When I pointed out Churchill was actually in favour of the EU and he fought Hitler and what Hitler wanted is nothing like the EU she got all uppity. The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter. Winston Churchill

I've been reading and hearing a lot of negative press and opinions from friends in Europe about the recent influx of immigrants and refugees. It seems like the outsiders are the ones rioting lately and causing there to be more crime. And while I respect Churchill very much and what he believed in, we in the US created the United Nations, and that has over time turned out to accomplish very little and became a farce. I feel that during WWII there was a need for that alliance like the UN and the EU. Today, not so much. But what do I know. I'm not living over there like you. Of course, there's always going to be those idiots with flawed logic like the office manager you mentioned. Churchill said it best: "The best argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter."
VCR Report post Posted June 22, 2016 I see pros and cons to both sides and each have their valid points. New migrants/refugees is definitely a thorny issue and Greece is likely killing all of the "have" countries within the EU. But ultimately, it's always better to stay within as one whole. capt_chaos Report post Posted June 22, 2016 If you live in Syria or any other poor country the UK has an allure no matter Brexit or not. Us in the EU is not a facotr in their decision. We need to sort the border better and that should not factor in how business is done but sadly that is the case.
rmtn Report post Posted June 22, 2016 we in the US created the United Nations, and that has over time turned out to accomplish very little and became a farce. I feel that during WWII there was a need for that alliance like the UN and the EU. Totally different topic but UN is flawed because of the Veto power countries. When 90% of the nations vote that some ridiculous shit happening in the world should be stopped. There is 90% of the time either Russia or China rising hand and saying "Nah we rather not..." And then nothing can be done to that. But even when they fail some, it does not mean world would be like this without it. How many world wars we could of have had since WWII if there was not that common consensus.
