Aventador

I sold my Aventador Roadster mainly because when I got my new Huracan I was amazed at how much better it performed, especially in the transmission dept. I found myself leaving the Aventador in the garage. I absolutely love the looks of the Aventador, especially the Roadster, but it was just not as much fun to drive as the Huracan. The Aventador needs a Double Clutch transmission but I understand it will probably never happen until they make major changes in the design. So last week I purchased a 2017 Ferarri F12 with 450 miles on it. The performance with the DC tranny is amazing. 731 HP is not bad either. I might have gone for the Aventador if it had a better transmission ( DC ) but I jusst did not want to go back to the ISR shifting.

Now if Lamborghini introduces a new improved Aventador with a DC Transmission I will surly take a look at it. In the meantime I"m keeping the Huracan and it looks like the F12 will be a keeper also.

Definitely a misleading title.

Your cars doesn’t NEED need a new transmission. You just like DCT better which is very acceptable. No different than me saying your F12 needs a body shop just cause I think it’s girly as sin. It’s just an opinion.

Congrats on the F12, it's a solid machine. I'm like 1 of 2 people that feels the ISR is much better than the DCT, but I can see why people would like the DCT more. Long live the single clutch :icon_super:

Thanks. I think it will be different enough from my Huracan to make them both enjoyable to drive. I had a 599 and sold it. Really enjoyed that car and missed the Ferrari sound and feel. After having demo'd the F12 I found that it feels somewhat like my 599 but on steroids!

The F12 is an awesome sounding machine and I think it looks a lot better than the 599. The V12 vs V10 will be night and day enough of a difference, you have a very low risk of the F12 and Huracan feeling the same...except when you see the bill at the gas station :eusa_dance:

I was also mislead by the title LOL but I agree 100% with speed2 the A needs a DCT badly, the single clutch ruins it for me, they should’ve worked harder trying to fit one in when they designed the A, they would’ve had the best mid engine V12 sports car on the planet but it’s compromised by the single clutch.

The good news is that they will fix all of that in few years with the replacement :eusa_dance:

If the A had a DC I don’t think I would have bought one. The DC is soooo boring, I hated my Huracan. I drove a Mac 650s for a day and was happy to give it back. The newest car a I have driven is a 488 Spyder and it’s boring AF. In the future I’m really worried about Lambo and DC.

If I hadn't spoken to you earlier I would have been misled by the title as well. :lol2:

I like the antiquated F1 LP egear just fine. It doesn't shift the fastest but at least it still feels like something is actually happening.

My friend with a Mac 570 thought my LP was faster by the butt dyno and sound. Clearly it is not but it actually stimulates some senses.

The 570 is technically impressive but zzzzzzz. Might as well drive it in auto all the time since it feels like an auto and pulling the paddles doesn't actually feel like you did anything at all.

Nothing to worry about.

They killed the 3 pedal manual which is the pinnacle of "feel". So if the mourning period didn't start a few years ago, everything will be fine.

Single vs. Dual clutch is academic; on the street I've found the dual to work better in most scenarios and on the track I did not find it boring. Single on the track (and I guess aggressive street driving) does feel a little better but the jerkiness in normal street driving kills it for me.

It's like when the muscle dudes tune the hell out of their torque converter autos to be faster with higher stall speeds -- kills the drive-ability and smoothness of an auto. Can't have it both ways, which is why the 3 pedal manual on the street will always be the greatest of all time for its versatility. :icon_thumleft:

The interruption of power and immediate restoration gives a nice jolt, typical of what a single clutch semi-auto and manual transmission provides.

Torque converter autos and dual clutch transmissions by virtue of the way the power delivery is never interrupted while making gear shifts means the extra speed comes at the expense of the jolt.

HI-FI I don’t understand but he’s trying to educate me, Ferrari that’s a completely different matter haha.

There’s only one reason the Aventador doesn’t have a dct, they weren’t making any money back then and couldn’t talk VAG into giving them the money to develop the car with one. Of course they wanted one. And now they are making some money and counting the days to be able to fix the most glaring shortcoming in the supercar field.

And yes, I am a little bitter. I really want another Aventador but find ISR undrivable.
