Smash Boy Report post Posted January 12, 2017 Challenger demon. 1000 hp of merica!! I hear it makes AMG 65 owners envious of its torque. Dodge SRT is mostly a one trick pony with their muscle cars, but have embraced it and do a pretty damn good job at that one trick! bWiLKINS Report post Posted January 13, 2017 Hahaha 1000hp might be pushing my needs a little bit. There are a number of companies who already make 1000hp+ upgrades for the existing Hellcat as well should I ever decide I need it. I still cant believe that Dodge is going to be able to make a production car with 1000hp though, thats insane!

I get it though.....those Shelbys went under the radar compared to the Challenger. And those tires look huge on this new monster. bWiLKINS Report post Posted January 13, 2017 Yea I just figure it wont be a super limited production because that just doesnt seem like Dodge's style. Also on a side note, found an even less expensive Hellcat, this one is orange (so it would match my Mazdaspeed) and its only $66k. Getting even better! I think it won't be limited production just limited purchase. Even with 1000hp if it's 100k there won't be a lot of buyers. Yeah limited like the last gen Viper... Anybody want to take a guess how wide they think those front tires are on that Challenger? They have to be at least 295's. I was thinking AWD too, the Hellcats are a handful with "only" 700hp.
emanon Report post Posted January 13, 2017 I am going to guess 800hp AWD. Mine was wishful thinking, you're probably a lot closer. I've been told the existing hellcat could be upgraded (at the dealer level) to over 800hp with nothing but a flash tune and pulley change, should Ford or anyone else come close HP wise. If they execute that or not is tbd. The existing hellcats make more than the advertised HP as it is. If they can really get over 800hp with awd it will be an absolute monster. emanon Report post Posted January 13, 2017 How much do you think they are actually making? Broken in, they do 650ish to the tires pretty consistently on a mustang dyno. I would bet the motor is closer to 740hp.

We'll get $100k Dodge coupes when inflation eventually gets us there. Yeah limited like the last gen Viper... Anybody want to take a guess how wide they think those front tires are on that Challenger? They have to be at least 295's. I was thinking AWD too, the Hellcats are a handful with "only" 700hp. Yeah, they look huge. It's the front tires that grab the attention more....because it seems the rears are the same size. Don't understand the need for such huge fronts. The car could use more tire in general, but usually that's for the rear tires. Cars like the Z/28 and GT350 give you 295-305s up front, but apparently they can get away with it. Broken in, they do 650ish to the tires pretty consistently on a mustang dyno. I would bet the motor is closer to 740hp. That makes sense as the fchatter with the Hellcat constantly says it feels noticeably faster than his late model Viper. Don't think the quoted stock #s of a Hellcat combined with it's heavier weight could do it all by itself. BTW, with respect to AWD.....I get it, but still........muscle was never meant to be AWD. Dodge is all about mechanical grip (look at the Viper ACR) in the handling department. Wide and sticky front tires are an easy way to get some decent front end grip. Luxeous Report post Posted January 13, 2017 Saw the news about the Demon yesterday, unreal. Is AWD actually feasible for that car given the current setup?

I understand what you are saying, but hypothetically...if you had two current Hellcats 1 RWD and 1 AWD you would be talking bus lengths. If winning is that important to you, there are some other Challengers more suited to dragging than the Hellcat: http://blog.caranddriver.com/deep-inhale-m...54-hemi-debuts/ BTW, why can't GM offer launch control? I can get past the AWD thing on a muscle car, but I couldn't get past losing Making a muscle car all wheel drive completely takes the fun out of the car. That is what is so fun about having a muscle car = burnouts and drifting. If I wanted an all wheel drive car then I would have gotten a GTR. But, that is not what I want - just my .02 Found this today and the reason for my post...Hellcat beat the new ZL1 (stock vs stock) by a car length it appears to me. Note though the Hellcat is an automatic and the ZL1 is a stick (the automatics should be out this spring). That is extremely close and I am sure if you did auto vs auto or manual vs manual it would be a win for the ZL1. Pretty impressive for both cars. Chris S Report post Posted January 25, 2017 I'm a member on forums. Haven't seen many trans issues. Blower, driveshaft, clutch are the more likely issues. My friend has early 2016 challenger HC , modded it to 800whp after 500 miles, factory blower took a dump at 3k miles, trans seems to be rock solid and factory clutch is holding the power

The block is a 6.2 liter and only putting out 114 hp/liter, 105 lb-ft/liter after forced induction. Compare that to your typical 911 Turbo, GTR, etc.... What gives? I know this sounds bad, but I think its just a shitty designed/engineered SC, most common thing I have seen is bearing failure and thats what was wrong with my buddies, luckily the dealership was cool about the car being modded and warranted the $12,000 part. We will see how many miles the new one lasts... If it dies again he already decided he is going with the 4.0L whipple and getting crazy with it. I ran 15lbs of boost on my ZR1 for 24k miles with no issues at all

I've been trying to pick up a 2016 B5 Blue on the cheap but dealers are being too greedy.
