Fabspeed primary bypass pipes added...LP640

2007 LP640 - had the secondary and muffler delete and just was not the sound I wanted. Extremely quiet still at idle, etc. I decided to remove the primary cats and went with the Fabspeed bypass pipes. The Fabspeed product looks extremely nice. Fitment is perfect! I will try to get some video with sound soon. Brian at Supercar Specialists did all the work. While my car was in for service we changed all fluids and filters and installed the exhaust. No leaks were found which was great! Car has about 9,400 miles on it. We also replaced the original PZero tires because they were starting to crack. The tire tread was still good but not worth the risk of driving the car with 10 year old tires. I went with the PZero Corsa tires because I prefer them over the regular PZero's. Just a much better tire for the car and definitely has better grip. These tires do throw more rocks from the pavement but the only con of the Corsa tire. The car sounds incredible with this set up and definitely a different sound/note than my 2003 Murcie with the same setup.

Im running the exhaust same exhaust setup on the LP640 and its amazing! Pure perfection. The car is tuned as well, which helped the power band substantially.

Did you program the ECU? Any check engine lights?

No program, no check engine lights. Brian has done a ton of these and no check engine lights as long as you have the 02 sensors, etc all hooked up.

I'm in for the video sound of this exhaust. Do you have any raspy sound at low rpm? or at any rpm at all?

I find that the Murci is very friendly on the CEL when it comes to exhaust. I'm running primary and secondary cats deleted "without" o2 sensor spacer with NO CEL :icon_thumleft:

I saw all those extra pipes as a heavy waste of weight so we asked Fabspeed for something custom and finally after they did the first set wrong, they did the second set RIGHT!

I literally have no X pipes, NO CATS, no muffler, just 2 straight pips that connect to the OEM exhaust pieces and tip. Saves a lot more weight even a little more than Charlies setup above here.

I'm mean, ask yourself, why do you need the extra spot for the old valves that are no longer there anymore? you don't,lol.

I heat wrapped the test pipes and painted the exhaust tips black. It sounds great and is so stupid loud F1 pitched, no in any kind of bad way either.

That's a great design.

I'm in for the video sound of this exhaust. Do you have any raspy sound at low rpm? or at any rpm at all?

I had the same set up as Charlie has. The only raspyness was about 1750rpm-2k, otherwise that set up sounded very nice.

Oh no, I freaking HATE that rasp sound. I have the same exact shit sound at low rpm with Tubi exhaust. My Tubi with just secondary cat deleted sound so much better, but the thing is my ears are not bleeding with that set up.

Just watched the video with the "Subtle" car. Sounds like ****. I hate the evolution in car exhausts over the past few years that assumes "louder is better." IMO, the best-sounding engine ever made is in the Murci. If you allow the exhaust to be too loud, you can't hear the unique harmonics that make the sound so beautiful.

The raspyness was one of those things that could generally be avoided while driving, but if the car is trying to creep along, the manual cars reduce drivetrain drag when the clutch is engaged and that alls the rpms to jump a bit, which puts it into the raspy range. I don't think egear would have a problem controlling the rpm better and crawling at low speeds.

Are you talking about the videos of it in a parking lot where it hits the raspy spot at 1750-2k rpm or the video of it driving?

Yeah, not only there, but where he pulls out in the street he hits that spot too and it sounds awful. Normally, the Murci has a nice low-pitched growl at that RPM range.

I watched another brief video where the same car has the camera stuck on the rear bumper while the driver is doing a WOT. I'm just not a fan of the "F1 scream" that everyone tries to achieve. By radically altering the exhaust that Lamborghini worked so hard to tune, the balance of the exhaust note has been changed. While it's still recognizably a Murci, it either removes, or covers up by virtue of the higher decibels, some of the music the engine is capable of, and noted for.

OK, so the free-flow exhaust allows for more power. I'm all for secondary cat delete, for example. But when modifications to exhaust stretch the legal limits of such (and probably exceed them), I say enough.

Can I also say that I hate the videos of someone sitting in a Murci (or other supercar) and revving it just for the sake of doing so...especially on a cold engine...just to make noise and impress others? Just sayin...

I had (almost) the same exhaust setup (LOC with no cats) on my car and the sound was absolutely unreal but the smell ruined it for me, especially in a roadster. It was literally so bad my wife refused to follow me when we would be going somewhere. Cuhuba graciously sent me stock secondaries and I put those back in - surprisingly the car still sounds very similar at speed. I think this is because the secondaries are a lot smaller than the primaries are. It still has a great growl to it while being quieter at idle (nice) and best of all - no smell.

Did I feel like a little bit less of a man putting cats back in the car? Yes. But at least I smell nice now. Haha

Interesting. On my Murci, the secondary cats are exactly the same size and shape as the primaries.

FYI, that’s my car in all the videos.

Again, that 1750rpm rasp at little to no throttle input is not good, which is why I ultimately changed the exhaust. But, I actually lived with the set up and overall it's a good sound in real life, the 1750rpm rasp could be avoided with more throttle and I think egear cars would avoid the 1750rpm rasp. IMO the RSC sounds better than a LOC/LNB, which I also lived with. I think on a pre-LP with the primaries deleted, the RSC wouldn't have that 1750rpm rasp because there is no bypass pipe to cause the rasp.

The other rolling videos, aside from the one above, are a completely different exhaust.

Everyone has their own taste in exhaust notes, some like the stock muffler while others like it loud and because of this, there are dozens of exhaust combinations to change the sound. Personally I was very disappointed with the stock exhaust; the primary pipes make the exhaust note much more controlled; and primary, secondary & muffler deletes make the car sound very aggressive and result in a significant power gain, lower engine bay temps and weight drop, which is what floats my boat.

As far as revving, the videos were of a Lamborghini event hosted by the local dealer and was almost immediately after I got the new exhaust. Many people from the dealer wanted to hear the exhaust, so I let them hear it. This was not randomly revving, nor was it on a cold start.

The sound being similar is because of the bypass pipes. When you're at speed, the exhaust is going through the bypass and when you're at a low rpm, its going through the cats. I think that is a great set up for people that want the car to scream or be reasonable.

They are the same.

My current exhaust set up is near perfection for me, except that 1 second raspy sound upon the stab of the throttle or even moderate throttle at taking off. Yes I don't have any problem controlling the exhaust sound at all when I'm rolling around town or creeping in traffic, it sounds Exactly how I want it to sound, matter of fact it sounds absolute beast consider I don't have to spend my entire life savings for it lol...sometime I think I'm just being bored when I'm complaining about my exhaust lol.

I'm glad to hear the cats worked out for you. I'm sure your manliness is still unscathed

I had a LOC muffler bypass with secondary cat bypass, i thought it was stock it was so quiet lmao. You guys have to do primary cat bypass it sounds too mild.

Primary and secondary cat bypass with a muffler might be nice as a middle ground option.

All out f1 sound, straight exhaust on the lp640.

I bet the prelp cars are louder based on my experience.

My '03 Murci had LOC secondary & muffler delete and I thought it was stock too. Then I picked up an 02 with a stock exhaust and it was silent.

So I used to have an '04 gated with primary and secondary deletes and unknown muffler, was super loud, occasionally would spit some fire.

My current '08 egear has an LOC muffler (way too quiet), I replaced the secondaries with a Fabspeed delete (great fit and quality) and now it sounds good, but after several months I'm getting the itch to go loud again and I definitely miss spitting some fire (don't judge me).

If I simply add a Fabspeed primary delete will I:

1) Absolutely need to retune the car, or lose some HP/TQ

2) Throw some flames (I would love to be able to roast a marshmallow)

3) Sound nice with the existing LOC muffler

What do you guys think? If I'm only doing deletes for a couple hundred bucks it's no big deal, but pulling the ECU, programming, would make me think twice

1. There is no need to retune, but it's the best way to gain power

2. It will throw some flames

3. I'm not sure how LOC will sound with the LP640 primary deletes and LP640 bypass pipes. Mondi has a modified LOC/LNB and his car sounds great.

Assuming no gains, do you think I may actually lose any power from not tuning? I ask because on every other car that I have decreased back pressure on I have lost some low end torque unless I have it tuned.

I didn't notice any low end loss on either my 6.2 or LP with the long secondary & muffler delete pipes (LOC & RSC).The Murci gains significant top end power with the deletes. I wish I would have had some before/after dyno figures with my car, because the change is very noticeable.
