Aventador SV window tinting

I'm trying to decide whether to tint the windows on my SV. I was thinking that if I do it I would go as dark as possible, which is illegal but hey if i break the law I might as well be do so in style.

Has anyone else out there tinted the windows on their SV? If so how dark did you go?

I remember people reporting issues with the tint getting scratched/damaged inside the door by a bolt or something similar, is that still the case or was the issue addressed by Lambo?

Yes it's still a problem. It has happened on the drivers side window of my other Aventador. It's caused when the window is down and you go over a bump, there is a bolt that is too long (great italian engineering) and the window vibrates and hits it. It causes a small had moon in the tint about 5 cm from the top of the window, the half moon cut is about 4mm in length. Having said all this dark tint still looks awesome on an Aventador, I guess you just have to drive with your windows up all the time.

You can actually take the door lining off and grind down the bolt a bit to stop the problem, it's not a difficult job.

one of my main concerns with tinting is the workmanship of the installer. It's hard enough getting into the car as it is, imagine a tinter working on the small rear window and front window for that matter. I would hate them to scratch my alcantara.

What color is your car? IMO, really dark windows on a dark color causes them to lose some of their sexy lines.

I have a black chrome (vivid vynil wrap) Aventador as my daily driver and an Arancio Atlas (Orange) SV. The black chrome car has tint that lets in 15% of light, the SV has no tint. My matte black and orange Gallardo Superleggera has tint that let's in 5% of light.

Dark tint would look awesome with my Orange SV but I'm in two minds about it now, I think I'll mull over it for another week or so. I'm going to put lime green highlights on the diffuser and around the edges of the car this week, after I have done this I'll decide on the tint.

I'm going to use Avery lime green for the lines, I was going to use the 3m neon green as it would just pop but I found out that neon wrap fades after 3 months. Here are the greens https://www.cheetahwrap.com/shop/color/green-shades

Orange with lime green highlights? hmmmmmm

What colour would you pick? Remember the lines are actually on the black and carbon fibre parts on the car, so it's really green on black then orange on the body of the car.

I just feel orange and green are clashing colors. Perhaps im just envisioning it wrong. Its your car so whatever floats your boat. But Ive always been a very monochromatic type of person. If anything I would match the accent lines to the color of the car. or just leave it stock.. hah. But whatever makes you happy is what works best

I can't leave it stock.... I just can't help myself..... I have allready tinted the rear lights and they came out looking awesome !!!!

Now the million dollar question is what colour lines should I put on the car.

Orange looks solid. A surprisingly good counter color to orange is blue or purple.

Personally I'd keep it stock but would do a light tint, but do what makes you happy :icon_super:

Yeah I think the orange looks ok. I will experiment with a few more colours, the good thing about the lines is that they are easy to remove.

Regarding the tint I think I will black out the windows (5%), the only thing that worries me is how the tinter gets into the car to access the small windows on the left and right, I need to close my eyes when he does it, if I see one mark on the alcantara I will freak out.

I feel you there. With 5% tint how can you see anything? :lol2: It'll look mean, but I've found anything darker than 35% gets scary at night because I can't see anything.

LMAO

If you would be aware of some of the crap that has come out of Budfox's mouth, that gif is SOOOOO appropriate!!!

I have 20% tint on my SV. Regarding the bolt, Lambo Melbourne replaces it with a custom bolt that doesn't cause any issues. Much more elegant solution than grinding the existing bolt down.
