That's very cool. Congrats

Thank Chipster!

My sincere congratulations. Likely someone put far more money and sweat-equity into creating that Jaguar, than he received back.

Enjoy.

Yes, I bet that's very true, double. Orin Smith was a very wealthy collector, and this E-Type was very low on the list of his cars in terms of valuation, but apparently it was very high on his list when it came to driving. Since I don't have his kind of money, I am very glad that I am not the one taking on a multi-year high dollar restoration.

You are a good man doing this for your dad, my hat goes off to you!

Thanks Fortis! I say I can't wait to get the car, but what I mean is that I can't wait for my Dad to start enjoying it. He's very excited. When I became determine to get an E-Type to enjoy with him a couple of months ago, only then in talking to him about which model to get did I learn that he's never even sat in his dream car, much less driven one. He's very British which means even though he's been around E-types very often at Jag events (he was an officer of the local club for years), he was always too polite to ask any of the owners if he could sit in one. So this is going to be great! I only wish I did it sooner, but it's not too late.

Supercool to share this joy with your dad!!! Those memories are going to be fond.

Thanks, Plastique! I agree!

Congratulations on the buy, one of my all time favorites, I am biased as I am English and remember some of my Fathers friends having them.

Great car and Great sentiment for your Father.

Thanks, YellowMurci, I still gravitate to wedge shaped mid-engine exotics, but I do remember having toy E-Types and admiring them a lot, so it's going to be cool getting to know one inside and out. Definitely a sensational car!

Well, to get back off topic, my Dad loves the Jag and now he has finally sat in an E-Type and actually driven his dream spec! He is officially entered in the Keels & Wheel Concours in May, which is a really nice event, and he's excited. The car is very solid, with no rust at all, and good lines, but we have a lot of fettling to do by May, which is good because it gives us more memories to share around the car.
