Murcielago Reid Performance Package, I NEED YOUR Vbox numbers to compare!

Hi Folks,

So while I HAD bought my 09 Monterey Blue lp640 Roadster as more of an 'investment' in the sense of it is Rarity, and it only have 3,500 miles on it when I bought it.

I have NOW 7,500 miles on it and started to mod it! And I kind of dove right in, and first guy I called was WhiteOut (aka Nick Reid).

Nick and I talked it out for a while about all the options of things I could do to make power, if you guys have seen Nick and I debate topics before, we usually gain consensus on things, but when we don't, we just agree to disagree and stay buddies.

So with that caveat (because I am sure some have seen our disagreements on 2wd early murci w/egear)

Nick has put together a hell of a package and HIS personal numbers on his car are quite frankly astonishing (I cant share them right now, because we are going to validate them on another car first before sharing them, and that car would be MINE).

Mods:

2WD conversion (I bought the Titanium Axles and Titanium nuts) and the lp640 kit has a special mount due to the increased power/tq levels, so I got that too (I highly recommend it, if you have an lp640 without the new mount).

Muffler bypass

Secondary CAT bypass (I am keeping my primaries in, Nick has removed those as well on his car)

Intake tubes and filters (Nick has 2 options, I may try both (as I have all the parts to), but I already have a favorite I'm likely going to do and not bother with the other setup).

Catch Can Breather System

New Spark Plugs

***On my own, I'd like to find a tune that will maximize these gains, but I am NOT a fan of mail order tunes as they start conservative by the nature of them. (This will ONLY be after I confirm the Reid KIT AS it comes)***

SO WHAT we need is Vbox numbers from STOCK lp640s, OR if you're modded (that's ok, and of value too), but we'll need to know your actual mods to do a valid comparison.

THANKS to anyone who can help.

I'd like the following vbox numbers: (tell me if you are 91 octane or 93 octane)

Speed(mph)

0 - 60

0- 100

30 - 50

50 - 70

60 - 130

distance (one foot rollout)

0 - 100 feet

0 - 200 feet

0 - 400 feet

0 - 1/8 mile

0 - 1/4 mile

Thanks!

Jon

Good luck with your project! I hope you can do before/after dyno runs.

Cant I didnt do before numbers lol, I was too excited to jump into the project.

Thats why I need someone else's baseline to see what this nets for a difference :)

Final numbers of course I can share, but I want to compare them to base.

That's def not the case..... Jon has done a ton of mods on his own and kept us posted on gains and pitfalls. Nick aka whiteout is an instrumental part of this group and a hell of a guy. He also has helped a ton of forum members in the past. This is truly to ballsy car guys trying out a few mods and keeping us posted. 100% Not a sales pitch

My bad. Carry on.

Yeah it certainly is, if you look at our old posts you will see I fight with Nick as much as we agree, and I am still very much against RWD on an 06 Murci EGEAR with a regular diff. My 06 murci however I DID upgrade to a lp640, so that one can do it and I wouldnt be worried.

I'm not much of a sales pitch guy, and if I was, wouldnt I already be pitching this as the end all? Instead I am saying lets let the data do the talking. When I have the data, I'll share what I have. Look at my other posts, unless someone is a lambo tech (and even then) I likely know more about these cars then anyone else on this forum (save LAMBOJeff he is a god). I put an lp640 transmission (takes special electronics to get it to work), and lp640 rear differential into a non lp640, I've done every bolt on upgrade possible on that car AND did my own clutch job, with no ones physical help (other then lots of information and warnings).

So yeah, I will tell people what works and what doesnt. And sadly and honestly, I had to pay for everything. You'd have an argument if he gave me ANY of it for free, sadly that didnt happen (I would have liked it for my wallet, and dealt with the 'bias nature consequences' here.

Nick and I have an agreement, if it works I'll say it works, if something doesnt work, I'll say that too. (He gets first shot at solution before I post).

Thats it, literally wrenching on the car right now... came to look at a schemetic (for non related) work I am doing on the car.

Thanks,

Jon

Edit: Adding this point (and the honest more clear reason for my post), and I hate to say this because its almost like I am calling Nick a liar (I know he is not), his dyno data is incredible, and if I am saying that there is something to this. It just doesnt add up to me that he pulled these kind of power levels off these mods, BUT if he did, well lets just say I didnt know these cars could make that kinda power NA without a full set of race headers. So yeah, he had dyno data backing it up, but his car was also a test car for lamborghini and the auto magazines, SO there is the small chance that lambo did something to his that others dont have (tune, ported heads), something. BUT if I match or get damn close to his power levels and his vbox levels, we will know the package works, if I dont, well we will know the 'real' value of the package. -I am done defending my post. Any data is appreciated.

Ok Jon no need to get angry ;) fcuk im excited to see where this goes.... no more tearing apart rear diffs... so you sold my sister car did you? I was toying with the LP640... the infinitely variable valve timing on the 640 I hear takes out the power "steps" of our 6.2's... you notice a big difference between the two? Stock for stock?

Yes, I sold your sister into slavery. lol, ok not really, I sold it to a buddy of mine Chad, who is on here called 'underpressure' or something like that. I actually met him YEARS ago when he was searching for a Murci and I let him come see what a great example of one was (mine) and then told him it wasnt for sale, certainly not at the 'cheap' price point he was at. lol. We stayed friends, and about 2 years later, he bought it :)

As far as murci vs lp640, the power increase is nice, and it definitely handles better interestingly enough (because the engine is where all the improvements supposedly were focused on, but I actually like the handling better). The engine is fine, but its no super charged viper v10, and its kind of 'dated' in its power levels, which is why if I cant get it as powerful as Reids, I am going to sell the car, to someone who respects it as a rare lambo, vs me just wanting a damn fast super car. lol.

I do like the upgraded transmission and differential on the lp640's, no argument there. But as far as smoothness and 'better egear' I am not sold so much on its being worlds better. Yeah the power is there, but its not worlds better either. The higher RPMS are nice, but I notice that in NON corsa mode, it seems to short shift (not go to red line), but all in all, its a bad ass car, just needs more power lol.

Good ol Jon... one of the few ppl who need more than 640HP :) Good for you man I hope you can get some solid gains. Some guy on here named alpha something apparently got stupid gains with some custom headers on the 640.. not sure how accurate it was..

Seemingly pretty accurate, he backed it up with Data.... the problem is, the guys who built it for him wont sell an off the shelf unit, they require your car in Florida AND want 8500 ish dollars, AND dont come with ANY CATs, which on a convertible will stink to high hell.

So now you see why Reid's package is appealing to me.... not saying he got similar numbers, or maybe I am lol...

Correct it will shift at 7200 to next gear automatically if not in Corsa.

I'm very interested to see Jon's results and others' VBOX info.

This is purely speculation, but I think the roadster will have more noticeable changes with the complete intake over the coupe because of how restrictive the roadster airbox is in comparison to the coupe.

Between you and whiteout... Im sure you'll squeeze every HP out of that bitch

Honestly I think when this is all done, its going to be an expensive labor of love for me. I don't think I'll be keeping the car, but I SOOO love working on these cars, I am going to 'high water mark' this one, and then list it. The guy who got my 06 Murci truly has an incredible car, that literally cost me DOUBLE what he paid for it. He got a brand new clutch (Hi-Tech exotic w/ new throw-out bearing), lp640 09 tranmission (4k miles on it), lp640 Rear end, one of the (if not THE) HIGHEST optioned out regular muci's I ever saw. 19/20 (9.5 x 19 front (inch wider then anyone else's) 20x13 Rears, integrated Valentine 1, CRAZY sound system, new plugs, new coil packs, Full exhaust, Dyno Tuned by major tuner, etc. The list will bore people so I will stop. Point being, I KNEW I was pouring money into that thing I'd never get back out, but I loved the process of improvement.

This car will get the same love, but I just need something more RAW power. I've got the last of the Viper ACR Extreme's on order, maybe that will help..... already want to see if their is blower/heads&CAM option for the viper as 640hp it comes with also isnt enough.

Anyways, back to this thread, lets see what these mods produce!!

Thanks!

Jon

Just keep modding this one and keep all the stock parts, so when you get bored and sell it to me next year I can park it next to your 06 and put all the spare parts on the shelf.

Hahah, I am starting to think you are right ;), while I THINK he is joking, part of me is thinking that perhaps he is not. lol. I dont know if I can deal with him on another negotiation, I have no blood left to give. ;)

I'm one of the next in line on this little set of mods so I'm anxiously awaiting the data.

I'm an 08 roadster

Reid's new RWD conversion with titanium axle nuts, trans reinforcement (best improvement - much smoother clutch engagement all around, uphill, low speed)

20x9.5, 21x13 wheels with 245/35/20F, 355/25/21R

IPE exhaust with race cats

BMC Drop in filters

Awaiting - Reid conical filters and any tune possible.

How will you get consistent vbox numbers? It's hard to hook up hard in 1st without fishtailing down the street

MW000, you are running the wheels set up above because you're soon doing the RWD conversion right? is the the 20x9.5 up front rub at full turn?

Sorry TOTAL TYPO... 20x8.5 F with the 245/30/20 F PZERO

Yes RWD conversion has been done. It rubs a tiny bit on dips, I haven't done any full lock turns yet, usually slow speed stuff nose lift is up in the places I am

A small bit of camber maybe 2 degrees would solve this
