Hi Members,

I have read in previous posts that you can deactivate the function of having to press the key fob after a short time before you can start your car, I understand that if you turn on & off the ignition key 10 times and then press the fob 17 times it will deactivate this function. However before I do this I want to be sure that I will not accidently cause myself an issue that i cannot reverse, can some one please explain or confirm the following points:

What will happen if I make a mistake and miss count the button presses or ignition key turns?

When turning the Key on & off 10 times do you have to do this fast, slow or withinn a particular time? Including the Fob

Are the functions displayed anywhere on the dash ect or do you just press and prey? how do you know if you are in programming mode?

Can doing the above go wrong in any way that will prevent me from deactivating the alarm system?

Your confirmation of the above would be greatly appreciated

What happens if this process happens to go pear shaped???

Turn the key off and on at a normal rate not to fast or to slow. If you do the on/off right the alarm will respond and the led light will flash. when you press the fob button the led will flash with each push. If you enter wrong # it may turn off or on a different funtion. Without my book for alarm in front of me I dont recall which dose what.

Good luck.

Thanks Jeff,

I now have the Med2000.K installer booklet and am ready to give it a go, I am just concerned about shutting the system down and not being able to get the system / car going again?

I have spoken to the Local dealer and apparently I can order additional Fob's that are enabled but i will have to install them. The book appears to explain a procedure where you actually dump all programmed Fob's and you reinstall the ones you have, this must be their way of deleting lost Fob's. have you had any experience with this yourself? again i am concerned about locking myself out of the system.

Your comments are appreciated

I disabled the alarm on my 06 however the door locking function through the key fob also became innoperable , so I reactivated the alarm .

I do have the Med instructions that came with my car and would fax them to you if you need them .

Could you post the MED instructions here instead here in the forum instead? I would like to disable the alarm system as it is more problems than its worth.
