Anyone have Axle Problems with Novitec Lowering Springs?

A friend has a 2015 Huracan LP-610 and we did the Novitec lowering springs.

It has now blown the boots on the front CV axles twice. The boots just completely tear and shoot the grease out.

It has aftermarket wheels as well but I just cant imagine that wheels can cause this. Same as stock sizes.

The theory was that the lowered angle was too aggressive which blows the boots??

Anyone have this issue at all?

He got another set of axles and raised the car .5" and it did it again.

UGR guys experienced this at all?

Thanks!

I have NOVITEC/KW's on my car.....HRE's.....different offsets than stock....thus far ZERO issues (knock on wood).

Peter

While the wheels may be the same "size" are the off-sets the same? Might be part of the problem.

You have a full coilover set up on it? That might explain why you don't have an issues. Just having springs and no supporting or additional parts may be a problem for the original poster, but i'm not a suspension expert. Just thinking out loud.

I think what Peter is talking about is the KW HAS setup, which for the Huracan is sold exclusively through Novitec and most people just refer to as Novitec "springs." But it actually also includes an adjustable spring perch, which works with the stock shocks. Not sure how wide the adjustment range is but you can take it pretty low if you want.

"..blown the boots...completely tear.."

Food for thought comments:

Are the torn at the ends?

One single tear horizontal?

Tear vertical?

Cut or stress tears?

Multiple tears on both sides?

Thinking out loud:

Too much grease, securing clamps cutting boots, excess suspension travel, excess steering/ tie rod movement, outside source such as speed bumps or driveways, boots are touching some part of the car, incorrect boots such as too short, heat melting the boots.

In for the cause and cure.

Good hunting.

What is the purpose of changing out highly engineered OEM parts for those manufactured by a small company with less engineering acumen than Lamborghini enjoys? The Huracan was designed by the best of the best.

After further review, we are not looking at the Spring kit anymore as the culprit....was just fishing to see if anyone had issues like this before.

There are supposedly over 100 cars on the road with that spring kit and no issues to speak of.

Both boots ripped at the same time....seems like a heat issue of some kind. Very strange.

  • 2 weeks later...

Did you do the install yourself? Is there a chance someone used a mallet or something to "seat" the axles in place while working on the suspension?

Turned out to be a tire sizing issue. It messed with the cars electronics which caused the heat/failure. Put the factory tire sizes back on....all better.

Thanks!

Would be very useful to know what size tires he was running that allegedly caused the problem?
