Bought a car to be imported from Japan when it turns 25, and the deal has gone south (company has disappeared).

Any recommendations on counsel?

Can you explain more once you're able? How long before the car was 25 did you buy It? Hope there is some resolution for you.

Spoke to a couple of lawyers from a quick google search, sounds like I'm SOL.

It was just a little experiment in the importing of the 90's Japanese cars. I had secured a Mitsubishi Evolution 4 to be imported in November of 2021. The car was $6,700 so there's not a ton on the line, but it was more about the experience. I was going to fly over and drive it around Japan and hopefully sell it for a little profit once it was delivered.

Turns out, the company I had purchased it from closed up shop and the owners disappeared. There are a few other parties in the middle of litigation so I don't want to post too many details.

There is hope, because the car exists and the owner of the Japanese shop is in close communication with myself and the other people importing cars. He's trying his best to salvage the situation so I'm quite grateful for him.

Believe me, when I feel I'm able to, I will post all the details.

I didn't even know that was possible. I asked because if I sell my Tundra, I may get a restored Defender. But at most, they only sell those a couple months away from 25 years. Hope it works out for you.

I appreciate it. There's a pretty big market for the imported cars, but there are a LOT of scumbags around. They feed off the ambiguity and nuances of the law and people's general lack of knowledge. If you have any questions about the process please don't hesitate to reach out, I've become pretty well versed.
