JohnLP560 Report post Posted December 17, 2017 Took my car out for a drive after 2 weeks of being on a battery tender. Drove normal with no problems. Parked it for about an hour and when I tried starting it, it started up and died right away. I thought it was a glitch and started it again. The second time the car started right up and I was able to drive home. The car drove normal and I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. Once I pulled it into the garage and shut it off, I tried starting it again to see if there were any problems. This time it just keeps dying and will not hold an idle. Anyone else ever encounter this problem before?
topjay Report post Posted December 17, 2017 Could be an immobiliser problem, is key damaged / wet, maybe try changing its battery. Seems odd it started a couple of times, I guess an electrical gremlin or fuel but no other ideas

I just changed the battery on the car about a month ago from the dealer. Not cheap

cake Report post Posted December 17, 2017 Hmm, I will try my other key tonight. I just changed the battery on the car about a month ago from the dealer. Not cheap Since the battery was just changed - I suggest checking the connections to be sure they are correct and have good contact. I had all sorts of weird gremlins that happened one night in my LP560 and it turned out to be a loose battery connection. It was shortly after a dealer battery change, and when they reinstalled the battery they did a poor job with the connections. It's worth checking as it's very simple to rule out. Good luck! is key damaged / wet, maybe try changing its battery. Topjay - did you mean the battery to the key? That's what I thought when I read your post. VCR Report post Posted December 17, 2017 I second cake's comment. The AV also has a super capacitor next to the battery and its harness is somewhat complex. Something could have been inadvertently loosen while they changed the battery. Be careful though, the electrical current from the super capacitor is no laughing matter and can give you the shock of your life. JohnLP560 Report post Posted December 18, 2017 Used my second key today and the car seemed to start up and idle fine. Didn't get a chance to drive it. Going to change the battery on both my keys and see if it still does it.
RDW Report post Posted December 18, 2017 Also I've heard that if the super capacitor is dead even with a good battery the engine will start but you cannot put it in gear...
JohnLP560 Report post Posted December 28, 2017 Also I've heard that if the super capacitor is dead even with a good battery the engine will start but you cannot put it in gear... I have no idea what the super capacitor is. I have an appointment with my dealer in a week. Last week I took the car out and I was able to drive it. Started up fine and drove fine with no check engine lights. After I shut it off for an hour, it did the same thing again. Starts up and immediately dies. I tried a few times and eventually got it stay idling and drove home.
djantlive Report post Posted December 28, 2017 You using Bmc or lglc? I would avoid Bmc

Part of the start/stop system and the ISR transmission, not aware of all the technical implications, just know if it's dead you'll have problems...https://www.scuderiacarparts.com/part/252290/lamborghini/470971417/ultracapacitor-power-box.html
svoshop Report post Posted December 31, 2017 Lifting fault lamp on ? Sounded slow to start / crank too. I suspect low system voltage. Or a charging system malfunction.
JohnLP560 Report post Posted January 9, 2018 Took it to the dealer and of course, they could not replicate it. They say everything checked out fine and the car is not throwing any codes at all. They said if its the supercapacitor the car wouldn't start at all. One thing I've noticed is this happens when I take the car off the battery tender. But are you sure the battery tender is working / hooked up correctly. On my Lamborghini tender, if I plug into the car before the outlet it simply seems to test the battery. Doesn't actually charge the car. Just my 0.02 Mike

On my Mclaren I just plug in the AC Adapter and leave it.
