Some mods to my gated 640

The car is bone stock now, minus secondary cat and muffler delete pipes. Beginning to get a bit bored with it. Thinking of doing this:

Install a wing I already have that i got from Roy

Make it RWD

Tune ECU

Get 670SV wheels (hopefully they're not a fortune)

Update complete interior with carbon fiber as there is none now

Change calipers to VI

Possibly find something to splash some VI on, in the interior

Maybe paint wing VI to match calipers

Possibly wrap the entire passenger right side of the car gloss white. (Not sure how that works with the VI)

What else do you guys think I can do? Or do you think something on my list sucks and why?

Thanks in advance.

Scrap the vi wing idea and white half of car. Other than that put on as much carbon as possible and you'll be good to go. Good luck finding 670 rims, they are like hens teeth by now. A member here had adv1 make copies of them that looked good. That would probably be an easier option.

Here's your hen's tooth: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Set-4-Genuine-OEM-...104&vxp=mtr

Roy said there are another 2 sets for sale for around the same price right now. That's plenty.

John,

The link that Stimpy posted is LP Member "Doubles" listing, he owns one of the biggest OEM wheel companies in Florida. He is a very good guy and has been around LP a long time, I'd definitely recommend dealing with him first if those are the wheels you want.

I'm having a hard time picturing the VI painted wing idea you mentioned, but everything else you mentioned sounds wicked. Car is going to look fantastic with a wing. Did you buy a black one or the high gloss carbon fiber one that Roy was selling?

The green wing and half a white wrap sound like terrible ideas but the rest of it sounds like a good plan. Wheels and carbon interior items should be the first priority if you ask me.

I should have elaborated on the half white thing. I know it's a bit stupid sounding, but I thought it looked cool on some cars I saw. But I agree it doesn't work well on a rare 640 like this. Also I am bad with color options/matching etc. Not like some of you guys, which is why I wanted to see what LP thought.

I didn't think the wing matching the VI calipers sounded that bad. I like I said, I am pretty horrible at color matching/etc. So i will keep it gloss black and put it on.

I do know I wouldn't have done the wing in VI AND make the car half white at the same time. It would have been one or the other, but I will do neither at this point. :)

Thanks Roy. I'll let you know when I want to get those wheels. I first need to decide if I should def get the new H Perf. If I do, then I will live with the wheels on my car already. Hopefully I have time to make the decision soon.

I am 100% against painting things (other than calipers) to add pops of color on a black car - just looks weird. If you are really wanting something different you should wrap it!

RWD is fun as well, car feels much more raw. I've messed with my exhaust a ton and found that my favorite combo so far is LOC with secondaries IN and primaries out - will be louder than taking out the secondaries but no overwhelming gas smell.

New wheels are fun as well, I did 19/20 HRE P104s and everyone who sees the car says they still look stock.. which is awesome. :)

Not sure how important performance is for you, but increasing unsprung weight is a performance killer. I mention this - because I'm surprised at just how light, the Murcielago SV wheels are. Granted at 18" - there's literally less wheel to have to make. But beyond that, between the design as well as the forged construction, they're really lightweight. That's great for performance.

I strongly considered repurposing this set for my own use on my personal 99 SV that I've been servicing as well as modding for the past 6 months. Ultimately, decided to do something with the wheels that was way harder to accomplish, but more interesting to me. Also, more performance is not my priority for this vehicle.

  • 2 weeks later...

If you're going to go RWD, I would do full custom wheels.

Also for the SV wing, I would only go full SV conversion or nothing.

I did 20x9.5/21x13 wheels 245/30/20 355/25/21

I am also going full SV conversion with fenders
