  • 2 weeks later...

So stupidly close.

All relays are finished. Fusebox all done. Entire megasquirt harness is wired up and ready. At this point all I need to do is run the starter wire, along with the "on" wire for the ignition and it'll be ready to test start.

Unfortunately, the terminal end I wanted to use for the battery positive is uhhh, somehow missing. By that I mean I placed it in a place I would not to forget, only to forget where that very safe place is.

I'll just buy another one tomorrow, whatever.

At this point, I have a few little things to finish up: the oil supply line needs to be extended around the starter, i need to plug the last few lines that go to the heater core (that is currently NOT connected). Need to connect the MSD which should be no problem.

So...

- Megasquirt is go for testing tomorrow

- Injectors, pump, relays are done minus the "on" wires

- Fusebox done

- O2 controller also good to go

- TPS is wired and ready

- All main grounds except a handful are finished.

Need:

- On and Start wires from ignition

- MSD wire into fusebox.

- Oil line extension

- Double check all coolant hoses

- Run down checklist and make sure nothing is forgotten

- Re-attach linkage

Lastly:

- Turn key.

God damn it !!! Start this damn car already!!!

Basically how I feel. Seems every time I go to do something to get it up, it's one more thing, then another. I don't think it's unreasonable to have a start by end of the week depending on time vampires. That's been my biggest hurdle is people randomly coming over, "hey man how's the car coming along?"

"Good, but, you know... people keep coming and interrupting me."

I hate telling people to leave, but i've been doing a lot of that lately.

Sooo close... Looking forward to THAT particular day.

Please don't misplace the key now... :icon_mrgreen: (J/K!)

I've kept them in the ignition (the car itself isn't going anywhere, the rear axles aren't even in) so I don't lose them lol.

Almost got there last night.

Megasquirt is good. Sensors calibrated. Everything is set. Pump priming as it should.

Need to hook up the MSD (running out of room in the engine bay lol) and then add fluids and fire it up.

Had a long crappy day at work. I'm done for tonight. I'll post 24 hours in advance before first start and stream it live.

I took a 3 day weekend for this, so this is happening THIS WEEKEND. I got the return line fixed the way i want it as well.

checklist:

Fluids (oil, gas, coolant)

MSD wire up (need to find a place to mount it properly. Might do it in the trunk where it's safe from heat)

Adjust PSI for fuel rail

Double check O2 calibration for ECU

Hook up the coolant reservoir

Finish blocking off the heater core outlets

Hook the linkage back up, and find that god damn stupid piece of linkage for the throttle that I lost (i can hand berkeley with it if i need to for first start without throttle cable)

After that, I can try to start it. Should have most of that done tomorrow night. Saturday or Sunday may be first startup.

Sadly, tonight it sounds like I may be working till 9 due to having to fill in for some security stuff. Lame.

Long shift, long hours, so I won't get much done tonight. If any. I took monday off. So 3 day weekend. Will post 24 hours in advance before startup so I can live stream it.

That first drive will melt those stresses away!

first drive won't be until i've completely rewired stuff to make it street legal, which won't be too big of an issue. Still, more wiring till it's street legal. The first start though will make everything worth it.

Sadly, on the Jalpa, the entire harness runs along the top of the dashboard. So once the first start is done I still need to put in relays, get things going there, and make it so that all the gauges are good to go, headlights work (found a great wiring diagram for that i can wire myself), window motors are good, and turn signals and brake lights are gravy.

I thought about using the stock harness, but after seeing what i'll need to recreate, I can make my own harness a lot easier with today's technology, and do a lot of it with microcontrollers.

Not to mention the GPS speedometer and what not.

IT'S ALIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE

I couldn't wait any longer and just went ahead and did it.

The smoke is a huge exhaust leak from one of the donuts not sealing from the header. Need to fix that.

fcuk YEAHHHHHHHHHHH

Map is still way too rich but this is leaned out a bit. Idling properly. Bit of a low spot in the idle and it then gets back to normal. But that's fine since it's just a matter of fcuking with the map.

MOAAAAAAAAR

For the guy who will remain unnamed who said my car was a waste of time and I wasn't going to get anywhere with it. I know he's probably reading this.
