I just realized the MP4 reveal was exactly 6 years ago.

yep, and both 12c and 720 have horrible front ends :(

I love the brand but hate some of the front angles. P1 & 675 look great, but 12c, 570, 720 they dropped the ball IMO

Amazing how dated the 12c looks. Could have been released 16 years ago.

 

Just watched the Shmee video. I actually think it looks pretty stunning, especially in that color. Shame about the headlights, though. Looks like they have significantly upped the interior design and quality.

I find it funny how they copied they Aventador SV seat design. That being said the interior is great. But man that front is just HIDEOUS.

I like the rear and interior but everything else looks like crap. All the lines and the curves...they're all random and lead nowhere. The design is far too busy looking. Perhaps it's just the pictures. It'll be fast AF though for sure, probably Veyron quick up to 250 km/h.

I like it, but I don't love it. A few "updates" to the design would do wonders for the look of the car. Bigger tail, better wheels, and change those god forsaken headlights and I think all would be pretty legit. but for some reason, the design just does not click for me.

this car is going to destroy anything near it's price range and more.... 70HP more than my 650S and lighter... jeeeezzzeeee

straight line, I agree. but on the track the P should run the show IMO

I agree, also the 720S will feel like a fast laptop, having said that I am starting to really like it, if it wasn't for those God damn cadaver eye sockets they'd probably have my money LOL looking forward to test driving one.

 

Is this priced over the 675 LT in the States or a 650S levels? Got to ask since they must be sending local news via pigeons :rolleyes:

In more than one interview I have heard one of the mclaren designers refer to the "eye sockets"

I almost injured my own eye socket rolling my eyes.

 

Mso car looks great and the door is mental.

Can't say definitively without seeing the car in the flesh, but I would expect this car to look much better in the dark palladium finish and in the blue/grey/white colors.

 

The MSO car is unreal with the paint going into the red carbon weave.

 

As far as suggesting this car being a fast laptop, I would say the same could be said for all modern supercars with DCT. Same can be said about a F16 vs a P51. Only MarkNC would really know being he's the first person outside of McLaren to drive the 720S for several days. Exhaust on this car sounds like a old school Group C car. Savage.

Can't stand electrical feeling (self-driving) cars, ala GTR's....drive TOO good. All the GTR young kids drive fast track times and think they know how to track, when it's All car.

What does the 720 go for? $295k?

I agree, they feel very sterile, you feel like the passenger not the driver, no offense but that's what happens when you let people in white coats design your cars, they suck the souls out of them LOL

 

That's why they drop like rocks, customers are all excited until they realize they need more excitement in their lives.

 

I personally think McLaren is a good alternative to a Porsche Turbo it's missing few ingredients for them being able to compete with Italian exotica, since I started to look at them from that angle they started to spark my interest.

Saw the car in person in Geneva. Visit Mclaren several times because I wanted to make sure it just wasn't me. There is some really off with the proportions and the line. Don't get me started on the headlight and eye sockets as they call it. It is just disproportional. I am sure they serve a great purpose but execution is key and it looks like Skeletor or I saw a meme which was tweety bird. Rear is ok but still off... looks better with the wing up. Interior is a needed update. I see their are using forged carbon too like Lambo in certain components of the car. Still needs some work--maybe in time it will grow on me but for now, it's looks are not its strongest suit.

The reviews are in and here is one of them:

 

Car and Driver had an interesting comment in their review that made me stop skimming the article and take it a bit more seriously.

"Haydn Baker, the man who led development of the 720S, said his baby is quicker around a circuit than the 675LT was—exceeding the original engineering brief for the project—and admitted that it’s actually faster than the almighty 903-hp P1 around most tracks. That fact alone pretty much justifies the $288,845 price of admission."

I can`t wait to see this thing against Huracan Performante on any track. Can`t wait.

 

It's going to be very interesting, my gut tells the Maccer will be faster. Hopefully, I am proven wrong.

On paper Lambo has no chance.

100 kg heavier

80 hp less

170 Nm less

but there is ALA...

Which is a load of shit. Both on trofeo R, the performante has it's work cut out for it. On the track videos of this car at vallelunga, the aero grip is almost visible with the crazy 120 mph sweeper corner speed
