With those miles? Seems like there's a lot of them for sale now, I'd rather pay a little more and get something with fewer miles.

Isn't that msrp?

Is it $83K USD?

The mileage is a bit high but that wouldn't bother me as long as service has been done - it should probably have had two oil changes minimum, and many people are doing an oil change before break-in is complete or at completion (1000-2000) miles.

If you can find out you'd want to understand track use, and I would NOT buy a car without seeing a very recent DME report showing over-revs. Any over-revs noted in ranges 1 & 2 are okay and deemed acceptable. Anything in range 3 is borderline IMO, but ranges 4-5-6 are NOT acceptable and Porsche will usually not CPO a car with over-revs in 4-5-6 (I'm told). It means there is possible damage or compromise to the engine which could result in a much shorter engine life and possible catastrophic failure.

22km is roughly 13.5k miles and there are several GT4's (especially the earlier 2015 builds) that have racked up over 10K miles at this point - so the miles don't bother me as long as the car hasn't been abused. Tough to know unless you know the seller, and can see a DME, and possibly understand track use.

That's well under msrp which started at $84,600 USD

Unless someone painted the calipers yellow after market - those signify PCCB which is around $7000. If the car had no other options (unlikely) MSRP would be roughly $91,600 (I don't recall the exact cost of the PCCB option).

There are plenty for sale in the US and a few have been listed a little under MSRP (a couple thousand $) generally because of the need to sell quickly. Some are still selling over MSRP. I sold our yellow car to a CA buyer for over MSRP and it had 5500 miles.

If there is zero accident history and everything on the car is okay - confirmed with PPI - I would consider it but what I'm wondering is why it's so below market (if those are USD). Especially if they are rare in Mexico (if that's where the car is located) - why would it be priced in that way?

It would be good to get the build sheet or option list and know exactly how it's spec'd. That will tell you how far below MSRP it's priced.

There have been some documented 3rd gear failures and I believe two strut tower failures and on the unlikely chance this car has experienced either of those - you'd want to understand the repair. It's still under warranty so that is somewhat comforting.

Good luck!

IMO I see the value of these cars with those kind of miles falling rapidly. Also the fact that every Porsche dealer around me has a few for sale (under 6k miles) doesn't bode well either.

Can you bring it back from Mexico without hassle?

Also, strut tower failures? Wtf?!

yeah there are a few confirmed strut tower failures and several confirmed third gear failures. Porsche is stepping up but it's disturbing. Some are tracked cars - some with only street miles.

Following it closely and hoping mine is not part of the affected group. So far no info on VIN ranges

I am not sure I would want to be holding that potato when the GT4 Cayman with the 4.0L motor drops here shortly. I see those values dropping rapidly.

I don't see a 4.0L in a Cayman any time soon. I could be wrong but they seem very reluctant to get too close in performance to the 911.

But I also know there is always the next gen and it's gotta be better than the last.

I wonder when they'll go turbo on the GT cars. At some point normally aspirated goes away and then the "potato" starts to look pretty good.

Time will tell

I think the manual GT3 will adversely affect GT4 values. Many of the GT3 guys who bailed out because they want a manual will move back into a GT3 when the stick is released. Some will stay after seeing the beauty of the mid engine platform but for some the GT3 is preferred.

Too many miles considering how many are out there for sale. GT4RS is coming which will hurt value. Engine rumors are 3.8, 4.0 and turbo. Personally I don't believe 4.0 and the 3.8 is retired. If I was Porsche and had to break the ice on a turbo GT car, I'd start with the GT4.

Where did you hear GT4RS? They have expressly said it's not gonna happen - but they say a lot of stuff and until it's "official" it's rumor. It's been debated to death on the "porsche forum" and the presiding wisdom is: no forthcoming GT4RS

I don't know. I'm just curious where you're getting the info.

i've heard the same debate and so far the "RS" seems like just a rumor. the GT4 has taken as long as it has to become a reality because of fear of it out performing some of their higher end vehicles. so i'd assume a GT4-RS would be even LESS of a possibility... i'm going to assume we'll see a next generation GT4 before we see an RS in the next handful of years.

IMO live in the moment or life will pass you by, there will ALWAYS be something better and newer around the corner when it comes to tech, cars, etc. If you always wait for "the best" you will be missing on everything.

The GT4 is a very enjoyable little car, do not expect miracles because you won't really find any, that's why I hate magazine reviewers, if one gets excited they all seem to do, very few go against the grain, now they all go gaga over a no frills manual car and they all rave about them, that's why the 991 R or whatever they call it sells for $1 mil :eusa_wall:

Don't be fooled, 911R isn't bringing that kind of coin. The whole manual thing is a hype, at least I think so. You can still buy the normal 911 in a manual, and with the new turbo motor, is faster than the previous 911S by a wide margin. I know that at least one 911R here in the states traded hands back of 500k for a white car. I know of a yellow one I can buy and sell for back of 700k without trying (if it is still available). A lot of money for that shifter.

No expert on this at all but wouldn't a 4litre engine on a Cayman be too much? Of course, power will always be the more the merrier but now we have to factor in the added hardware and thus weight to make everything work. I knew some say the Mercedes C36 and C43 are better balance over all as the C55 and higher are front-heavy with the bigger engine and tend to plow when turning at high speed. While the GT4RS is mid-engine so it may negate the imbalance, it will be heavier so isn't that not a good thing?

It would replace a 3.8 so no difference in size and weight, just a little more power and torque.

Cake, some VIPs have been talking 2RS., Speedster, 3 Touring, etc.

Thanks for the feedback you certainly know more than me, I only see asking prices, the manuals are an absolute hype, I place manual lovers in the same box would the incandescent light bulb ones LOL.

Haha! Careful with the lightbulb analogy, one of our moderators is a big incandescent guy :eusa_shhh:

LED all the way :icon_mrgreen:
I love both! I find the manual to be very engaging and fun but wouldn't want it as a DD, especially for a commute in heavy traffic.

Automatic (whether fully auto or paddle shift or shifting on the console) are proven faster, are safer for the engine (no possibility of "money shift"), and to some degree more relaxing without having to work three pedals.

Right now manual is fun on the track but I can see the day where I decide I want automatic.

I see a place for both in my garage....

AND....I'm an LED fan!
