sprite Report post Posted October 19, 2017 Is there any break in procedure on the Huracan or can I beat on it from day 1? My 18 spyder should be here any day.
diabloking Report post Posted October 19, 2017 Conventional wisdom says beat on it w/o proper break-in now and risk leaks later.
shardul Report post Posted October 19, 2017 Drive for a 500 to 700 miles and keep revs low, change oil and then you should be able to go full tilt without any detrimental consequences.
svoshop Report post Posted October 20, 2017 This thread will go pages and pages... I have always driven my cars the way I intend to drive them. I usually take it easy for one hundred miles. Just to allow everything to rotate etc... That does not mean I do not go to redline etc. I am aggressive, not abusive. I do feel it is very important to be up to proper temperature before getting aggressive. But I also follow that once the car is not so "new"... These cars were built to be driven and enjoyed. I do recommend an engine oil change sooner than the first year. I personally do it around 1000 miles... However, I do not feel it is necessary with modern engines. It just gives me a reason to have a beer in the garage with my toys. Congrats on the new bull!! I cant wait to see pics. CHADW Report post Posted October 20, 2017 It’s a German drivetrain, go have fun. Maybe it will smoke a little for the ninth owner at 100k miles, but it probably won’t.

Kenny94945 Report post Posted October 20, 2017 Some say engines are broken in at the factory. But, drivetrain, including brakes are not. FWIW I would certainly drive easy for 500 miles, varying rpms, changing gears, bedding brakes etc and do those oil changes. Personally, I would even pay attention to heat cycling. A 1000 mile break-in may not be out of the question either. Above FWIW assumes you will keep the car once warranty has expired. Else, as you desire, hammer it and IMO sell before warranty expires. Chances are you would not be the first to not go through a break in period. Please let us know your decision and if you uncover any issues with either decision. Good luck. topjay Report post Posted October 20, 2017 Manual stays low rpm first 1000miles and then gradually build it up until full rev range at 1500 miles. I always follow the manuals on cars as I keep my cars a few years but most people don’t and I’ve never heard of an issue

But, doesn't Balboni thrash every car before it is delivered? lol
topjay Report post Posted October 20, 2017 Agree with this. But, doesn't Balboni thrash every car before it is delivered? lol Every car does a test circuit of 20 something miles at the roads around the factory to make sure everything works and also they are driven hard to seal the piston rings apparently the high heat is required to do this. I asked Balboni in person what he thought the best way to run an engine in was on a new car he’s said test everything works such as brakes and be sure to get the engine warm and then you can use it as hard as you like. Personally I would put a few hundred miles on the brakes tyres and suspension before going crazy though even if the engine is fine
