  1. You can find them here http://www.camerafilters.com/ec/hallett98.htm
  2. It is a 1985 Countach 5000S. It is black with snowcorn (white) interior. A friend of mine (Joe Martz) owned it about 1997 and it was later on sold to a collector in PA. It was the Lamborghini of Chicago's poster car. I only mentioned Joe's name because he wrote this article about it: http://www.camerafilters.com/ec/lam_throttle.htm Anyhow, do any of you know whom owns this car now? Curious if Joe's fix is still good to go and if it still has the Nakamichi Car Amp in it.
  3. I know this is an old thread. Do any of you know what has become of this Carrera GT? Did it get rebuilt? Where is it these days?
  4. He is charging because he would like to get some of the money back that he put into paying for the event. Remember, it isn't free to get to have 2 different tracks over a couple of days. Further, the tracks charge you for parking. As for Cars and Coffee, they charge for that too.
  5. the 2019 Influencer Invasion in Austin, TX June 7-9? I am going and hoping to meet some other car enthusiasts. If you are in the area, I hope to see you there. 6. Thank you for the reply. Yes, I was without insurance for multiple reasons. One, I am in Mexico and it is extremely difficult to get renters insurance there unless you have either Temporary or Permanent Residency. I didn't have that. The Jewelry and watches are not a consideration on the campaign. More sentimental value than anything. I know that it is hard to get anything from anyone other than friends or family. That is why I was asking for the brainstorming. I didn't consider the checking for grants and other assistance. To be honest, I am quite scatterbrained right now.
  7. I am NOT asking for $. I am here for brainstorming about ways to get "the message out" to those that can possibly help my wife, mother-in-law and me. Our house was burglarized on Thanksgiving Day. There is a famous saying "everything but the kitchen sink" but in this case, they took the sink. The burglars literally took everything of monetary value - including the surveillance system. I have had to setup a GoFundMe to try to get enough $ together to get my wife and I back on our feet. The campaign is for <$3000; it is just enough for us to get the equipment we need to start working again. I lost all my PhD research so I have to start that again soon or just give up on it. I have attempted to use Facebook posts and direct messaging with friends/family asking for help. This has met with limited success. What other forms of social media or types of posts would you recommend we try to spread the word to those that are in a charitable mood? Would any of you be willing to look at the campaign with a critical eye to see if there is anything I should change or do that will help us reach our goal? I am NOT posting the campaign here. If you want to see the campaign, message me directly. I am trying to not break any forum rules but I need some help figuring out what to do. If this post is crossing the line, I am sorry and will delete it unless the mods do that for me first. No matter what, I want to wish to you all to have Happy Holidays. I am NOT asking for $ here. I need help brainstorming the best way "to get the message out" to those that might help my family. Our home was burglarized on Thanksgiving. We lost all of our computers, electronic devices, jewelry, my watch collection and a lot more. They even stole the security system. My cameras record directly to the Internet so at least we have some video of the jerks before they ripped the router out of the wall. This was not just a proverbial case of "everything but the kitchen sink" because they took that too. I really hope nobody else has to experience this in their lives. It is extremely hard to cope with mentally in addition to financially. As a student, I had limited funds to do things and cancelled my renter's insurance because I needed the funds to be used elsewhere. I learned the valuable lesson of never doing that again. Our GoFundMe has met with limited success. We need a total of under <$3k to get us back on our feet. That is what it will take for me to start my PhD research up again and get my wife back to work. We have messaged friends/family directly and posted on social media. What other ways do you recommend we get the message out? I will not be posting a link to my GoFundMe here. If you would like to view the campaign to help me fix anything that isn't properly done, needs to be changed or other suggestions, message me directly. That is the only way I will provide you the link. Again, I am not asking for $ from the people of this forum. I am asking for help figuring out how to make the campaign more successful so we can get back on our feet faster. If I am crossing any lines with this post, please tell me so I can either fix it or delete it. If the mods feel this should be deleted, I will understand and would like to know if you have suggestions for how I can do this without breaking forum rules, please let me know. No matter what, I hope you have a Merry Christmas. It will be a little difficult to do in our household but we are going to make a game of it. I am NOT asking for $. 8. This is my first visit since my Dad's passing. Thank you all for your kindness. It was quite hard for me to handle when it happened. Again, thank you.
  9. I just found out my Dad died. He has been in poor health; to the extent that he has been on borrowed time. I know it is best that he passed now so he didn't have to deal with all the health issues. It still sucks and I am feeling down still.
  10. I didn't leave at 2AM like I was planning - overslept and decided to delay the trip 24 hours. If you didn't already know, driving in Mexico is a lot harder to do than in the US for many reasons. People do not drive the same way as they do in the US; I was told that you should treat driving in Mexico like downhill skiing. You only care about what is in front of you. 2 lane roads mean 5 cars wide, it is rare that someone will let you in, etc. That is, that is the way it is around Mexico City and up to Monterrey.
  11. Add to that the Immigration check point and you get the idea then. It was a lot of fun; I had just gotten the car 2 weeks before and was thinking my Guardian Angel had a jet pack. It was about 7AM on a weekend so it was a lot of fun with no traffic, pretty much straight ways except for a couple of minor curves.
  12. Very nice car! Enjoy it in good health!
  13. How much is the admission fee to visit your car museum? Someday I hope to be able to see the house and car collection in person. I just have to get the "boss" AKA the wife to let me go to graduate school at Univ. of BC....
  14. Well, not all of that is going to be in Mexico but I will be driving 1000 miles tomorrow with most of it in Mexico. Cuernavaca, Morelos (about 1 hr s. of Mexico City) up to Laredo, TX and into San Antonio. Leaving at 2AM and HOPE to be at the Marriott in SA by 6pm. If you haven't driven in Mexico, you don't know how tough this drive is in comparison to the US. Add to that the fact I don't speak Spanish and you get the idea. Anyhow, this is a "I must be insane" thread. What is the most insane thing you have ever done in a car? Besides the drive tomorrow, I went from Las Cruces, NM to Alamogordo, NM in 22 minutes once in my 99 Viper GTS ACR. I have also done a lot of long drives but the ones in Mexico to the US are the hardest ones for me.
  15. Nice pair there! How often are you in PV? My wife and I are moving there in January from Cuernavaca.
