RoadKing Report post Posted March 28, 2016 So both my Japla and Countach are experiencing the dreaded "wing herpes"... Has anyone had any luck with successful repair? Anyone know who could fabricate these in carbon fiber? Searched the forum and have talked to George Evans and no good direction yet - any suggestions appreciated. Thanks! IanMan Report post Posted March 28, 2016 Just read a thread on this yesterday. Most people said they sanded it down and overlaid it with fiberglass. Whatever you do, don't use paint stripper. People say that if you do, it will eat away at the foam inside the wing and possibly make it worse off.

Bothe AviatorBobby and Petrolfumes did their wings. Lots of photos and explanations of the process. Both opened their wings, got rid of the polystyrene packed inside. If this link doesn't work, just go to the site and search for thread # 368554. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/lamborghi...-corrosion.html Mike
IanMan Report post Posted March 28, 2016 So removing the foam is better? Makes sense to reduce stored moisture, but someone in the other thread was saying that it could cause the aluminum of the wing to deform over time. We've removed the foam and no problem with the wing's form so far. The aluminum is very thin in a lot of places. The restoration shop I'm working with is estimating 100 hours to do the work (their first one and it is a bit of an experiment). At the cost to fix I was just checking to see if there's any other options.... Dave

Earlycat Report post Posted March 28, 2016 100 hours? That will be a really pricey wing. Ralph has an extra wing he has been trying to sell, over in the fchat classifieds section.

matthones Report post Posted March 29, 2016 Hello Yes it happened to me. I was told it is a natural occurrence with the aluminium used. I had mine repaired last year which involved stripping the paint off and cutting out the affected areas and had new panel sections refabricated. What surprised me most was the condition of the foam inside which suffered from the heat from the engine. Photos attached. Regards Matthew

LamboCARS Report post Posted April 14, 2016 I know this Dutch registered Countach showed a carbon fiber rear wing for a while ... today it is color coded to the car, but if you like I could ask the owner where he got this wing from. RoadKing Report post Posted June 5, 2016 Update - so I contacted the shop that lists the fiberglass wing on ebay, directcartoys.com, and went to see them in FL. Talked with the owner who is a big Lamborghini enthusiast and is working on several fiberglass parts for Lambos. The stock wing they had was much bigger than my '89 CT wing so I've sent him both my Jalpa and CT wings and he is making replica molds for each. I've decided to go with fiberglass replicas for everyday use and save the originals for resale. So far very pleased with the service and looking forward to the finished products. A few pictures of the progress on the Jalpa wing below:

RoadKing Report post Posted June 10, 2016 A little update and some other answers... Metal plates on inside of wing so mounting brackets have strong support. Vacuum infused wing with primer applied is $1900 and carbon fiber version is $2900. Also makes Gallardo, Murcielago, Aventador, and Diablo front lips. Wing, engine air intakes, and rear inner light panel for CT. They've been extremely busy but will be updating website soon. Will keep everyone posted as the wings are finished.
