Do you like new Software for SV after recall ?

We had our cars done for the recall here in Sydney and I had heaps of complaints about Sport Auto sw from other owners here....

I know some people never use Auto but basically it's become almost like strada shifting up so quickly that it's in 6 gear when u r doing 60 km/ h. MA e we are the guinea pigs here world wide to get user reaction.

Wouldn't have been better if the factory just left that module alone and updated the rest ? Why fix it if it ain't broke?

Your thoughts if you had it done in other cities..

The whole program sucks. Hate it. They cut down on the gurgling when downshifting too.

I now know of 4 SV owners in Australia who have experienced issues with this software. The car has lost its personality.

Here is my take on it....

Negatives

1. Car climbs up through gears much quicker in both Strada and Sport mode (car will be in 6th gear at a speed of 57kms).

2. Sport mode is not Sport mode anymore, its similar to Strada.

3. There are fewer exhaust crackles.

Positives

1. Clutch seems to grip more and feels tighter

If enough of us complain perhaps we can get the factory to do something.

Uh oh that's not good my car is in for it now, not that I really drive in auto except in heavy traffic, but doesn't sound good on the other stuff.

I agree that sport/auto mode shifts gears way to quickly. The benefit is the car will be at low rpm and when you let off the gas the exhaust makes its lovely noise.

Is this only happening in Sport/Auto?

The unusually quick climb up throgh the gears happens in both strada and sport mode when in Auto.

I actually think the car makes less noise, this is actually consistent with the purpose of the software which is aventador s software and is designed to make the car more economical and also purge fuel tank vapours more often. I get the feeling that less fuel is released when you accelerate and then suddenly release the accelearator in higher gears - hence fewer crackles.

I have a feeling that we were first to trial this recall sw but as soon as recall is done world wide it will be interesting what customers think. So far feedback is not encouraging

I tested driving mine behind an SV that didn't have update driving in same mode and the backfiring / noise was more In the SV that had old sw. So there is less noise...

Yours has race exhaust right?

How does it behave in Sport and Corsa manual shift? Any difference from before?

Yes.

Difference between race exhaust and standard is it's louder nothing else in manual.

Difference between now after recall sw and before is that now it has less crackles and pops backfire than before in all modes both manual and auto. More lame.

Does the software come with the recall or with the exhaust?

I can ask them not to update the SW if it comes with the exhaust.

On a separate note, raylambo you must be your dealer's favorite customer :icon_mrgreen:

Haha I must be.

The sw is the recall sw .

Once updated no going back as it is all in one file. Exhaust sw is separate.

But I have asked the factory to reinstall the previous sport module sw with the current sw as it sounds and performs better.

The more customers request that the more likely the factory will listen...

So they did that for you ?

Not yet.

But I know that there was a stuff up by somebody in IT at the factory as I was told 'there should be no reason for the difference in behaviour of vehicle" etc.

I'm speculating they copied the Av S sw. Problem is you can't customise SV as we have no 'ego' button like S.

So obviously, there was there was no testing of sw before release (at least for SV) hence mayhem with upset customers..

Good news is It is currently dealt with at the highest levels. I think they will fix it after they investigate it.

Let's hope soon.

I will check with my dealer when I will take mine in for the recall but I doubt they can split the software as in the old set up for sports and everything else new software.

They can not split out the modes in the software that is for sure. It is either do the recall and have the Aventador S software on your car or do nothing and keep the current software. In my opinion I do not think that anyone should do the recall until the factory create a version of the updated software that is specifically designed for the SV rather than giving us Aventador S software.

So I don't do the recall and risk for my car to catch fire just so I can have more crackles in Sport?

That makes a lot of sense, I think I will have the recall done and go with the latest software Lambo tech decided to install in the car.

We shouldn't have to choose old or new sw. The factory should correct the stuff up. We pay enough.

That can be easily included (programmed) in a new sw release that covers recall stuff and restores previous sw (code) for Sport. Not Einstein work.

A bit of proper testing and hopefully everyone is happy.

Its a risk ALL Aventador owners including myself have faced since 2011, now I am left with a castrated bull..... I would much rather have a bull with balls.

Furthermore, if the factory was really concerned about cars catching on fire why did they wait until the end of the series to do the recall??? It does not make any sense. The fact of the matter is that the cars that caught fire did so because they had aftermarket exhausts and the following conditions were met:

1. Hot ambient temperature

2. Full tank of petrol

3. Engine revving whilst stationary

Owners such as myself have known about this for years.... this is no big revelation....
