Something doesnt add up. This Countach is putting down more power than a Diablo 6.0 and 6.2L Murci lol which puts down around 435hp on a good day.

I would be surprised (if this car is stock) if it made more than 310 hp to the wheels

A good running QV F/I will make anywhere from 350 to 375ish rwhp... Sadly your car was not an example of good running. While this dyno above may be abit optimistic, he did convert to EFI and distributorless ignition. Having done that on my first Countach, I know first hand the difference was night and day.. I never dynoed mine, but I do remember that Dennis with his Motec QV dynoed something like 430rwhp. So it is possible for a CT to make as much power as a Diablo, but unfortunately once aerodynamics come into play the Diablo will still win.

whilst I'm aware there are a lot of "optimistic" dynos out there, and I will be doing another run or two next year in different venues to compare, Im pretty sure this was accurate to within 15hp.

It is important to note that early catalytic converters really strangled cars, even today a decat is the cheapest performance mod you can make for real hp gains. hence why the diablo (with a far superior efi setup to the countach anniversary) only managed 492bhp from 5.7 litres with cats, as against 455 from 5.2 for the Countach.

It would be interesting to do a back to back test on a stock diablo with its cats on and with them bypassed.

FYI this car uses coilpacks, 6 twin jenvey throttlebodies, non-stock fuel pumps, free flow airfilters and a sports exhaust.

I agree with Allan and countach5.7. My 88.5 QV/FI had also been "modernized" and has a racing cat plus custom exhaust (I kept all the OEM parts so it can be brought back to original if needed). While I did not dynoed mine either but the power increase was obvious and can definitely be felt. Of course, a "butt dyno" is nothing to be referenced on but jumping from the CT to my Diablo 6.0 immediately after, the two did not feel too different in terms of power. In fact, the heft of the 6.0 was very noticeable.

I drove my Diablo yesterday and QV today and there is no question that the Diablo is the faster more powerful car. The other main difference is how long the Diablo gears are. Your changing gears all the time in the Countach and in the diablo your speeding in first gear lol
