Aventador take off from stop

Just picked up my Aventador, and so far loving it. All my current exotics are dual clutch, 488GTB, Mclaren 650S etc.

One thing that is strange on the aventador is when I take off from the light it takes a second to respond. Like there is a delay in the computer grabbing the clutch. Its not instant like my Ferrari. The first 1-2 seconds is sluggish then the car just goes. Is that normal?

I believe it is adjustable but you will need the dealer's computer to do it. And obviously the quicker the take-up, the more clutch wear would result. But it won't ever match that of the DCT.

They do that, but it varies a little for some reason, you have to sort of feather the throttle a bit and then nail it if you want it more instant, only way to really nail it off the line is launch.

It's normal, it doesn't have the responsiveness of a DCT, your best solution is left foot brake, right foot accelerator.

I think it feels like more time than it actually is. But yes my experience with 2 aventadors is its normal. My F12 is instant.

Yes it just feels weird to me. When I take off from the light, pretty much any car can beat me off the line vs in Ferrari, its instant.

  • 10 months later...

Been looking through the threads & this one seemed to fit my bill.

I was out on the weekend and my pax said feels like the clutch is slipping when starting out is 1st gear. I said it's a ISR single clutch so it's not going to be like DCT off the mark. But it got me wondering, is mine too slow off the mark?? I've driven a LP740 and it's improved in this area a fare bit. I've not driven other LP-700's so I'm not sure if mine is totally normal or not.

My dealer did say bring it in if your concerned but he doesn't think it's out of the ordinary. Appreciate any long time LP-700 people could comment further on this or add some further commentary.

It’s an ongoing problem sluggish take off and shudder . It happens in 700 and SV. Some cars are smoother than others .Could be clutch , some loose part or sw or both ... I am not a mechanic. But it is annoying if you have to slam it on take off to overcome this problem. Take it to dealer and complain.

Thanx for that, I don't get the shudder but probably worth having the dealer examine because I've no other 700 to compare. The 740 was a whole lot crisper on the start out in 1st is my only comparison, but I know they tuned that aspect up for the 740.

Lamborghini probably did that on purpose to give other cars a slight head start before you demolish them.

haha, never though of it that way....
