Performante options/mods for track day use

Performante is a fantastic car. But a couple issues for a track day user after interviewing the owners:

- How to get racing seats and belts (and roll bar) for the car? You cannot fix belts with the stock buckets. Makes zero sense Lambo is not offering them compared to all Porsche GT cars where Clubsport package is a no-cost item. And, even though it does not suit the car's style I would be okay to install an aftermarket race seat, but the bigger problem is the airbag error with Recaro/Sparco etc., you cannot use a typical resistor to fix the error as the original seat has a weight sensor built in. How to solve this issue? No point lapping this type of car without proper belts.

- How to get enough camber for the Trofeo R's, I have heard you can get some more by installing shims for the lower control arms but not enough? What is your experience and solution for this? Otherwise, it's just half a day and your tires are destroyed.

- Where to get upgraded brake pads? I heard the brake pads are gone in a half a day if you are pushing. Does any company make race pads for these particular brakes, or could some of the proper brake pad companies provide us a ceramic brake friendly pad option if we send the original pads for measurements? Also, could someone have a look how much a set of original pads costs, don't have any clue if they are priced at 500 or 5000. The ceramic rotor cost....maybe I don't want to hear that but let me know :eusa_sick:

I'm okay a car that fast eats a lot of tires and brakes, but if I have to spend change tires and brakes twice a day it's too much. Is the car a one-lap hero or can you do track days with the car?

Thanks for any input or experience!

Lamborghini is offering a roll cage as an option, I am sure you can easily replace the seats with aftermarket or just use the race seats which come with the car, I can’t imagine them not being ok for track racing, I am no expert but I highly doubt you will have to replace pads after one track day.

Good luck and post some photos when you get your beast all set up.

Would you have an option code for the roll cage? Was not in the option list earlier.

About the seats, if you read through my original post I'm here "complaining" how the original "race buckets" are actually not OK for track, solely for the reason there are no appropriate holes for the race belts with those. The seats as such are OK but a car with such a high level of performance really needs proper belts if you are pushing it. Especially on a bumpy high speed track.

Additionally, taller Performante drivers are telling head hitting to roof with helmet on. Additionally, you suggest to easily replace the seat with aftermarket, as per my original post, the problem is the airbag error then that is not as easily fixable as in older cars, due to the weight sensor.

I will ask my dealer, he offered it to me last week, it wasn’t on the original options list, I was quite surprised because the order for my Performante is locked.

I think the Performante race seats are identical to the ones in my SV, I am pretty sure you can get the harnesses to fit through the holes above your shoulders, the seats are definitely supportive enough for the race track.

As for the airbags, I remember a while ago someone mentioned about some sort of module you can plug in to trick the system into thinking that the airbag is still attached, it might pay looking into that.

Also you can adjust the seats so taller people can fit better, adjustments have to be made to the brackets.

I had a similar issue with the airbag for my ZO6 track car.

I put in after-market race seats / harnesses, etc and I wanted both seats to have equal restraint. We ended up removing the OEM airbag "bladder" sensor from the seats and installing them in the race seats. We needed a dealer to re-set the airbag light after we were done. IIRC (for whatever reason) the resistor plug worked in the driver's seat but it didn't work on the passenger seat.

Removing the air bag sensor wasn't too difficult but obviously you don't want to damage it if you plan to put your car back to stock.

This wouldn't be necessary if it's a track only car and trailered back and forth. I drive the car to/from the track and also use it for errands/trips and I want the air bags working for non-track use.

Don't forget if you are using 5 or 6 point harnesses you'll need an anti-sub bar installed under the seat. This can get tricky with clearances. Maybe there's a shop with Huracan experience that can advise on the best anti-sub bar.

For the ZO6 I didn't want to drill the floor for anti-sub bar mount (the floor in the C6 is balsa core sandwich and would have required a lot of heavy backing plates to safely mount an anti-sub bar). I ended up ordering TeamTech "Jet Pilot" harnesses. They have all the approvals of other types of harnesses and are quite comfortable, and safe. Just a bit different to get used to.

It would take some research to find out if Team Tech could be properly fitted to a Huracan but I assume they could help direct you to sources for the required hardware. I used a product called a "Hardbar" that was made for the purpose specifically for the C6 but maybe there is an equivalent for Huracan.

Best of luck!

This is becoming ridiculous. The Performante is the first Lambo to win the track tests and to post the lap records and to get all sorts of rave in the media and by all who have test driven it, but the owners themselves cannot really use the car on the track because lack of racing seats with racing harness, and cannot adjust camber either for the Trofeo Rs?

Here's another owner with similar issue, the forum won't let me insert the link but it's the other Lambo forum, http://www.another board/vbforum/f2...e-setup-192778/

Don't get my criticism wrong, I love the car and its handling but really feels they have actually made the car for poseurs and not for drivers.

You can definitely adjust camber on the huracan positive or negative with shims. A bit more complicated but i did it on my car.

I consistently have replace my carbon ceramic brake pads after one track day in my GTR. About to switch back to steel rotors since my track day expenses for front pads alone are $900. I always attributed the pad wear to not enough cooling (CCBs seem to be hotter), and the weight of the GTR. Maybe it is more of an issue with cooling if the Perf also goes through pads quickly.

Porsche leaves out the mounting points in the chassis for the factory roll cage in the US so you don’t even think about installing theirs.

With respect to seats, the difficult sensor to make happy is usually the occupancy sensor which is found only in the passenger seat in most cars.

Bottom line, the mothership is not cool with putting these cars on the track.

:iamwithstupid:

And because they also want to sell you another car --- one that's dedicated for track use only which both Lamborghini and Porsche offer.

I was told that if I was going to track my HP that I should immediately switch out to steel rotors. A replacement set of ceramic rotors is 14K. That’s what a reputable Motorsport shop told me.k

You can buy the steel rotors from Girodisc I believe for the Huracan. I personally wouldn't stress about the rotors unless I was tracking often. If its once in a while, they will last for a long time of track and road use. With that said I have a rear set of used CCB Huracan rotors I can sell you cheap ($2500 for the pair) and then you would just need to find a set of cheap front CCB rotors.

If someone really wants a solution for NEW cheap CCB front rotors, I can make them a set custom using Corvette ZR-1 front CCB rotor rings with custom center hats. I'd have to get an order for 2 front sets to make it worth my while but I could do them custom NEW for $5000 for a front pair to bolt on a Huracan. That would include my engineering and time to test fit them on my own huracan before I send them out to you. New Lamborghini CCB is probably around $14K. This option would be $7500 for essentially the exact same thing, something to think about.

 • 3 weeks later...

does anyone know the OEM part # for the harness bar? I have two perf. clients that want to add harnesses and VF cant confirm fitment... Is any one else aware of a mounting solution where you don't need to butcher the interior?
