Anthony Bourdain Won't Be Cooking Dinner Tonight...
kinnsella replied to Supercar Ace's topic in Off Topic
Well when your dad blows his head off, we'll see how you deal with it. My friend and his mum are wonderful people, two of the most interesting and empathic people I know. They carry the scars and have made the most of it. Their experience has provided enlightenment to me (and many others). Humans aren't most species, and I can tell you first hand when your kid walks out the door at 18, it's not over. It's never over. Kids aren't a mortgage....when you pay it off your done. -

You've made several oblique comments in this thread. Seems like you have more insight to share. Which I wish you would. That or you don't like my politics.... -

We have experienced the full gamut of parents. It's depressing seeing so much potential wasted. Having a child doesn't mean you are a parent. I liked Bourdain a lot, he had a unique voice probably because of all his luggage. Shame he couldn't keep the ball rolling. -

I did. I was 39 before I made the decision. Almost everybody I consider to be a close friend didn’t have kids until they were in mid 30’s or later. And a number chose not too. Not thinking about kids. How could that go wrong? -

That's all you have to add. Unprovoked ad hominem attacks, good job! Reminds me of somebody else.................. You must be right, there can't be divergent opinions. Everybody must be in lockstep. Only having first-hand experience of seeing what my friend and his mum have gone through losing his dad and her husband. Who's the victim, the one the killed themselves or those left in the wake?? And to be really cold-blooded about it, Mum should have known better too, admittedly she was 22, but she knew her husband was unstable. Have at it. -

When you sign on to have kids, it's a lifetime commitment, it's something greater than yourself. Bailing on your daughter because your hot batshit crazy girlfriend left you...please. He should have known better and never put a kid on his train in life. If you are that unstable, why do think you are qualified to be a parent in the first place and this is my point. If you are a person that has these demons, you have 2 options, white-knuckle it through your self centered life or better yet don't have kids. BTW that goes for half the fcuking population who are going through the motions of being "parents" while not actually doing any parenting. Exhibit A Millenials. Parents who wanted to be friends, wouldn't let their kids get a paper cut and stuck them in front of a screen to do their parenting or shut them up. -

Good points. My point is if you are that much of a mess, have some self-awareness and don't bring in kids. -
Next level. Congrats.

A clown car? If you are that insecure, you should be buying a high mileage Bugatti without a service history.

Ugly colour combo. Driver is useless and an idiot for allowing that to be posted.

Ferrari has pulled the same stunt. I believe they gave management a F40 years ago.

I don't get it. It would be slower, heavier and handle worse. V8 TT has a lot more torque.

Stunning and such a great colour. -
Never understood why people do it. If you want scissor doors, get a V12.

My best friend's Dad committed suicide when he was 7. Trust me, he thinks it was a selfish act that has had a profound effect on him and his mother even to this day almost 50 years later. She never remarried and had to raise a son on her own. You raise a good point, but that said I don't how you cannot know the permanent damage you're doing to loved ones, especially children. -

Per CNN on the disappointing Bourdain news. Apparently, hundreds of thousands try and commit suicide in the US annually and only 45,000 are successful. Either suicide is harder than I thought, or it seems more like a cry for help which needs to be addressed in our culture/health care system. -

Suicide is a very selfish act when you have children, regardless of your personal demons. Shame I enjoyed the show and his POV. -
They mess with that too.

Ferrari reviews are meaningless. Customers cars very different.

Cut price Urus the Q8.

I'll raise you an 88 Ford Festiva (80's KIA), didn't have many lonely nights. Moscow silver, though it did have a red racing stripe, passenger side delete mirror, 4 spd manual, am radio, no tape deck, 12-inch rims and 58 hp. My dream car at that time was a Civic SI or a used Mark 2 Golf GTI 16V. 04-05 Gallardo's aren't nearly as nice as 06 and above. Lamborghini made some significant improvements in drivability, HP and QC. 05 doors are tinny and have no weight.

I doubt you are "investing" in your supra. Assuming it's the last gen, cool car. Focus on your business.
