  1. I'm waiting for it on HBO or similar channel. I like Queens music, but I don't like gayness in movies unless its hot lesbians.
  2. I've been to Cuba. Canada doesn't have an embargo. It was easy to meet Women there. But it was sad buying them a meal. They'd take a small bite and then wrap up the rest to share with their families. After going, I hated socialism/communism even more. Hoping Venezuela can be rescued.
  3. I live in an agriculture area. Mostly strawberries, blue berries, and corn is big. Our local university tried growing avocado's and Kiwi fruit. What ended up working was tomatoes and even certain peppers. So the last ten years green houses have been popping up all over the place. So can see one day, they'll be successful in all fruits and veggies via the green houses..... If they don't kill their labor force first. info here: https://globalnews.ca/news/3908127/delta-fa...fety-protocols/
  4. Not for a home theater but home stereo I'm thinking of picking this up: https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/bnc/ele/d/v...6378944866.html had an updated version in 1988. My now x-girlfriend was using it to record songs onto CD's for the YMCA outdated sound system........ She taught a few workout classes there. Great sound from that stereo!
  5. The real problem is law enforcement has lowered the bar on their hires. They've also lowered the training standards as well. Criminals have also lowered the bar on going to jail or not. Net, police need to be dirt bags or they'll get easily killed on the streets.
  6. I'm more into wealth management VS trying to double or triple my "investment". I mostly do what's called Guaranteed Investment Certificates. The principal is guaranteed from losses. Sure its a lousy return and even capped at $100k per certificate. Its enough too cover my house expenses and that's what I care about now. I'll venture in mining stocks. But I'm an insider on those. Too early to promote now. I buy too sell and not as an "investor". The real wealth in stocks is being on the back end of the deal. Like Warren Buffet or even say Mark Cuban! Tech is basically dead as a wealth building tool.
  7. The part I have a problem with is its very hard to get wealth out. Sure a few high ticket items can be bought, etc. But too get the mcmillions out it becomes very complex......... My bank deposits are 100% insured by the government. Its easy to get large money orders via cashier checks or transfer wealth around the globe. As my bank is global as an entity. They have atms and branches in England and also Hong Kong. This beats bitcoin all day long..................
  8. Merica is too complex to say this and that led too this now...... I like Canada and our tax system. Over tax me I'll move to the UK and pay zero income taxes......... Its that simple. info here from our government: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/ser...a.html#txblgtns
  9. I'm not a fan of tats...... Losers and non officers in the military get them! Most police in Canada have non visible tats policy. So in general especially The RCMP don't look like uneducated gang members with tats all over.
  10. The problem with dealer plates is most jurisdictions have laws surrounding their usage. If caught doing it for personnel use, stiff penalties can be applied. In greedy California. They have penalties including tax evasion and avoiding their smog test, etc.........
  11. Nothing backs bitcoin. The second people have trouble cashing in their bitcoins. The market will stampede for the exit. Again they tried the same in Holland in the 1800's. Those "invested" in bitcoin should look at Greece without a bailout! The debt in the US is tremendous. Cities going bankrupt, etc. Now you want to try lower taxes, etc...... JFK did the same and that got carried forward in the 1970's energy crisis. US again is on the same course with no "assets" to prevent the crash!
  12. Oh markets have never crashed in Merica........
  13. I'm in near 100% cash again. Mostly US dollars. I see the writing on the wall. All markets are going to crash within the next year. I don't "invest"...... I buy too sell. I laugh at geeks working on "apps" great way too go broke. Bitcoin is fantasy and we'll see more "fortunes" lost then made!
  14. Canada has a 15 year exemption deal. As in vehicles 15 years or older don't have to comply with our rules and regulations on safety and emissions, etc...... Net people have been importing from Asia and Dubai, etc. For a long while. 99% of these are crap boxes!
  15. Oh for hotels, not much difference between a Marriot residence inn suite and say the Beverly Hills Hilton. I like the Beverly Hills Residence Inn by Marriot.. Recently remodeled, you get a decent suite for around what a room in say Hollywood costs at the Best Western..... Again nice valet parking. Decent bar, etc. Not busy traffic wise. And not a lot of people think Beverly Hills as being not expensive........ I like taking kids there. Its Beverly Hills safety factor. With decent food walking distance. Since its not busy most times of the year. On sites like priceline its the best price in Bevery Hills and West Hollywood, etc..... Its a "boutique" hotel experience..... http://www.beverlyhillsresidenceinn.com/?g...ASAAEgJl2fD_BwE At night its much safer for the wife and kids too walk up Beverly Drive at night too get a lousy California Pizza Kitchen snack VS West Hollywood after dark.
  16. As far as car spotting goes. The best spot is the Mel's diner or whatever on Sunset. They have valet parking, so its easy to park there. The food is good for a "family" type dinning chain. They have patio seating that is often empty most nights. So its easy to get a patio seat for car spotting. Its burger and fries mostly, but they make a decent burger. And have good deli style sandwiches like a Club House, etc..... For non "fancy" dining and atmosphere it can't be beat deal wise.
  17. Vancouver since the 1980's has a very cool concert series on during our version of a county fair. The PNE..... They have free concerts during the fair season. Seating a first come basis. The Bare Naked Ladies, surprisingly very entertaining show. Saw REO last summer there. Some of the popular Canadian bands of the 1970's also perform there. Doucette, BTO, etc. The concerts come with the price of admission, so not really "free". But with the other fair attractions. Its a fun thing to do. Saw Midnight Oil there as well.
  18. I only know what the US does. In the US the state the violation occurred in will create a driver license number in your name. They'll suspend that license. So when you are pulled over in the US. The police will see you have an "American" license in suspension. Depending on the state and if they belong to the interstate traffic block. You could be charged with driving while suspended. A misdemeanor charge and usually requires a criminal court appearance to clear up. You could also be arrested and taken too jail. I know when Canadians are suspended in the USA. The border hauls you in and calls in the local county Sheriff. They'll ticket you. You wont be able to drive your car. Including back too Canada. So here in North America. They tend to go the toss the book at you for not paying fines route......... New York and Ontario have an agreement to suspend Ontario drivers in Ontario for not paying tickets in New York. So you might want to check with your home licensing department. To see if they have similar deals over the pond.
  19. I'm not a fan of bitcoin........ No real rules and regulations. Not backed by fixed "assets" or faith and credit of a nation. In 1873 the world experienced a financial crisis. The gold rush out west. Caused a panic as most states still had their own money and it was backed by silver. So it caused a mass amount of people trying to exchange their silver backed money for gold. In Europe. France and Britain in war with the Russian Empire, Crimean War. So there too had people running too the banks for gold. It caused some countries citizens to create there own bitcoin type currency. In Holland it was the Tulip bulb. I'm condensing too save typing. A good read is Tulip mania and the delusions of crowds............ That will sum up my opinion on pet rocks and bitcoins!
  20. Ask your branch manager or account manager for wire instructions for your account. Some not all banks, have trust accounts that the money goes too and then into your account. Its an added layer if you tell your bank and you get the instructions from them on receiving wires. Old school before computers dominated. You could write a check on a napkin if it was local....
  21. HAha. My main point building now is the best option, especially here. Like this just over a million: http://www.rew.ca/properties/R2038046/273-52a-street-delta That's what a million gets you near Vancouver. You could buy vacant land for under $500k. Maybe not a big house, but you could build a very nice new house under what they want for that tear down! A nice house just under a mansion, like the links in my last post. Same area you can buy 80 acres of vacant land for $1.8 million. You could build any of them well under their listing price.
  22. I did think of a corolla or Chevy whatever they are called. Or a Camry. Non seem fun. I tend to stay around 120km/h to 140km/h on the freeway. So needs to be good at those speeds. To me, two kinds of cars. A more collectible, want to keep near showroom new. Drive, yes. But careful the places it goes. I don't want scratches or dings. The other it could go anywhere. Not really cheap, just don't really want to buy new and use it until its worthless. My truck is almost a year old now. Main reason I bought, I drive in the mountains. Breaking up a property into building lots. I've taken potential buyers on a tour, means light off road. Last I have a boat. But using it off road and like a truck, I've put some big scratches on it. Its driving me crazy! Ok its worth it for the new entertainment system, but still, kind of a shame. The other I bought my Cayenne new. 190k kilometers on it now. I'm glad I bought it. Just wish it was still near new in shape.
  23. The two house build threads. Gave me an idea. I watch a few areas real estate wise. The area I grew up in is one (Tsawwassen BC), over the last year house prices there have really jumped up. You now can't find a house in my old neighborhood for under $1million. Even small cottages near the beach on postage stamp lots are $1million. Nicer larger executive style homes start at $2million. For what you get at these price points. You are better off building. The bigger the budget the more building makes sense. After the build threads, I'm sure some are thinking the same I want to build. If like me, have no idea what I want. I need visuals! So instead of a favorite mansions thread. How about houses you like? They can be mansions or just a very nice house. Give people an idea of a place they can build or even find similar where they live. https://www.realtor.ca/Residential/Single-F...Columbia-V8M1T9 I like the above. But I hate the location. https://www.realtor.ca/Residential/Single-F...Columbia-V2Z0A2 neighbors too close https://www.realtor.ca/Residential/Single-F...Columbia-V2Z3A6 The above is over priced for the area. https://www.realtor.ca/Residential/Single-F...Columbia-V4B3S6 nice house. great views. but no property! https://www.realtor.ca/Residential/Single-F...Columbia-V4B1A3 All the above could be improved and built for less money
  24. I'm somewhat looking for an emotional connection. Also started because I know others are the same. Not necessarily a cheap priced car. Just something you are more willing to park anywhere. Its still fun to drive. I know from living in Toronto. Many people there have winter cars. Like my friends son worked at Gentry Lane. They have an underground garage beneath their building. They have many customer cars there over winter; Lotus, Lamborghinis and Ferraris. These same customers wanted year or two old BMW's and Mercedes. The surprising most popular was a late 70's to early 80's Mercedes 300D. Being a teenager in the 80's and young adult in the 90's. I tend to want cars from those eras.
