  1. Anyone know what this is for? It was sitting in the center console when I got the car.
  2. It's an argument to go on until the end of time... Very hard to prove what's really better with so many variables.
  3. If you want an automatic, this guy here in Houston is selling a nice one and if very open to offers if he hasn't sold it yet: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lamborghini-Murcie...em=262186018260
  4. How did Mobil 1 change your car? Do you have manual or egear?
  5. I don't want to do a big rip and replace of the sound system, but I would like to get bluetooth streaming going. I have the Harmon Kardon Becker system. Has anyone tried this adapter? It looks like it will work even though they don't call out the Lambo model: http://www.discountcarstereo.com/BLU-BKR.html
  6. Well, good news for me. It turns out the McLaren dealer had changed the battery when they had it, and they needed the code themselves. The rep said they had to pull the radio to get the serial number and then go through Lambo to get it. So it's good news for me they kept the number on file, and my radio is working again. I will make sure to leave the number in the car because you'd have to be a stupider than normal criminal to try and steal this head unit.
  7. I've seen plenty of Diablos listed for more than prestine Aventadors, so i don't see manual Murci's going lower either. I was happy to get a good one when I did. There aren't too many for sale that don't have stories.
  8. They don't check anything around here. But the stickers do come off in one piece because they are metal-like. So if you have stupid laws in your neck of the woods, you can always tack them back on with scotch tape and remove them right after the inspection.
  9. The stickers in my engine bay were looking pretty crap. They were bubbling and the adhesive was seeping around the edges. I was planning on replacing them somehow, but then I thought that even when the stickers are perfect, they detract from the carbon fiber. Do most people remove them? Once I removed them with 3M adhesive remover, I used a power tool to polish out any imperfections, and gave them a coat of wax. It looks much better IMO. And I also used a Dremel with small brushes to clean off 12 years of crud from the throttle bodies. Now I am not ashamed to show my engine bay.
  10. On brakes, you go to the end of the line (the bleeder screws on each caliper) and flush fluid through the whole system. In your DIY, you are flushing fluid out of the middle of the line (the bleed screw in the trunk). I am trying to figure out how does the fluid trapped inside the shocks get replaced with your method since you are not bleeding at the shock? Does the shock have a bleed screw?
  11. I know this is an old thread, but I am wondering how replacing the fluid in the reservoir to flush out the system of old fluid would help the shocks? The reason I ask is that the shocks only have one line going to them, so that means there is no circulation of the fluid through the shock. Replacing the fluid helps the rest of the system, but the fluid in the shock stays stagnant unless you unscrew the line and drain the shocks. I am missing something here? I am also not sure how air gets bled out since there is no circulation.
  12. Thanks for the replies. I'll start with Lambo USA because it would be nice if they had some other records on the car that I can add to the files.
  13. So I had the power shut off for the battery for hours while I worked on changing the exhaust and maintenance items, and now the radio wants a code. My car was sold through a McLaren dealer that bought the lot from a widow of the man that had 15 exotics, and they didn't get every last detail, including the radio code from the widow. I only found 1 or 2 posts about this topic from years ago. Is it only a Lambo dealer that can get the radio code? Do they need the car to do it, or is it on file? If they need the car, does that mean an independent with the official computer can do it? Any other workarounds? Thanks in advance!
  14. Any update on this issue? Any more with 2WD conversions have this issue on 1st gen Merci's? I don't dog my cars, anymore. I'm over that. Occasionally drive spirited, but in general, I like working on my cars and doing the sunny day cruising thing. So would this blow my sun gear with 2WD? I would like to switch to 2WD to save the front wheel drive parts from wearing, lower the weight of the car, and make slow speed cornering feel lighter.
  15. Did you ever find the decals? They are a heafty metal-like type, but mine are also looking shabby. At this point it would be better to remove mine and buff out the carbon fiber than to leave them on.
  16. You're welcome. I just ordered some more to put in my Lotus Esprit this weekend. Red Line made the Esprit shift better, so I am expecting even better shifting with this Magic Ford Stuff.
  17. So I've been having the common cold shifting issues since I got the Murci a month ago, and I have been trying different fluids to see what works best. I think it's safe to say the fluid that I first drained from the box was factory original given how dark it looked (car has 10K miles). I tried Red Line MT90 first, and it definitely made shifting better, but it's not known to be a good cold fluid, so while it helped cold shifting, it didn't help that much. Next I tried the Motul 300V, and it was just as bad as the factory fill if not worse. Never again. After a lot of Googles, I found people raving about a Ford fluid for fixing cold shift issues just like mine: XT-M5-QS Full Synthetic Manual Transmission Fluid I put it in, and immediately from driving away from my house, the shifting issues disappeared! The gearbox is now great cold and warm now with no issues getting into second or third when cold. The nice part is that it meets the specs for our gearbox of 75W-90 and GL-4. Many say not to use GL-5, and a lot of the fluids are GL-4/5, so it makes me feel more comfortable that this is not a GL-5 spec. Has anyone else tried it? I have to agree with some of the other forum posters that it's the equivalent of Unicorn sperm for transmissions. The reviews on Amazon are typical of what people say about this fluid: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000NUES82/ref=as...ASIN=B000NUES82 Motorcraft® Full Synthetic Manual Transmission Fluid Usage Particularly recommended for MTX-75 and IB5 transmissions Also recommended for older transmissions, including rear-wheel-drive transmissions that recommend GL-3 and GL-4 type gear oils Features Premium-quality gear oil recommended by Ford Motor Company An SAE 75W-90 gear oil manufacturedwith synthetic base oils and performance additives, which can provide improved gear shifting at all ambient temperatures Wear protection extends the life of synchronizers and bearings Meets Ford Motor Company fill-for-life requirements with its excellent thermal, oxidative and shear stability Offers reduced friction and optimal lubrication Meets warranty requirements Available in cases of 12 one-quart bottles __________________ 2004 Murcielago, 6 spd
  18. Jon, I want to let you know I am completely with you. I do not trust any mechanics to do a better job than than I would do on my car because they'll never care as much about my cars. And the other side of the coin is that I happen to enjoy working on the cars as much as I do driving them. Not many DIYer's with Murci's from what I can see, so we need to stick together. I'm glad you found someone to come out to your house even though you were ruling that out in your original post. Hopefully you can find an independent with the same computer that will let you work with them when you need that computer. Every time I think of going to a dealer for service, I throw up a little bit in my mouth! Look forward to seeing your writeup on the home clutch change! I would definitely like to do my own when the time comes, and fortunately, I don't have the extra egear stuff that takes special, expensive tools.
  19. Do you think a thicker clear bra material, or doubling it up would help?
  20. What do you mean re-wrapped? Wrapped with a clear bra or a car wrap? If you don't have clear bra, that's what I would use to protect the area so I didn't have an unsightly mud flap.
  21. Tow truck? Depending how far you is the nearest shop that offers the service to your house, that may be a $100 or so solution. I had a friend turn his own Esprit into a "barn find" over the last 5 years in his garage flat bed his car to my house It left a few weeks later on it's own power. I wasn't going to do all that work in his ill-equipped garage. He's only abut 7 miles away, and since it's not a roadside emergency, he was able to shop the rate and only paid like $80. If you did everything right, it will only be a 1-way tow.
