  1. Bobby Kahn....he went missing very quickly. As did his dealership.
  2. Posted under the other thread on this...it looks like Kelly's Murcie from Apple Music. It's parked near his music store, 1/2 mile away, but close enough in my book, and I'm pretty sure he still owns it. Only other orange Murcie in Portland with front plates on it was Adams and he sold it a long time ago.
  3. I believe that's Kelly's car...Was going to say Adams but I know he sold his orange one a long time ago...pretty sure Kelly still has his and this would be where his music store is as well. I'd kill the kid myself. Asshole.
  4. More money than brains. All too common in the car world. Ugh.
  5. There are 2 pages of 599's for sale in DuPont, in addition to GTO's and a 599 race car...all would be better investments than tossing 600k at a six speed 07. They aren't THAT rare.
  6. Has to be a typo or someone was a complete idiot...regardless of the six speed status, there are well over a dozen on the market, both newer and just as clean for under 175k. I understand auction hype, but that's just plain stupid and throwing money away, and not like 30k in the trash, more like 400k. Ridiculous.
  7. Don't know how accurate it is, but just read that there was an attack on the air base today but they were not able to get in...they were able to take over the town of al-Baghdadi, which is about 50 miles from the base. Article was posted today at 2:23 est. Time to man up Pres...time to put an end to this shit and wipe em out.
  8. I've driven the car quite a bit...we bought it from Limey when I worked at Premier...the car is strong, pulls hard and drives straight. It had a few quirks that hopefully got sorted. I think I read that the exhaust was redone which it needed to be adjusted. The mirror switch was wired in reverse, so up was down, left was right, etc...easy fix just required taking some time to do it. Most noticeable for me was the alignment of the door, it was off and caused the interior dome light to stay on for a bit and the alarm not engage when leaving the car...I think someone mentioned it was realigned and wasn't perfect, but better. The green piping faded to a more lemon lime color, which looks a touch off IMO. Nothing major wrong with the car, just some quirky things I think Chad has sorted. I do think 175k is too much for the car, but I know what we paid for it from Limey so I have an unfair insight on that. I admit the 6.0 market is stronger now than then, but still, 175k is a premium for a car that needs a little sorting to be truly perfect. All in all though, the car is super strong and presents very well. Whoever buys will be happy with the purchase. GLWS.
  9. On the Canadian import part, the MY 2000 Diablo was on the do not import list. I don't know if it still is, but it was for some time and may very well be, along with the older model Diablos due to seat belt restraint bolts and front driving lights, etc. Race car importing, it used to be that the car could be here as a race car, however it could only stay for a period of 6 months, then the car had to leave the country again. that's the way it used to be, pretty sure it hasn't been changed much.
  10. I'll add to this one only because I'm VERY familiar with the paperwork load that comes with these cars, including Roy's and Tonkin's yellow one. It's almost funny to some extent that people throw around "Show and Display" like it's some easy thing to get. Fill out some papers, pay some money, and boom, it gets issued to you. Umm yeah, not true. I know for a fact Tonkin's yellow car sat in Canada waiting to be brought in, specifically for his collection mind you, and it sat in customs for YEARS...not months, YEARS before an agreement could be made between Ron and DOT. That agreement pretty much stated that Ron would never sell the vehicle to anyone, under any circumstances, for any reason, on US soil. It went further to state that even under the show and display guise, if the car were to be sold to an owner in the US, it would be seized and crushed. Not seized and sold on your behalf out of the country...seized and CRUSHED. I've held this document in my hands and read it years ago when I was calling Tonkin weekly to try and buy his yellow car for Roy....in fact at one point, we actually had a deal put together which got voided as quickly as it was agreed to, once this agreement was pulled from the file. The mountain of paperwork and virtual acrobatics you have to go through to possess one of these cars is amazing. Most people won't spend the time or the money just for the sake of ownership. Add to that the mechanical aspects that need addressing and it could be a quick way to lose 400k plus. Benny's old yellow one that went to Switzerland was also here on show and display...the people that have these cars in their possession are legitimate collectors, all of whom climbed the mountain of paperwork to add it to their collection.
  11. Several states already use license plate scanning technology for law enforcement...the software scans plates (especially front ones) in multiple directions in a millisecond, then checks the database against stolens and wanted persons, and gives the officer feedback within seconds of scanning...to top it off, it's on all the time, so it's not a manual scan or manual input system, does this while driving...the technology is already pretty much in place, it wouldn't take much to link all of this data or even tweak it to be a tracking system of some sort. Arizona has been testing this and using it for years.
  12. This is horrible news. Ray was a really cool guy, spent many hours with him at several events just chatting cars and life...what a cool guy, really sad to hear this. Man...loss for words. RIP Ray.
  13. You don't need ramps to go over wheel wells if you have the place selling the trailer modify or custom build the width between the wheel wells to fit your needs. As stated, most are about 81-82" between the wheel wells...you need at least 84" if I remember correctly, and that's if you're good at loading and being 1/4" of space between vents doesn't bother you...if so, go wider. Mine was 86" I think, and Murcies/Aventadors fit between the wheel wells with about 1" of space. The advantage of a ramp over the wheel wells is there is nothing to catch the nose on if you're off center slightly and don't have to worry about the air intakes. Your rear door is just as important...that needs to be wide enough too. 102" is what I would recommend. Disadvantage to ramps over the wheel wells...changes your load angle quite a bit and also raised your center of gravity, which means if she starts to sway, you're gonna know it. Your Mercedes isn't gonna be rated to pull it and you won't want to pull a 4k lbs car in a trailer with a short wheel base vehicle like that...you might, but you won't have fun doing it. Aside from the obvious safety issues, your hands will cramp from gripping the steering wheel so tightly at every curve and bump in the road. Get something with some stability under it and the ability to pull a hill under a load. Nothing more frustrating than climbing a little hill loaded, hammer to the floor, and getting passed by a semi that's going 35 like you were stopped. Good times.
  14. The Millennium Edition cars were not from the factor, they were built by dealers, usually LOC in California, same with the MOMO Edition cars.
  15. As harsh as that looks, being a former repo guy and dragging just about every make and model of car down the street, up a flat bed, etc...this method is very safe and aside from having some sort of tethering to stabilize that car while "swinging", does the least amount of damage. Really no different than having your car on a lift...don't agree with "dropping" the car as this driver did, but still, picking it up that way I guarantee did the least amount of damage possible. Think about if it were a flat bed truck where they strapped hooks to the A-arms and used a winch to drag it up on the deck...no big deal if they used skids (neoprene slabs that slide up under the tires while dragging it)...seems ok so far right? Ever seen a flat bed driver get a car that is locked, AWD, and has the parking brake set get the car off the deck? That'll make you sick...only two ways...another truck with a winch or shake that baby off by "rocking" the bed back and forth while up and shaking the car off....pulling the truck forward...and repeat...until it's finally on the ground. Sucks to see happen, but like I said, probably the best way to make something like this happen.
  16. I did collections for years, and repossessions. Have many friends still in the biz. Fire away with the questions. Happy to assist.
  17. Ron Tonkin passed away today, just months before the grand opening of the new location of Ron Tonkin Gran Tourismo at the former GPI building in Wilsonville, OR. Love em or hate em, he had a true passion for cars and an amazing collection, including his Diablo GT in yellow. RIP Ron. http://www.oregonlive.com/business/index.s...e_ron_tonk.html
  18. I know someone who has a red anniversary CT with delivery miles sitting in his garage, well pampered, he bought it new for this reason...pretty cool.
  19. No compressor...tool kit with fuses, etc in bag usually up front in the hidden compartment. Murcie's came with the air can and factory 02/03 wheels had an adapter in order to put air in the tires. Later models usually came with the Hercules wheels and Heremeras came as an option on the Lp640's. The electric compressor came with the newer cars, 06 and newer I believe, which replaced the air canister.
  20. Until Aventador pricing drops, you won't see much movement in the lp's or the early Murcies. There haven't been many, and by that I mean less than 5 or so, that have sold in the last 6 months for less than 190k, and that's on a coupe...removing of course salvage title or story cars from the list of sales. The cars dipped down into the 180k range back in 2010 ish, with the speculation that the Aventador would be priced more reasonably...then 3 years without a v12 car being produced, add to that no manual transmissions ever again on the V12 cars, and you've got the last gen murcie's holding their value, even with miles. Any franchise dealer is going to low ball you anyways, that's the foundation of their business...so it's difficult to use a dealer offer as a basis for what the cars are worth...the average person doesn't have several gallardos and one or two 500k current model year cars sitting on their floor that they're trying to sell...plus many franchise dealers don't like keeping anything 5 years old or older in inventory, and the factory pushes this thought process. So, in order for them to "chance it" they are going to low ball you. Having said that, you can expect to pay 190k or so on a coupe that has an asking price of 200k and about 215k on a roadster with 10k miles on it. Afterall, for the price of a used Aventador, you can get an lp640 and a 560g.
  21. PM sent...thanks for the shout out Jason! Hope all is well for you too! Happy Holidays!
  22. Doubt the car was grey previously...that's a blue caleum interior color combo. Couple things...it's an early production 04, so look at service records for when new clutch was installed, write up says snap shows clutch at 65%, might want to know when that snap was done. Options listed appear incorrect...says power and heated seats...does not have that. Brake calipers weren't red when new, not on a blue car so that options is questionable. Literally a no option car. Having been in two accidents and a complete repaint...the car is priced about 30k too high in my opinion...with the miles. You can put a new dress on a two dollar whore and she will look good...but she's still a two dollar whore.
  23. Steve is over at Avenue A car club in Newark, NJ with Signature Car Collection, his shop and the car club all in one gorgeous building.
  24. PM sent. I have one, never putting back in....EVER!
  25. I can't believe this thing is back on the market...the owner is so proud of it...keeps bringing it to the same dealer on consignment and keeps asking the moon for it like it's appreciating because he's not driving it. The car looks good and too bad he didn't enjoy the car rather than parking it. At 350k it'd better come with the twin to it that has miles on it and has been driven along with complete go through/service to make this one road worthy. I feel for the person that has those rose colored glasses on, buys this car and then watches is burn to ashes because the fuel lines dried out from sitting the last 13 years. Hate to say it, but it's WELL beyond over priced...not even worth 200k...6.0's just aren't there yet. One day maybe, not today.
