  1. Having owned a 91 and 92, I loved them during the honeymoon phase, but the clutch is super heavy, I don't like not having power steering, $5k rear axle break job was painful (couldn't find rotors and had to rebuild rear calipers). So after that happened I started looking into finding other parts and realized how hard parts can be to find. So I decided it wasn't for me. For the analog experience I much prefer my Ford GT. Parts can be tricky to find but they're out there, and basically zero repairs needed anyways... But I get your desire for the early diablo and TR, no doubt. I met my hero and was let down. My 98 SV was twice or three times more fun to drive as well, but still had the lingering concern of what happens when it needs major repairs or even minor repairs. I drive my cars too much to worry about that issue. My GT has 43k trouble free miles! Would be hard pressed to do that in a diablo. With all that said, I want another diablo lol. But now I own more cars so it would need to see so many miles. The black 99 SV Roy Cats has is right up my alley, but boy is he proud of it! Can't say I blame him...

Thanks so much!!!! The CGT and Challenge Stradale are on the lifts—they didn’t make the pic....

What's it like owning a 360 CS amongst the rest of your stable? I've always wanted one, and have a hard time justifying the cost sometimes for what it is. But they keep calling out to me!

IIRC, the 02’s had the potential to fry out its dash if the car were improperly jump-started.  There was a recall on it and it should have been sorted out.  Haven’t heard any complaint on here or at any other forums about this issue though.  The rest is not unlike what others had already mentioned: coil packs, suspension errors and condensation in the taillights but those generally apply to all the pre-LP Murci’s.

Keep in mind that the Murci’s is an old-school design.  It’s more or less the last-gen Diablo (the one with the 300ZX headlights) with a new body, an extra gear and slightly tweaked to make everything easier.  IMO, if well looked after, I don’t see the 02’s being inferior and/or less reliable than the 03’s.

    Thanks Al!

I am in Utah and have personally seen the car.  I agree $189K is high, I believe the owner is trying to ride the wave of gated cars going up in value. The car has had a PPI done and has some issues. The owner expressed to me that any issue was a non issue and every 02 has a Air bag light on . As the person potentially  having to pay for the "non Issues" I disagree. That being his position, and that IMO the car would have to immediately go in for repair work , I did not even try to make a offer on the car.

To summarize, at the time I looked at the car, it had a broken oil temp gauge, air bag light, suspension light , paint chips, scuffs in the interior and  appears to have been loaded on a trailer that was too narrow at some point in its life as both side scoops are scraped.

Do a search and you will find the car has been auctioned at least 4 times. It was last auctioned in Aug 2018 at the Fall Classic, lot 651.  Search 2002 Murcielago for sale on Google to find out more. You will find links to the auctions, auction results as well as some old dealer listings.

Maybe now that it has been for sale a while the owner might be more open to offers. I looked at it when it was first listed a couple of months ago and he was pretty firm.

Current owner stated he bought the car just as a flip.

    Hope this helps

    Great info!

  5. Some of you have probably seen the blk/blk 6sp Murci on Autotrader. Has had a major engine out 1000 miles ago but back in 2014. What am I up against buying an 02 Murci? Decently robust car I imagine, but curious of everyone’s thoughts. I remember Roy telling me years ago that the 03 Murci was the most reliable of the first gen Murci’s but can’t remember why.

Also, what do you think the car should be bought for? He’s asking $189k which I think is a little strong. I figured I need to be in the 160’s. Has around 17k miles...

Agreed 100%. The S feels so refined and easy to drive - the changes in the S are honestly the biggest reason I ordered the SVJ vs picking up an SV. If they can combine that much better driving characteristics with a more emotional (SV-esque) delivery it'll be THE car to have.

RWS makes the car feel so small you'll contemplate it being a dd.

I do think it'll be a partial dd alongside my TTH. The S definitely seems to have more draw for what I'm looking for...

My 2 cents worth, the technical improvements on the S are good but I'm not fussy about the cosmetic changes namely the front.

For me the best looking is the SV then the 1st gen AV

Can't blame you there. I'm just the opposite. My favorite of those three happens to be the S. And I wouldn't complain about owning any of the above either!

  8. I posted this somehow as a guest, so thought I'd make it actually under my log in...

Seems like there’s only $100k in difference between the 2012 Aventador and 2017 S now. That gap will close, and 5-10 years from now, what do you think the difference will be? I figure $50k or so... so cost to own a ‘17 over the ‘12 is only $50k less repairs the ‘12 will have that the ‘17 won’t? Considering one or the other. ‘12’s and their quirks/potential issues don’t bother me much. The thing that makes me want a 2017 are the rear wheel arches (love em) and the AWS... warranty/repairs don’t bother me on a ‘12. A ‘13 isn’t out of the question and I don’t see the point in spending more money on a ‘14-‘16.

Just thinking out loud here... thoughts? Also, I’ll put 30-40k miles on it pretty easily. All of my cars get driven daily. So maybe there’s only an $80k difference in a low mile 12 and 17...

The Mac’s don’t sound as good to me and also look a little boring. Even though they seem like a spiritual successor to the original NSX but with crazy power (I’ve owned 3 NSX’s). For whatever reason 458 seems more interesting than a 650S or 720s.

With what you stated above/pics, get an FF. Value is almost incomparable, and it seems you enjoy that aspect and I totally get that! The FF I drove blew my mind. The black and red FF's above are SICK... Makes me want to reconsider one:)

  10. As said above, what are the traits you want out of a car, what kind of driving do you do, and how often do you drive it? Assuming it'll continue to be utilized in place of the Huracan though, I'd consider a 720s or Aventador S. As crazy as it is to say, there's really just not enough options out there. Last questions, what's your budget, and does depreciation bother you too much?

  11. I would love to get my 84' Countach to launch like that, however without having to drop the clutch out at 5,000+ RPM's.

Out of curiosity do you recall what RPM's you dumped that thing out at? Looks like it was in amazing tune.

Just do what they do at the track and wet it down in front of the back tires and do a rolling burnout... Wouldn't require a 5k launch...

  12. Thank you everyone for the kind compliments/comments. I think a tt lambo is one of those things where you always hear about but can't fully grasp it until you have experience it for yourself. It is truly that fast!

This is absolutely the case! People just can’t fathom it until they experience it. Enjoy in great health!

  13. Tryin to keep it under 90k so id most likely be looking at an 04-05 gallardo or v8 r8

Lots of V10 options under $90k. R8 is going to feel a lot more modern. Gallardo is raw and has much more of a soul in my opinion. Not that it matters to me, but the wow factor in my experience is 5x more in the Gallardo than the R8. That might sway you towards the R8 if you don't like the attention. An early Gallardo with Tubi or several others exhausts sound about as good as any exotic out there imo. My 04 Gallardo I had for 5 years and literally never even had a check engine light. Replaced the plugs, kept up with maintenance and had to do a clutch and brakes both around 30k miles. Was the best car I've ever owned and I've owned dozens of cars like most here...Good luck with your search!
