    O2 Sensors

If you eliminate/defeat the primary o2 sensors you eliminate a properly running fuel injection system. On later model Diablos, the secondary o2 sensors are just cat effeciency sensors and can be "disabled" if needed and that need normally comes about when all cats are deleted. -mick
  2. Beware: Koala's ahead.... (Binna Burra, QLD)
  3. If the front diff is gone, then the front half axles and front drive shaft are also gone and that is more than is needed to convert to 2WD. -mick
  4. That doesn't even look or sound safe.... -mick
  5. That and the half axle under it is "wet" from the oil.... -mick
  6. Those numbers are from: http://www.lambocars.com/prod.htm -mick
  7. Now you know why we went looking into vehicle registration databases! -mick
  8. Lamborghini - the numbers are from various official docs.... In 2000, they reportedly built 201 Diablo 6.0, 60 Diablo GT and 35 ME Roadsters. In 2001, they reportedly built 215 Diablo 6.0 and 65 Murcis. Thus we end up with 416 Diablo 6.0's with an indeterminate mix of 2000/2001 VIN years as the above production figures are for calender years. Of these, 40 were stated as SEs. Allegedly, no 2000 VIN'ed Diablo 6.0's were built for the USA market yet 150 2001 VIN'ed Diablo's were. The excercise was to validate some of these numbers. The first numbers we went after were the zero 2000 USA Diablo 6.0 VINs and 150 2001 USA Diablo 6.0 numbers. So far we have found zero 2000 USA VINs and 141 2001 VINs. No other number from above has been looked at. In reference to my "simple" scan of the ILR, the 451 number minus out the 60 GTs you get 391 which is a lot higher than the 260 the ILR reports and is getting very close to the 416 reported - but thats all that can be said - nothing more. -mick PS Sites like lambocars also report 40 SEs : http://www.lambocars.com/dia/dia60se.htm
  9. As I said privately to Dave the other day, while my numbers are officially reported numbers there are always elements of doubt to there accuracy. However, using those numbers to predict something like 14x registered USA cars and coming up with 141 (so far) in the carfax database is not a bad start. -mick
  10. While I generally agree with not letting the facts interfere with a good story , in this case Mick said that there were 416 6.0s, 40 SEs of which 150 would be USA models. I also stated it should not be any surprise to find a few USA built 6.0's still on MSO, redirected outside of the USA or generally missing from the carfax database resulting in a prediction of about 140 something cars in the carfax database. This is the only number Dave is able to confirm and so the USA 150 number, at least so far, is on the mark. In regards to the 416 number, doing a VERY simple scan of the 6.0 VINs already in the registry shows a starting VIN of YLA12436 and an ending VIN of 1LA12848. Which, wouldn't you know it, covers 412 cars. And just for kicks, if we then add in the ending SE VIN of 1LA12887, we end up with 451 cars. -mick
  11. Really have to question the merits of deleting a thread that was attempting to educate people about how their VINs are not private information. And the people assuming that VINs are private information may in fact be harmed by being denied access to these facts. Hackers and people bent on ripping off people (including their identities) have a lot more time to spend on the subject than any of us do. -mick
  12. Carefull wording. Note that the product they are selling does not use the word Ferrari or Jaguar. -mick
  13. An "89 model" is generally viewed as the 25th Anniversary car which this is not. It is the last of the "88 1/2 model". The mfg date is August 88 and it has an 89 VIN. There maybe 20 or more that fit into this particular model year overlap situation ie the new VIN year starts August yet the 25th car started in Sept 1988. http://www.lamborghiniregistry.com/Countac...V/KLA12408.html -mick
  14. Clearly an 88 1/2 car but with a 1989 vin. One of a few specially designed to add to the Lamborghini VIN confusion. There were 3 maybe 4 silver Anniversary cars - don't know about the 88 1/2 cars. -mick
