  1. Oh I love that !!! More driving impressions needed. And please put it fully fuelled on a scale, I'm very curious to know how heavy it is.
  2. Agreed. Well said. Another thing to add to what you already said; people only want something they feel guaranteed to make money on, because of some supposed low production numbers. At least Lamborghini are willing to build their most exclusive car in bigger numbers than expected, so people who WANT the car and to use it, will actually be able to buy one. This should be applauded! Unlike Porsche or Ferrari where you have to jump through hoops and beg to get a car, and even then you aren't sure of getting the car at list price. Bravo Lambo!! I love the SV-J.
  3. You can actually recline / tilt the carbon buckets, same as in MurciSV, or Aventadors or Performante. It needs to be done by fixed, ie: through actual screws and bolts; then it’s fixed in the new tilted position. That really helps in terms of headroom and making the seats more comfortable to sit in.
  4. I have driven a 991.1 GT3 , left me very cold. I found the car lacking in emotion, in comparison to my 997.2 GT3RS. It felt bigger, more comfortable, and less connected to the road, not as hardcore. For me its no comparison. YEs the mk2 991 GT3 is supposed to be better, but the electronic steering rather than hydraulic really is very poor in steering feel. I would look for a nice 997.2 GT3RS. Last of the Metzger, last of the hydraulic steering, no rear wheel steering, simple and more hardcore. I don't know the pricing in USA, but over here the 997.2RS is cheaper than the 991.2 GT3. That is crazy to me. If you still want to go ahead with the 991.2 , I personally hate chalk, very boring and ugly, like a very off white stuck in the washing machine with one black sock. Anyways, that just personal opinion. The lack of leather/alcantara is something you will notice a lot, yet I wouldn't let it stop a purchase, as long as everything else about the car and price are exactly how you want it. My RS doesn't have it, and it annoys me when I get in the car, as you do notice it: but it doesn't change the way the car drives, it doesn't make it less or more fun, and my price was great for a almost new ultra low mileage so i bought it.
  5. congratulations. car looks fantastic. is the body from original parts or a kit/duplicates?
  6. Very cool Love your website. How do I get the black stripe rather than tricolore Italian flag, on your configurator. I can't find it.
  7. I doubt they are hiding much about the ALA. The genius of it, is that its so simple, yet fantastically and surprisingly effective. Yes, brute force would do it for me, it needs to crush the Performante on any highway pulls. If i would spend double the HP, then I wouldn't accept a close acceleration run. We keep hearing from people that the V12 can easily make 800hp.... well now is the time to show us. Ferrari have released the insane engine in the 812 SuperDuperFast, so I'm sure Domenicalli would love to one-up his old buddies across town. I always have more interest in the last iteration, the ultimate development of an idea (old model), than have the first release edition. All the old unforeseen problems and disappoints have been ironed out by then.
  8. will this be a worthy step up? will Lambo finally make it stand out head and shoulders above the AventadorS? This needs to be a crushing blow to anything else that Lamborghini offers, as at the moment the Huracan Performante is actually the best car. An awesome drive, as you can read from my own thread with full review on it. AventadorS felt slow and very archaic in comparison.... I would love Lamborghini to produce something that places the V12 back at the very top, untouched by anything else, nothing should come close to it. Anything less than 800hp, and a minimum of 100kg weight saving would be a disappointment if you ask me. The 488Pizza will blow it out of the water if not. Since this is the first real car by Stefano Domenicali, hopefully he will push the boundaries to Ferrari levels in terms of driving dynamics. If the Performante is anything to go by, then it should be epic!!
  9. I love the car. Incredible canyon carver indeed! Let us know how it is on track, especially after very long stints.
  10. Yes, fully agree that its the range that is annoying, that it is variable depending on factors. Fixed ratio per setting would be perfect way to do the cross/sport/strada setting changes.
  11. manual lp640 roadster, is epic. what was the reserve price, at which it would've sold? that is a ridiculous priced service ! I'm at 22k miles, and never had such a costly service.
  12. Performante all day every day. Either way, very impressive track times by both cars.
  13. To my eyes the Aston Martin Valkyrie is absolutely breath taxingly stunning. Additionally it has a V12 naturally aspirated, and it has more power than it has kg's to drag along !! That is insane. This nasty ugly abomination has a very developed version of the MP4-12C, and it looks like Stevie Wonder designed it. Im sure it will be insanely fast, but you would need to blindfold yourself to walk to and from this car. Oh, and the Veneno (debatable design, but I dig the extremeness of its looks) and Centenario (beautiful !) are just bodykits .... Lamborghini should for once actually build an insane performance hypercar, and not just a stunning poster-car.
  14. hahaha brilliant thank you ! Like I said; you can easily justify having both the Speciale and Performante. They offer very different driving experiences.
  15. My pleasure to share the hands-on experience, especially since I haven't really seen any comparison with the Speciale. And also I know Fortis was eagerly awaiting me to finally get on with it. I also feel the Performante is still not really appreciated for the masterpiece it is. What this with the subtitles switched on.
  16. I finally got to drive the Performante, a few weeks after I finally got a drive in the 458 Speciale. It has always been enticing to find out how they differ. They definitely differ. Handling The Speciale has a very tight front-end, with stunning bite. This feeling is certainly augmented by the happy and loose rear end, which was always happy to come into play (under braking and on acceleration), yet there was always full confidence in the car and a certain sense of ease. It is a car with which one dances. Yes, I know it sounds corny, but there is no better simpler description. You certainly revel in the open communication, in the way that the transparency allows you to become one with the car. Its almost a delicate dance, a bit of Mozart waltzing. The Speciale is your partner. The Performante on the other hand is a different experience. The confidence this car gives is on another level than the Speciale, you feel like its master, in total and full control. It feels a lot more tied down to the road, as if it literally has its claws dug into the tarmac, whereas the Speciale feels like it is standing confidently relaxed and waiting to pounce. The Performante feels like a block of granite, yet the communication through the steering is warm and detailed. You feel like it is your claws digging into the tarmac. I would actually say that it communicates more than the Speciale, which has a light pointy steering. The Speciale is a happy dog, wiggling that tail after the first hairpin you encounter, a real joy to be in. It clears your mind as you play piano, or guitar, enjoying the combined effort. It is your educated best friend and is happier the more relaxed you are, pushing you on to take it further to and over the limit. The Performante is your crazy adrenaline junkie best friend. Egging you on, nay, laughing at your slow speed. It is a total weapon, a road demolisher. Don't misunderstand though, it is NOT a car that gets its speed feeling like it is on rails, it is not boring rail coaster. It moves around ALL the time, and that was in CORSA mode with the electronics left on. In Sport mode it allows a bit more oversteer, but the dampers change and the front becomes soft and understeers, as well as that indirect adjustable steering (or whatever its officially called). It is horrible, and thus all my subsequent experience was in Corsa mode where the steering rack is direct and not variable anymore. Bliss. Do not spec the optional steering. Back to the handling, the car moves around under braking and under acceleration, wonderfully so, allowing you to brake late cornering into a corner with the whole car break-dancing under full control. Acceleration also sees more slip than I was expecting, and definitely a lot more playfulness. The traction is truly stupendous. On a windy, tight, narrow alpine road, I can not imagine anything that can keep up with this apart from a ThethetheFerrari. The experience is similar in the "F**K!! This is fast" sense. The Performante lets you know there is more; and you are enticed to go look for the next level. How fast can you go? The focus is a very serious one, more so than the Speciale which requires a focus of fun and pure joy. The seriousness, the ultimate speed, the hunt to extract as much as possible from this granite rocketship and the subsequent adrenaline surge is how it delivers your fun. You are slightly sideways as the rear end comes a bit light as you are turning into the corner, the front end fully loaded and communicating very clearly what the road grip is. The front end remains totally connected as you hit the apex, and you quickly feed in the power, with the back end stepping out again but you can feel the grip is there so you put on a tiny amount of opposite lock and keep the pedal to the metal, revealing in that Beethoven soundtrack. Drivetrain No comparison. No contest. The Speciale has a wonderful screaming V8, with razor sharp, telepathic reaction. A naturally aspirated masterpiece, with hunger for revs. It sounded great from inside the cabin, but it misses something from outside (windows down, tunnels). However, given how good the handling is, the engine actually feels a bit.... underpowered, which was quite shocking. Take all those positives of the Speciale's heartbeat, and then add torque, lots of it, and what feels like a lot more power too. The result is the V10 in the middle of the Performante with the best sounding engine on sale today. It sounds a lot clearer than the unmelodic Speciale, and has a lot more urgency at the top end as it revs to the limiter. As good as the handling and the gearbox is, the engine really is the masterpiece here. It is quite interesting as no internals were changed, but definitely the better air intake, that bronze SE30 coloured engine air intake cover, and the electronics have made a world's difference. Just for the engine, I can't understand anyone who buys a new LP610 over the LP640. Good news is that the overly synthetic pops and bangs on the standard Huracan have diminished greatly, and only happen when it 'makes sense' as Satan clears its throat. Conclusion The Speciale is the Sultans of Swing The Performante is Jimi Hendrix. I love both cars (and bands), they certainly are different enough to have both. There is a time and a place where one experience is more desired than the other. I still can't choose, but I'd love either/both.
  17. Fully agreed. This obsession with straight line drag racing is very much a USA phenomenon. Yes, all petrol heads have always loved stats and acceleration is a major one; but looks, and sound are definitely more important to my purchasing choices than outright speed. And the main reason for that is, speed limits have not changed, and sometimes even decreased since they were introduced!! Total madness. Even in my little Caterham 4cylinder, i'd go to jail in 4th gear. I'd go to jail upshifting into 2nd gear while driving my MurciSV. Hence pure acceleration is not the main thing that pulls at my heart strings. And oh yes.... anyone who has driven a Performante knows, that the noise of that stock exhaust is to die for. Additionally, let me add that on normal windy country roads, it is the driver that makes by far the biggest difference to whether who can follow or drive faster than the group. Hence I buy on pure emotion. On that note, emotion, can make you buy the much lesser car.... as I contemplate the awesomeness of the new Z R 1 ..... !!! 766hp, 969nm, manual gearbox, targa roof panels. WOW. I would not be surprised if they have beaten the Porsche 991 GT2RS lap record at the Nordschleife.
  18. Shame I couldn't make it; had three other engagements planned on that same weekend. Ridiculous.
  19. awesome. If ever a nice LP640 gated comes available, I would be very very tempted to get it.
  20. At who? Who's fault is it, that someone paid crazy premiums? Definitely not Porsche. They sold the 911R at a very normal list-price, and are doing the same with the 991.2 GT3. That blame would fully lay at the feet of those making the buying decisions. Porsche never said that the manual would never come back to the GT3, and actually Preuninger said in interviews last year that the next GT3 would be both manual and PDK. People should really do the research before making buying decisions. A bit like those who blindly bought SNAP because everyone else says its good to buy. Everyone should be celebrating that Porsche has listened to what customers want, and have added these options to a production car, rather than only to a limited edition car!
  21. Looking forward to mine arriving !! Manual of course, and will tick the no-wing aka TouringPack, when/if it became available
